The following items are on sale from January 18-24. Below you will find the sale listings as well as our recommendation on purchasing.
Lootbox Weekend: January 18 – 22nd
Turbine has done this at least once in the past that we can remember. What it means is they are increasing the drop rate for the lootboxes and their keys.
Lootboxes can contain a varied assortment of goodies within them.
We assume the increase is across the board meaning the Monster Players will also see an increased drop rate for the sigils of battle they are looking for the special creep looks.
Horse collectors will be interested in the opportunity for the Marrow Painted Steed with lootboxes.
Free Sample of the Week
This item will grant you one free ride from a stable master. It will go into your barter wallet as a shared item so you don’t have to worry about which character you get it (although maybe you want to pay attention to the server you are on if you hop around).

Rune-keeper Class
Start A New Character of the Rune-keeper Class!
- Great for solo or group play
- Change your role in battle by dealing damage or healing
- Launch deadly attacks from a distance
- Use words of power to summon the elements
- Benefit from amazing power regen
Store Location: Account → Classes
Levels: All

CSTM RECOMMENDATION: A good deal if you were curious in trying out the RK. If you have not yet purchased Moria, I would suggest buying the Moria expansion pack (not quest pack) or if possible find a retail box somewhere (< $25) instead. The expansion includes both the warden the rune-keeper and two character slots and is a better deal for the price than buying them all piecemeal like this.
Warden Class
Start A New Character of the Warden Class!
- Use powerful combo attacks with the unique Gambit System!
- Swiftly block, parry, and evade your opponents!
- Deal devastating blows & hold multiple enemies at once!
- Restore your own morale!

CSTM RECOMMENDATION: A pretty good deal if you were curious in trying out the Warden.
Character Slots
Create one additional character on each game world! Ten character slots available!
Store Location: Account → Character Slots
Levels: All
595
446
CSTM RECOMMENDATION: More characters are more fun! A sale is a great time to pick up an additional slot and give a new class a try or pick one up for some cheaper extra storage! There are 10 character slots available to purchase in the store and it will be applied to all servers.
Skill and Slayer Deed Boost
Double the rate of Class Skill and Slayer Deed progress for 90 minutes. This item unlocks the daily skill deed limit for the length of the effect. Deeds for Skirmish lieutenants are not accelerated by this item.
Store Location: Buffs & Boosts → Advancement → Deed
Levels: All
75-2500
56-1875
CSTM RECOMMENDATION: This is the first time I’ve heard of this particular item. I’ve heard of a skill boost and a slayer accelerator but not the two combined. Which seems to me a pretty cool mash up. This guy will unlock caps on your class deeds and double your use of the skill and will also double the kills you have for your slayer deeds at the same time!
The regular slayer accelerators are on sale as well if you don’t want the skill deed boosters. It actually looks like the skill deed boosts themselves no longer exist. At least I couldn’t find them.
Regeneration Food
This food provides you with in-combat morale regeneration, in-combat power regeneration, out-of-combat morale regeneration, and out-of-combat power regeneration. The amount of regeneration that you gain is based on your level.
Store Location: Buffs & Boosts → Food & Drink
Levels: All
20-50
15-37
CSTM RECOMMENDATION: I almost want to ask why the heck is regen food in the store. I suppose it’s pretty darn cheap so I won’t fault you for buying it but at least consider making friends with a friendly cook in-game or just checking the AH.
Max Morale & Power Scroll
Increase your total Morale and Power for 90 minutes. The amount of Morale and Power you gain is based on your level.
Store Location:
Buffs & Boosts → Combat → Morale
Buffs & Boosts → Combat → Power
Levels: All
50-225
37-169
CSTM RECOMMENDATION: This appears to be some new thingy-ma-bob I am not aware of. It is a 90-minute buff that increases your morale and power pools based on your level. Ketani tells me these are like the buffs you could buy with destiny points. I can see something like this being situational in their use so it gets a “meh” simply to let you know its there if you want it.

I wondered if they’d every do another lootbox weekend sort of thing (though with the rate at which a friend of mine gets them, you’d think it was constant :p).
Thanks for the share! Looks like a pretty nice set of sales this week
On a side note, the creep appearances post you link to is exclusively the Anniversary related appearances. Skin appearances from the (Greater) Sigils of Battle that drop in lootboxes can be seen either on the respective class’s lotro-wiki page or someone has compiled most of them on a forum post here: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?494250-All-Creep-Appearances-%28Ranks-and-Sigils%29
I believe defiler Sigil of Battle skins are still missing in the thread, but they’re available for viewing here: http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Orc_Defiler#Appearance_Gallery

I took this screenshot in february 22, you can see the date in the image. Well, it’s about morale/power and not damage, but I think the basic idea (remove stuff from destiny perks and put in into store) remains.
It makes sense that they remove a free perk from the times when the game was P2P and charge you for it now. I’m not going to comment in the subject, since I mainly don’t care, but it’s food for thought that everyone and their mother knew this was going to happen yet the devs were so adamant in denying it. Well, it’s been about a year, opinions change, etc.

Sadly, these days I have pretty much zero trust in any statement from a blue name.

Can the Stablemaster’s Writs be used to travel to a location you have not previously visited?
Also, looks like I picked a bad weekend to put my steel keys on the auction house.

Yes. They can take you anywhere. They will even take you to places that you shouldn’t be able to go, like a level 20 to Stangard. (where you will be trapped, unless you milestone back or something. If you try to walk out of the gate you’ll be killed almost instantly by the mobs outside.)

The combined deed accelerators are great. I got some out of a lootbox, and some of my kin were getting them from the winterhome bag of presents. The removal of daily locks is a great one, like for mini’s and captains who find a victim to work rez deeds with.
If you are going to use one for class deeds, I highly recommend you first complete the maximum allowed for the day, then use one of these scrolls. That way you’re not wasting any part of the 90 minutes to completing the deed.
It’s a great way to combine class and kill deeding as well. make sure you find a good spawn of whatever you’re trying to kill. An example would be a captain working on his shout deeds, while killing Kergrim in an Evendim tomb.

A question for folks who know the store better than I do (as I’ve only been playing for a couple months now): do the in-store expansion packs go on sale often? Like, more than once a year? I already own the Moria quest pack, but plan to buy the expansion using Turbine Points for all the extras that come with it. The expansion is 2495 TP. During this sale, however, I could get two character slots, the Warden, and the Runekeeper for 2084. Trying to decide if I should go for this now or bide my time looking for another sale. Any thoughts?

Yuo can alway pickup Moria extremely cheap on Ebay. I got mine there for around 5 bucks plus shipping.

In 12 months of playing lotro I’ve never once got a lootbox drop and the “lootbox weekend” didn’t change that at all despite completing several slayer deeds attempting to get one. My friend got 2 in an hour. I’ve got plenty of keys tho!
