This week we talk about update 9, bullroarer, hobby horses and yule festival changes. Buckle in folks. Let’s do this!
Goldenstar talked about the new instances thinking it was part of last week’s news but it’s not. In case you are confused what new instances she speaks of check out this link: Rohan Instance Cluster Released in Two Parts.
Oh and we got a Gandalf Ornament! –>
Dum time we ran some tier 2 skirmishes. We’ve never tried them before (although we did bump our run with Odewulf to tier three it was like level 35). Someone seriously needs to do something with Elrond’s boys, especially Elrohir. Goldenstar spent most her play time on Bullroarer after it opened up.
Merric hasn’t done much his week. Still playing in Rohan.

Riddles in the Dark
Riddles in the Dark is a bi-weekly podcast series by Dr. Corey Olsen (The Tolkien Professor) and David Kale. Discussion will focus on the themes, characters, and events of Middle-earth and lay the groundwork for intelligent speculation about how the book may be translated to film. Each episode will culminate in the hosts making a specific prediction about the upcoming films, to be proven or disproven when the films are finally released.
More information on RITD can be found at http://www.mythgard.org/exclusives/riddles-in-the-dark/
Riddle: Will the six songs from the book be included and how?
A. Contrary to all evidence, all six songs will make their way into the movie.
B. Significant portions of songs will be included (perhaps as dialogue or poetry) with or without music.
C. Most or all of the songs will be referenced on-screen with only a passing reference or a snippet of verse.
D. The only book songs to be included will be the two listed in the published soundtrack.

Hello Goldenstar
I got a catalog from these people in the mail (not sure why, but I am glad I did), and looked up their website to share with you and the CSTM community. Note, there are a few movie spoilers (kind of, its about as much as a trailer would give away), but I personally think it is worthwhile. Links:

Harperella
Dear Merristar and Golderric (see I didn’t say one of you first!)
Your old friend Harperella here. I wanted to thank you for the kindness of hosting my call to arms on Casual Stroll to Mordor and for all you’ve done for me in the past few weeks. This last week has been a truly epic journey.
My dear LOTRO community, you have supported me well, and I ask for your continued support as this contest moves to its conclusion. I want to apologize if I’ve bombarded you overmuch with tweets, posts, and too much data! I’m going to dial back a bit for the next week. I realize that I need only be Harperella, the kin leader who does her best for her kin and community, and eschews such self-aggrandizing titles like Top Guild Leader or Most Passionate Player. This journey has made me appreciate what I already have–the love and respect of a vibrant community. Putting together my call to arms let me see what a legacy I’ve been a part of in this virtual world. So hello again LOTRO! I’m looking forward to playing a tune at Ales and Tales, sharing a beer with the BBB, listening to music with Andune Ensemble, playing the harp with Galenhir, and watching horses dance in perfect synchrony at the Windy Acres Ranch. But best of all… I’ll be seeing you all at Weatherstock next year!
–Harperella
P.S. We’re planning a Winter Ball in January–Synchronized dancing in the Hall of Fire! (lessons will be available for those who haven’t experienced it before)

Hey, just to let you guys know about a cool easter egg in Bullroarer atm.
The Wildemore (possibly german for The Wild) but it is a snowy landscape with many paths, ents and rock formations.

There is also a construction site with a road (on the far side) leading up into northern fanghorn. This is similar to the GR bridge except the big question is, where does it lead to?

I listened to the RitD episode where they talked about this one, and unless I’m wildly mistaken, they were referring to six songs IN THE SECTION OF THE HOBBIT THE FIRST MOVIE IS EXPECTED TO ENCOMPASS. I guess it’s possible for tra-la-la-lally down-in-the-valley to be in one of the later movies, but it seems highly improbable. May want to reconsider your D responses, as they seemed predicated at least partly on the assumption the 6 songs were spread among the whole book.
December 3, 2012 at 4:09 pm
That is what we were figuring on (the first movie) and we may have confused you as we were being goofy and thinking of reasons justifying why we were wrong for the future. We did pick D as our choice for the first movie only.

Hobby Horse
OK I can see where it can be fun, I like the quest that uses them. But not as a 40% mount
Either 75% or 100% of run speed not 140 or 162\8.
Price, well free market. They can sell it at 5,000TP, I don’t have to buy it.

Regarding Goats and Moria; the basic, +30% goat is now available through the level 51 quest, To the Dolven View!
http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Quest:To_the_Dolven-view
So getting the Fleet Footed Goat is a good idea if one wants a better goat, but a basic one can now be easily obtained.

Just a comment on last week’s poll (which I missed, sorry
):
One issue with having war-steed controls on a travel mount is that the war-steed is very awkward without having points invested into its trait system.
So the travel mounts would have to circumvent this system while keeping the basic feel of the war-steed. The default would probably be that awkward feel you get when you first get your steed in Harwick. But maybe they could have their own trait trees, or maneuver more easily than warsteeds by default (perhaps with lower top-end speed).
