The new system that replaces the gambits system and finally attacks to show you the skills in action and talks a bit about the mounted combat in general.

Can we get a melee video. All videos I have seen are ranged. Does melee on mounted combat suck that bad

No, melee is not that bad. Ranged is definitely easier. Most classes get some ranged skill (I don’t see any on guardian at the moment but captain has some). All classes do have ranged auto attack it seems, not very much damage though.
For melee you have to come within a certain range to hit the enemy. It’s not that hard overall and the range is not as tight as if fighting on foot it seems. The hard part is if the enemy is following you, where you can’t just circle back easily.
There are skills that help this. Spur-On lets the computer AI take over and direct things itself. There are also some skills that force an enemy to ride beside you or to flee away from you, and at that point using melee attacks is much easier.
So yes ranged attacks are easier, but this is true all the way from level 1.
