While I generally play a warden, I have been known to dabble in other classes on occasion. Today, I will take a look at how the lore-master operates in mounted combat.
In this video, I show the five combat techniques I have learned over the course of the beta:
- Jousting
- Circling
- Standing
- Falling Back
- Spur On
This was recorded on Riders of Rohan Beta Build 5 and therefore any features shown are subject to change between now and the release date of October 15.
This video, as well as some skirmish-related videos, are found on the PineleafNeedles YouTube channel. There I will be making a series of skirmish videos after the release of the Rohan expansion.
May your shield protect you and your spear never break,

Super, super helpful. I’ve had a really hard time with the general mechanics in my limited time with the beta… This is great. Thanks!

Pretty interesting stuff. I’d already decided that my LM was probably going to be my first toon to enter the new region (or my RK).
I figure mounted combat mechanics will be pretty similar for both casters. (Someone will certainly correct any misconceptions there. lol) I’m glad to see a few early pointers and am very excited about spur. That makes me hopeful that I can get into combat sooner and with some sucess without having to master controlling the mount and my combat skills at the same time.
Keep the vids coming.

spur on seems to be nice skill but when used, skills consume more power, so in longer fight you may end up totally without pwr. happened to me

NICE! I will have to roll an LM on beta and give that a try. I have restricted myself to my mains (Hunter, RK & MIN) but I do have a lvl 73 LM and this gives me hope I will be able to finish leveling her.
Now my question is… Is there any hope for Burgs? My Burg is lvl 74.

Andang posted a video on his channel that demonstrates the burglar in mounted combat. They can apparently disguise themselves to get close and make a sneak attack while mounted.

That’s a very fine demonstration, Pineleaf. Thank you for making this video.

That’s a great video and really helpful. Then only part that makes me sad is at the beginning when you mount up and your pet goes away. I play a Loremaster for its pets and I’ll miss having one out all the time in RoR.
Do any of the Loremaster (or Captain) pet related traits benefit their war-steeds at all?

Thanks for the great video, I have been reading about this but it sure is helpful to see it in action.
