GameStop 50% Off LOTRO Pack Sale

January 4, 2013

LOTRO Store

Right now GameStop’s PC Download store is having a 50% off sale on the two The Lord of the Rings Online packs they currently sell.

I am uncertain how long these sales are active so if interested, don’t wait too long in picking them up!

Erunineriol from Anduin who alerted us to this deal forwarded some notes for those outside of the U.S. and how the download for this works. I’ve never purchased a download game from GameStop so I found this helpful!

If you live outside the us, you should use your country and address, not an fake us-address in a hotel (in my case I pay via paypal and wanted to save tax with an us-address; the order was cancelled. With my real address, the order was fulfilled correct with no tax!!!).

You must download the GameStop App, login via GS-Account, verify your PC and then click on "My Games" –> LOTRO Mithril -> Product Code (copy) and paste it into your normal turbine-subscription.

Mithril Edition: $9.99 USD

Normally $19.99, you can get this digital download for $9.99.

Mithril Edition includes:

  • Exclusive Steed of the Horse-lord mount
  • 2000 Turbine Points
  • Path of the Fellowship Quest Pack (Trollshaws, Eregion, Moria & Lothlorien)

The Path of the Fellowship current prices for the quest packs are as follows:

  • Trollshaws = 595 TP
  • Eregion = 695 TP
  • Moria = 1495 TP
  • Lothorien = 695 TP

Total = 3,480 TP or approximately $35 U.S.

feature_pic_1As you can see if you need the quest packs, this is a great pack to pick up!

Even if you don’t need the quest packs and aren’t a horse collector, this pack is worth the price just in the amount of Turbine Points granted .The 2,000 Turbine points converted into the average U.S. dollar would equal approximately $20. That’s a heck of a deal.

Note: If you already have a Mithril Edition code applied to your account, you will not be able to apply another one in the hopes of getting 2000 more TP.

Riders of Rohan Heroic Edition: $24.99

ROR_ENNormally $49.99, you can get this digital download for $24.99.

Heroic Edition Includes:

  • 1,000 Turbine Points
  • The Steed of the Eastemnet (Travel Mount)
  • Hauberk of the Eastemnet (cosmetic chest piece)
  • Title: Friend of the Mark
  • Evendim, Moria, and Lothlórien Quest Packs

The sale on this is also still available on Steam and in the LOTRO Market as I am writing this but I still wanted to mention it. Perhaps you got a GameStop card over the holidays making this a more attractive way to buy.

Special thank you to Erunineriol from Anduin for sending us the email letting us know about the sale!

Anyone know if you can apply the Mithril code to an account that already has had Isengard Legendary applied to it? (Which also included the Path of the Fellowship).

Hi Pasduil, yes you can. I have the isengard legendary pack and was still able to apply the mithril edition code for the points and horse. Awesome deal. Wish I could apply another few mithril edition codes :)

Yes you can apply the Mithril code to an Isengard Legendary. I have done this on 2 accounts to get the cheap TP.

2000tp, mount and quest packs (all of which I have unfortunately) for £6.21 / $10 is a heck of a deal. It would even be a great price at full price. Definite buy for me.

A cent less per Turbine Point than even the highest tier on the Bonus Point Sales.

Plus a cosmetic travel mount that I’ll, in all likelihood, never even use once.

Yeah, I’m in. It’s that good of a deal.

    2 questions :

    1) I Tried to buy the Mithril Edition for 3 of my friends. Figured that you can’t add 3 times the same product on your cart. But can you make 3 purchases from the same Gamespot account and then pass the codes to 3 of your friends?

Unfortunately didn’t have enough money on my debit and i’ll have to wait till Monday to throw more money in my card. Which brings me to my 2nd question :

    2) Anyone have a clue when this promo ends?

Please make it be till Tuesday!!!!

Gotta say I love the CSTM community for this kind of heads up. Not just for telling us about the sale, but giving detailed info on what exactly to do, and on top of that there are quick answers to questions. Fantastic!

Got the deal now, which is also fantastic!

Can you use the Steed of the Horse-lord mount appearance on your war steed?

Question. I’m running the game on a Mac. It says u need a pc. Do u really need that or just the purchase code? Thanks!

    • Pasduil Says:

As far as I can tell you need to be able to run the Gamestop app to see the purchase code, and from my quick Google it looks like there is no Mac version of that.

Your best bet if you still want to do this is get a friend with Windows to make the purchase on your behalf, and have them send you the code to apply to your LOTRO account.

maybe you can write to the gamestop-support via E-Mail and ask this question? A few people from the lotro from said, that they received the code vial mail. For my 2 accounts, I had to download the “app”.

I was in the same boat and, after failing to create a Gamestop Wineskin wrapper, I ended up just downloading the app on a friend’s computer, writing down the product key code, and uninstalling the app again.

You can also call Gamestop’s customer service line and a representative can look it up for you… but be *really* clear that you have all 25 letters and numbers correct before you hang up! I had one letter wrong, hence all the downloading and uninstalling!

Correct me if i’m wrong, but at gamestop the heroic edition page does not say that the pack contains the 1,000 TP

You are just getting a code from GameStop. It should include the full heroic package that includes 1000 turbine points.

It could be old advertising, too. The original package didn’t include any turbine points. Turbine added it after the fact.

I fully expect it to include the TP. If not, I’d call Turbine about it.

I bought my son the Mithril so he already has Moria and Lothlorien but it’s still worth the price for the rest of the expansion to get him RoR!! He’s a free player so how would that effect him with RoR, any info on that would be appreciated.

    • Leighf Says:

It appears that the when you apply codes they ignore any overlap so there should be no problem. I have purchased, Shadows of Angmar, Mithril Edition, Rise of Isengard, and RoR for two full accounts and have gotten the full benefits including TP and content.

I tried submitting the code after I purchased it from Gamestop, but the mylotro website seems to want to force me to select a subscription first (I’m a Premium player). Do you need to be a VIP in order to get credit for buying this Mithril Edition?
