It took me less than a week and I know it sounds odd, but I wasn’t hurrying! The epic is imho, the best one yet. It was like a book I couldn’t put down! They did a great job on session plays, the regular quest parts and the Eaves of Fangorn..wow, just wow!

There’s someone in my kin who announced that he was quitting the game because he rushed to 85 on release day and then complained about having nothing to do.

That wasn’t me. I don’t get that mentality. I mean, I even actually READ QUEST TEXT. It’s the journey, not the destination. :)

      Well said Joshua!

Never burn through the game it’s a waste of the entire point of the story and the fun.

I have been playing a year and I see no reason to miss most of the game for the sake of leveling.

I just don’t understand how people can level so quickly. I’ll never understand WHY people would want to in this particular game either, but I’ve been playing since forever and still don’t have my main at cap and don’t worry one bit about it. Sure, in the last year I can only really play ~4 hours a week and during school breaks, but still. Sometimes I wish I could SLOW the XP gain so I could do more content AT LEVEL.
I won’t diss on the idea of quick leveling, but I do hate hearing about people who power level and then complain about the game not having enough content. There’s just no way they are covering most of the content that quickly. Quests take time. READING quests text takes time… just so foreign to me.

chris, the answer’s quite easy: some people play this game for the instances/raids, so the road to lvl cap is not important, but what happens when you reach it. this is weird though, because i think it’s the first release that has no instances at the lvl cap (yet). but still, i have kinnies who have 8 or more chars at lvl 75 and they want to get all of them to lvl 85 before the instance pack is released.

I’ve played 4 hours a day or so since RoR launched. I’ve read every quest and got to 85 2 nights ago before I even got to Garsfield. I did kill every Warband I found and turned in 100+ tasks so that sped things up as well. Plus I played in beta so I knew how to get and use my war horse already.

Haven’t even started the climb. I’m waiting, patiently, for the inevitable lull in activity to reduce the lag, rubberbanding, and various bug squashes. Also, a profound drop in the ceaseless bitching in the public channels will be a welcome change.

I got my main up to 85 just playing without any perks or accelerators in a few days of playing several hours a day, but mostly because I’m in charge of teaching our kin to warband properly, so I had to get up to 85 to learn the high warbands in order to be able to teach them when the others are ready. My alts will be taking their sweet time enjoying Rohan to its fullest.

I’ve need one more month’s worth of TP before I can purchase the expansion in the LOTRO store, and it should come in at the end of this month. So I’m waiting until then to start. But I expect to take my time and enjoy it, never been one to rush to level cap.

I’m taking my time. Enjoying all the story lines! Catching every ore and wood node I can find and handing them out to my alts.
I’ve gotten so involved with the story line sometime and didn’t realized I had leveled. When did that happen? :)

Just hit 85 last night. Took about 3 hours a day and I still have quests coming out of snowbourn. No tasks and only a few warband (although i did get Spotted Warsteed and the Ring) So now on to Hythbold

    • Duinathel Says:

I hit 85 at this exact point too. Read every quest and messed around crafting but still have much of the Snowborne questline to do after 85. And then the Hytbold dailies, which I’m really enjoying actually.

My schedule let me focus on the game for a few days and before I knew it I was 85. I didn’t hurry- I really enjoyed myself the entire time. Mounted combat is a blast and I haven’t had lag or rubberbanding problems. Overall, this was my favorite expansion in any MMO I’ve played.

I hit 85 about a week after launch. Right now, my Minstrel is working on Hytbold quests and doing endgame warbands occasionally. I still need to grind out one more rank in Zeal and finish my crafting tiers plus Scholar’s Guild rep, but I’m in no hurry.

I had patch issues and didn’t get in for about 36 hours after launch. I finally got logged in and checked my friends list to find someone was already 85. I just don’t get it. I am playing maybe 2 hrs per day and I might be at 78 right now. Having a blast knowing level cap won’t be increased anytime soon.

