I know what they are, I don’t mistrust them, but I don’t use them. (Weird that there’s no option for simple “not interested…”)

I knew I was forgetting something… It’s kind of funny how the simplest options can easily get forgotten when trying to come up with a list of interesting choices. ;)

I’ve gotten to the point where if I have time to play but I don’t have access to my plugins, I’ll do something else instead.

  4. Lazlo Says:

buffbars, buffmonitor, combat analysis, tonicbars, palantir, and challenge tracker.
I used to use lotropad, but I ended up wanting to keep track of too much info for my alts, so I switched to just using onenote. buffmonitor is essential for a tanking warden, and challenge tracker is a recent addition for warbands.

love my plugins, but haven’t used them in a while since i still have issues with the client crashing fairly consistently, to the point that i just stopped playing altogether. now i am constantly discovering something else that i really like about GW2. perhaps someday not too long from now i can pop back in to middle earth and find that it let’s me stay.

I feel lost without my tonicbars! I also use AltInventory–very useful as I have 12 alts and I forget where I store things..

Had to go other, like Stormwaltz: I know what they are, have no problem with them, in fact have used plenty in other games– Suddenly got flashbacks to Decal in AC as I was writing this.

For some reason I have never had the urge to use them in LOTRO. Not sure why.

no cheese option? what have you done to my question?! :D I personally can’t live without Palantir and hope for something similar for warsteeds soon…
remove Palantir from my PvMP and I wouldn’t notice I’m being hit (prelude to focus fires/hunter onslaught) and I’d always be too late to fire off Touch and Go/Moving Target/Pledge/[other panic buttons]

I’ll plead ignorance. I don’t know what plugins would do or me. I remember a LITTLE about the hubbub about scripts and I didn’t bother looking into them. I guess it’s something that passed by me. Am I missing something?

Limit myself palantir, buff bars and mcha (mouse cursor highlight assist I think) with the recent addition of one that gives a bigger healthbar for the warsteed. I had a slight addon addiction in wow so have kept things from getting out of hand.

Cursor doesnt seem to scale well to higher resolutions so I’ve found mcha invaluable as it puts a nice marker around the cursor when I drop into combat. Even though I use keybinds over clicking it’s still better to know where the thing is should you need it

I use TonicBars to create my “Toggle Bars” — stuff like my mounts, pets, Wood/Ore radar toggle, stances, etc. go onto special bars that, by default, don’t show, but I bring up by pressing Shift.

I also use CombatAnalysis sometimes, and, of course, Songbook on my minstrel.

I also use LotROPad, which is a HUGE help.

I love plugins! I use Palantir, Buffbar and Travel on all my toons, plus TonicBars and RaidAssistant where needed. I’d use some others (like a challenge tracker) if it worked better with french client^^

I use plugins until a new zone opens up, because INVARIABLY they are incompatible with the expansion and make me crash constantly.

  25. Lanark Says:

I like the Ballad buff bar (can’t recall the real name) for my Mini and I use combat analysis on all my toons. I remove them completely for new expansions though, and wait until the majority of the bugs are worked out of the new area before I use them again. Combat analysis started to suck the fun out of raiding, staring at the flashy numbers (that never seemed quite big enough!) on my hunter became a gloomy chore. Now I’ll use it to tune up my dps or healing to where I want/need it and then close the window and enjoy the game! :)

I use the songbook plugin and one of the mount plugins, very convenient. Started out with one character now all of them us it. I have more but only use those two.

I play a hunter. One of these days I will use a plug-in for dps parsing. I don’t feel a need to use a plug-in for anything else. If I knew a useful plug-in was 100% stable and would not crash my client, I might give it a try. But I’m too afraid of my client crashing in the middle of a group activity.

Am I the only one who uses travel? That’s almost essential for a hunter, to keep all those travel skills neatly in one panel and off your main bars.
I also just discovered LIP (Legendary Item Planner), very useful tool.

Let’s see, where to begin. I always use:
Isil small centered interface (absolutely awesome skin for UI)
Lotro plugin compendium, to keep plugins up-to-date.
Buffbars, Palantir II, sortpack, lotropad, travel window, horsie!. When raiding: alerter, superchrono stopwatch, sometimes I use cc and debuff helper. Also I’m a big fan of altinventory, but rohan introduced a bug that cause your client to crash when logging out, if altinventory is loaded, so chan’t use it now :/
Last discovered plugins since rohan: crafting companion, recipe tracker, and challenge tracker for warbands.
Love plugins, can’t leave without ‘em!

I only use Buffbars at the moment. Mostly I use it to keep my pots and food off my quickbar.

I’ll probably add something to manage mounts and travel sometime soon, but I don’t like to add too many plugins since I always forget to turn them off before updates.

I don’t use plugins, but people are mentioning a lot of plugin names that sound like they could be really useful (at least, people seem to be enthusiastic about them :) ). Where do I go to learn what “palantir” does, for example, or “buffbars”?

Travel plugin is essential IMO. Don’t know how I ever played without it. I also use one of the notepad ones to keep track of the Inn League quests. I used to use MinstrelBuff and BuffBars for grouping, but I don’t group anymore, so I don’t really bother. Also, when I changed my Minstrel’s name, BuffBars stopped working on her. Still works for all my other characters though.

My favorite is Sortpack. For organizational freaks like me, this is the most used plug-in since it catorgarizes everything in my bags according to type. This is especially useful when I’ve finished questing and am ready to turn in my tasks.

Songbook is a wonderful plug-in for playing tunes. I’ve recently updated this one to the newest edition.

I also use a lot of different UI skins depending on what my character is. Durin’s Folk UI skin is a really good one for RKs.

I’ve heard good things about tonic bars via word-of-mouth. I’ve been wanting to download it for a while now, but the written reviews are less than happy with the program.

I’ve used a few plugins over the years ;)

Unfortunately, as a couple of people mentioned, RoR added a bug that crashes the client when AltInventory is loaded and I haven’t had the time to isolate just what Turbine broke. Unfortunately, although the crash doesn’t affect AltInventory’s data since the crash occurs after the plugin is unloaded and its data is saved, it could potentially affect any other plugin that unloads after AltInventory :(

However, I do still use a number of plugins:
Wallet to easily track currencies without having to constantly open the built in wallet (currently I mostly use it to keep track of my Hytbold tokens).

MoorMap to keep track of annotations that aren’t on the built in map as well as to view a scaled down version of the map while still being able to see the game client and the new Breadcrumb feature to keep track of which areas I’ve already been to in some of the new instance areas as well as for the dress up repeatable quest. There’s even a POI for Goldenstar’s Folly…

Alerter. An absolute must for playing in the ‘Moors, especially when I am usually half asleep and miss most important chat messages. I especially depend on the delayed alerts to help me keep track of buff/debuff applications.

Buffbars is great for pots since it also frees up space on my quickslots.

CMapins is handy for my creep maps, saves space on my quickslots but for creeps that’s not such a big deal since they have so few skills.

I don’t use Rainbow Chat anymore since I don’t organize events anymore but I still see Benjamir and others using it to make their announcements more visible.

Cards is a fun way to while away the time waiting for PUG groups to get organized. Particularly the Elevenses game, unfortunately that update hasn’t been published. yet…

I also use a few unpublished plugins like Valet for quicker equipment swapping, etc. but they are for personal use only at this time.
