Poll: Lootboxes and Mithril Coins

March 16, 2013

Weekly Poll

This week’s poll was suggested by Crell of Riddermark. I wasn’t aware the Mithril Coins could be found in lootboxes but apparently they can! What do you think about finding them in a lootbox?

Are you happy when you get Mithril coins from your lootbox?

  • Yes! Less time traveling to the npc! (31%, 212 Votes)
  • No! Nothing to spend them on that I want! (16%, 106 Votes)
  • What’s a Mithril Coin? (16%, 106 Votes)
  • Yes! More cosmetics for me! (14%, 94 Votes)
  • What’s a Lootbox? (7%, 49 Votes)
  • No! I have too many from the conversion to ever use up already! (6%, 44 Votes)
  • Yes! .. I’m not really dead! (6%, 43 Votes)
  • Other (Leave a Comment) (4%, 28 Votes)

Total Voters: 681

I had plenty of revival tomes from Lotteries than converted to Mithril Coins, and while I’d never have bought Writs of Travel before they have made levelling alts a lot smoother fpr this lazy player. I’d love to get more from Lootboxen.

As a player whose account has a couple of premium characters (from boxed Moria freee VIP month), and the rest are basically F2P mode, I certainly don’t mind the free 15 swift travels I’d get (especially to locations I have not yet visited, to unlock stable routes) whenever I get the 15 MC from a lootbox.

I’d love more options (certainly make them time-intensive, just like accruing TP) to acquire free Mithril Coins.

That’s neat. I never would have purchased Traveler’s Writs, but I do find them handy when I’m on my alts. I can probably get by on just whatever I find in lootboxes and stuff, then.

Nope, it means that a horse did not drop from it. :(

I rarely find a lootbox and I rarely care what’s in ‘em. I don’t mean to sound negative but that’s just not a part of my game.

I barely know what the uses are for Mithril Coins. I saw like 2-3, but feel like there’s more (or should be) and I just don’t know what I’d want to use them on.

Getting a loot box doesn’t mean getting a key… No key no open loot box

The answer ‘Yes! More cosmetics for me!’ got me confused. Is it possible to buy any cosmetics with the coins? I wasn’t aware that there were any.
    Can someone please enlighten me?

Try “using” those mannequins you see in major cities.

Oh wow, thank you. I guess I never used them after they were installed back in the day and didn’t realize they worked with mithril too.
Thanks a lot; finally something I can spend those coins I won in the lottery on.

Found mithril coins really useful when levelling my alt as quickly as possible as I could use it to skip long sections of travel. Saying that, I generally find all lootboxes to be a giant waste of time. If I get one and I have a key, I will inevitably open it, but I don’t remember a single time where I’ve felt the rewards match the rarity of getting the box and a key.

I’m fairly indifferent to getting the Mithril Coins in loot boxes.

In part I don’t get enough lootboxes to realy care. Mainly though, I have not even logged in all of my characters yet after U10, and already seem to have ended up with over 1000 Mithril coins somehow.

Considering the costs, and what you can get with them, I’m never going to use that many.

I rarely open the lootboxes due to droprates and/or the rng that spits them out.

The stuff that the mithril coins are used for are things I dont tend to use so after a round of logging in characters I’ve got around 600 MC’s worth from lottery prizes that I’ve never used.

I suppose the upshot is that after the conversion I can effectively use the revival tomes as travel writs.

I won’t ever buy these from the store, but if I get some for free, I can’t say no to that.

I still dont know what the coins are used for so I voted ‘no idea’. all i know is that i have some in each acct, converted from something else. unfortunately for me alot of other trophies and barter items were bound to the closet toon holding them. should have remembered from last updates to transfer them to the toon they were intended for.

Before ROR I was in Limelight daillies group. One in the group got a lootbox. He opened it and we all saw the FA symbol come up. Thanks to that I am always a sucker for opening these boxes. I don’t really know much about the mithril coins but I know it did save one of my alts from doing a long road journey recently.

I do like being able to move toons around the world faster using these. But I would rather they not drop from boxes, I would rather have more uber items drop from them, like FA symbols. I know it’s random, and ya never know what you may get, but one can dream

I never open lootboxes, and just sell the keys. I did buy a nice outfit with some of the conversion coins though, and wouldn’t mind finding more of them in my travels!

I voted for “less time travelling” because of the risk of creating a paradox.

I am using mine to reset the help the easement quest. It doesn’t reset the sub quests, but you get the Hybold tokens and rep waaaaaay faster

I had earned so many seals! Very discouraging to have them taken away and then require me to earn more. Will they just ‘convert’ them again at the next update? My trust in Turbine is pretty low right now.

Still not really sure what benefit the Mithril Coins are or what they could possibly get me. All I know is I ended up with a crap ton and have done nothing/have nothing to do with them.

Insta-travel to the NPC to hand in a quest is what I’ve been using them for. Great when leveling. I have several hundred of them, but not sure exactly where they came from!

I also plan to use them on new alts to pick up new travel destinations.

I haven’t been using them to reset the Hytbold dailies; by the time I’ve done one round of dailies I’m already bored to tears. I’m in no hurry to become Thane of Hytbold :)