I haven’t bought the expansion or quest pack yet, so my one character at 75 has just been doing the epic quests. He’s not in a hurry, so still at 75 and only a short ways into Rohan. Once the epic line outlevels me too far, I’ll go ahead and get the quest pack. It’ll still be there when I’m ready. Maybe if I’m lucky it’ll even go on sale by then. :)

My main was 75 before Rohan, and I pre-ordered… but I have not yet stepped into the new content. On launch day, I got eleven books from the library, and while I’ve finished those, I’ve gotten a few more off the new book shelves…

My rule is ‘don’t buy a new MMO at launch, and don’t log in on patch day.’ I’ll get around to Rohan sometime, meanwhile I’ve got books to read!

  18. Gilreth Says:

Really taking my time – my main is sat just into Rohan and has got no further – my alt is still in Caras Galdhron on epic. Then again this has been in the main due to a lack of computer time for the last week (thanks to a headache that refused to shift) and avoiding beforehand due to hating crowds.

goodness, I have spent hours/days in rohan and am still only 78 :) Its easy for me to lose myself in that expansion, spending hours mucking around with crafting or trying out diff builds on my horse, who is still running headlong into walls and such.

because i know the content is limited I am making sure to not gobble up all the quests in short time, though it is hard as how they are laid out make it so easy to just continue on and on, so caught up in the story flow.

made it to 76, but I keep crashing when I try to go to the Floodwend orc camp. I tried using this as an opportunity to finish the previous vol 3s (That I’ve done on my minstrel), but the session play in Isengard is crashing as soon as I start it :(

just riding around Rohan will eventually crash and I managed to crash in Stangard (was Swift-travelling)

just when I feel like using my Lore-Master…back to skirms and the innstance (Thangûlhad crashed in the 3rd or 4th assault too :( )

Level 85? Not even close! I like to take my time and do every quest that I can. In addition, since the the last welcome back event, I’ve switched servers, started over with new characters, and leveled 13 different characters to level 20, before setting on a main. I doubt I’ll be in Rohan before this time next year unless I go back to my Hunter on Silverload.

I’m in no rush. Just having fun. And I agree with others that this is the most detailed story through the quests that I’ve found in the game. So much stuff stuff to take in, so much to savor.

Not even close yet. In fact my goal for the weekend was to hit 80 (which I just managed).

I don’t see much reason to rush, after all there isn’t a huge amount to do at 85 yet, so I’m just pootling along, mixing questing with crafting.

I figure another 2 weeks or so.

  34. Andy Says:

For those that did rush to 85 I’d be curious about the motivation for it, given that the instances havent got a date yet.

I’ve spent most of my time ingame riding about trying to get the game setup so that it’ll be smoother and less likely to make me queasy.

So mostly just exploring and hunting warbands, lvl 77 so the further afield I go the more interesting the warbands become. Although with open tapping 9/10 times I start a fight solo and it’s completed by myself and others.

Crafting is still a no go as the rng gods hate my cook and I’m not paying over 1g per scrollcase off the AH.

With the level adjustments to stunland I’m almost tempted to dust off my hunter.

I am one of those who never rushes the leveling. I haven’t bought the expansion. My main is 75 but I am working on virtues/deeds etc as well as my Champ and Mini who are both in 60s. Eventually I want to get to the Moors at 85 but am not concerned if this is months away. Having said that I am looking forward to the new content.

After all the quests (not including dailys) I got to level 83 using no xp boosters and only questing in Rohan. After a couple days of warbands, I got to 84 and unlocked the dailys. Currently about 25% bar full to 85

*Spoilers Maybe* It is really fun building the town when you get level 84, but I wish you could build it faster. I want to see the town once it is finished.
    *End Spoilers*

The only reason that I would rush to 85 is for pvmp. Even then, unless a bunch of other people rushed too, I wouldn’t be able to do much against the tons of creeps out there.

Only half done with 75 on one character, still puttering around Mansig’s camp, killing orcs and lagging horribly when I try to go back to the camp… I like open tapping so far, though. Haven’t even gotten started on my warhorse yet, due to the lag and how I usually can’t log in without 4-5 times of getting told the chat server connection was lost after I select a character. *shrug* Frustrating, but I’m still hoping the bugs’ll be sorted out sooner rather than later… but not resubscribing just yet.

I have been keeping away from Rohan and having a great deal of fun with my new Burg (so much so, I bought the steed of the Burg for her)!

I like a comfortable playing experience & the 1st couple of weeks has been too hectic with all the people out there.

I am REALLY enjoying seeing all the new war steed coming through Bree though.
