I went with “I purchased before warsteeds were announced but still excited for the options”, but that’s not entirely accurate as I didn’t purchase my class mounts, I won them in the lotteries. ;)

Probably if I played any other class than a minstrel, I would have said that I at least might. The just released Minstrel Class Mount is just too garish for me and certainly wouldn’t be appropriate for the field of battle!

If the mount cosmetics are account wide I might use them, bought the hunter steed and won the LM and champ ones. Still think it’s nonsense that an identical lottrey won mount is classed differently by the game.

However given the design of the mini mount I just cant bring myself to justify buying it for a cosmetic option. I have a few regular mounts I like that I didnt have to pay for so probably wouldnt ever use the class ones.

Even granting warsteed cosmetics, $20 is still too much money for something that is per-character – especially considering that the horse itself will essentially become useless in favor of the warsteed.

    I think they should:

    1) offer individual pieces of the horse appearance (maybe at 195 – 295) each.

    2) offer a bundle of the individual pieces (maybe 695 or 795) TP (and make those packages account wide).

They need to have some way of selling the war-steed appearances account wide, or some version of a war-steed wardrobe. I’d also like to see the ability to buy individual pieces of a set, like the burglar bags (gear), and the runekeeper head without buying 2 whole mounts.

I’ve purchased my Steed of Champion when I was told that I can re-color it as a warsteed. Still, I regret about this, because I’ve tried to design my warsteed with that champion steed stuff during my BR test session, and I was VERY disappointed. It looks ugly, even with re-colored details, and swords are still awfull (and they pierce my horse’s back, bwaaagh!).

There is not a Class steed that I love enough to worry about bringing it into Rohan for the appearance. I have a feeling there will be enough variability of cosmetic skins/tact in the warsteed camp to keep me more than happy.

What Turbine really needs to do with all these Exclusive mounts is break their appearances up so you can purchase the pieces you want to get instead of buying the entire horse. We’ve told them this in beta but I’ve yet to see it done at all. A lot of the latest steeds are just plain ugly but have some nice things that people would want like the Minstrel Gear, Loremaster Gear, etc…

The class steeds are much more interesting to me as war-steed appearances than as basic mounts. The ability to dye them multiple colors means that I would be purchasing the textures more than the actual design, and that makes some of the more garish ones quite a bit more appealing. I bought a few on Bullroarer just to play around with them cosmetically, and I had great fun doing it. The hunter steed especially was great for a slightly furry look.

But they’re just too expensive. I still have no plans to buy any of them.

I voted ‘other’. I would buy the horses in a heartbeat if they applied to all characters. I think the class steeds on the whole have been very nice, and the dyeable-ness of the cosmetic versions of their tack is a good touch (my LM wouldn’t be stuck on a powder blue horse!). I just think that the class steeds as a whole are rather over priced and I don’t like the fact that it’s per character. 2000 points (is that twenty dollars or something?) is just WAY too high.

None of the class steeds have impressed me enough to want to buy them. I still think that the best looking steeds in the game are the rep steeds from way back: Mathom Society pinto, Eglain Appaloosa, Evendim skewbald, Rivendell chestnut, Esteldin palomino.

I’ve won a couple of class steeds in lotteries and that’s okay. The Steed of the Hunter is probably the best one of the lot for looking like a hunter’s steed. The other one I have is the Steed of the Rune-keeper and it’s in the category of “not repulsive” which is a horrible category to have to use. The rest are just cartoonish.

FWIW, with the Steed of the Minstrel, I took a photo of it and recolored the horse from that icky clay-yellow that Turbine insists on slapping on mounts these days to a nice light grey steed rather like a Lippizaner. A better looking horse underneath the bright tack makes an ENORMOUS difference.

I am hoping that I will be able to use my Steed of Minas Ithil for a warsteed cosmetic :D

I voted for “I purchased before warsteeds announced but probably won’t use it.” I will use it before I earn any others, but looking at the beta videos there seem to be plenty of better looking cosmetics than the Champion steed. So it will probably be replaced. But for a long time after warsteeds were announced I considered getting the Steed of the Hunter for my alt (he’s a Hunter, of course) But I figure same as above, didn’t want to spend 1995 TP on something that will be replaced in 12 levels time (just hit level 63!) :D
I don’t normally make a big fuss about cosmetics, but for some reason, kitting out the warsteed seems really exciting to me.

Yes. I actually purchased the Rune-Keeper mount because of all the packs it has. I do not even have a RK but i like back packs, bags, etc on my characters and steeds. I was really tempted to get the Lore Master mount also because of all them scrolls…=]

Is there going to be a warsteed dressing room so you can test out how things will look dyed before you purchase?

I don’t buy mounts, just what I can get in game. I wish I could use all my indeed rep mounts as cosmetics.

I’m one of the rare “others”. A lot of the class mounts I have not been that crazy about. The only mounts I have purchased are the Steed of Night and that of the Burglar.
Most of the class horses seem too garish for me. Definately nothing I would purchase even for cosmetic reasons.

Can you use the horses you have won in the class lotteries or only horses you got for TPs?

Its unclear at this point. Last I heard lottery horses didn’t work simply because of technical reasons – not because they wanted to block it. It was something they were trying to fix as they wanted lottery winners to have access to the cosmetics.

The only mount I’ve purchased was the Fleet-Footed Goat. I’m rather disappointed we can’t have war-goats or use them as cosmetics, I mean, I’m a rune-keeper. Lore has already been broken, what’s a goat gonna hurt?

I agree with Dan, I wish I could use rep horse cosmetics. It’d be glorious.
I don’t plan on purchasing any horses from the store just for cosmetics. As neat as it would be, I have other things I’d rather save my precious TP allowance for :)
