Welcome Back Weekend: September 20-23, 2012

Welcome Back

I’m not really sure what to call these little mini events. Last month it was “Double Bonus Days” and this month it’s on the calendar as the old “Welcome Back Weekend” name.

Really though what it is called really isn’t very important.

What it means is that we have an experience boost in game automatically applied to our characters. This time we are all getting +100% experience boost starting today and lasting until September 23rd!

How this works is you will have a buff applied to your character that grants +100% boost to monster kills. It will not affect quest turn-ins or legendary item experience.

To my knowledge it cannot be turned off so if you are the type that refuses to use any kind of boosters, you’re kind of stuck (although you could avoid it at the Treasure Hunt).

This buff will stack with all other forms of experience boosters such as rested experience, store bought XP boosters and pocket item XP boosters.

I’ve seen no official post on the LOTRO site yet but it is on the calendar and has been confirmed as being active on the servers.

I affectionately call them “Race to Rohan” since that’s what I’m doing…trying to level a 2nd toon to 75 before Rohan comes out. ;)

I call them XP forced down the throat of people who do not want or need Help Leveling. Many Probably most of us see no need to race to end cap.
the fun of lotro is in the journey not the destination.
theses should not be FORCED ion anyone until they allow those that do not want it and there are many, a way to Turn Off Forced XP.
This has been an issue for a long time Turbine knows it is an issue and seems not to care about a large percentage of thier players game experiance.
Why not give double loot bonus wekends like in DDo, or Double IXP weekends,
rather then forced Xp and more break neck leveling?

I agree. I just started an alt after I got off work and saw the forced experience gain. I’m torn about playing the alt or just mindlessly playing my level 75 warden. I’d really like to turn off the experience gain, so my alt isn’t level 30-35 from just casual playing. Sigh.

Have they opened the Ranger’s Offensive quests, too? I certainly don’t need the XP help, but it would be nice to finally complete those quests…

Oh, they’re a series of quests from level 15 – 50 (I think) given by a couple of NPCs – one in West Bree and one in Esteldin – that have tier deeds associated with them. I recall seeing them during a Welcome Back weekend long ago and was hoping they’d return for this one. :)
