Its that time of year again where we celebrate Bullroarer Took, defender of the Shire, defeater of goblins, and inventor of golf. Turbine is celebrating with a screenshot contest.
It’s a bit bigger than past years though as you can win “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”!
This contest is open until March 22, 2013. Each user can enter a single one of the four categories twice. Each category will have one winner which will receive “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” on Blu-Ray.
Categories:
- Wearin’ the Green: In our staple Bullroarer Took category, we’re looking for screenshots that show your character in their best green outfit!
- Orc Foe: Show us your best picture of your character destroying Orcs, just like Bullroarer Took!
- Life in the Shire: Take a picture showcasing some of the best of daily life in the beautiful lands of the Shire.
- The Brewmasters (Group): Take a screenshot of your character and your friends enjoying a night at the inn!
It is limited to US citizens age 13 or older with an active Turbine subscription. See the full rules for details.

So sad to see this contest is only open to US residents this year. It excludes half of the Lotro player base

Indeed. It does seem silly that, in this day and age, Turbine and WB does not seem capable of organising a competition for people living outside the US when they know they have customers all over the world. Surely these multi-million $ companies could stump up a few dollars for the overseas postage. If not, why not just remove the information about the competition for the launchers of those playing from outside the US?

Has anyone else had problems with a 403 forbidden error when trying to open pages related to this event on the official website? It’s how I missed the rule that excluded non US peoples. Having issues on the Fashion Screenshot Contest too. Any advice would be helpful! Really rather unhappy as my daughter and I had our shots all lined up to enter and now there are all these problems trying to find out the rules and regulations.

Yeah I get the same thing. I don’t think there’s anything we can do about it. I think it’s the Turbine web servers.

A workaround: right click the link and “copy link location”. Go to Tools in your browser and delete your cookies (or at least all Lotro cookies). Close browser. Open browser. Past the link in your URL bar (use ctrl+v). Enter.
It works for me but it’s annoying.

Worked this time but rather sluggish. I’m still sad, I have lovely shots to celebrate Bullroarer Took Day! At least I can enter the fashion shots
