Episode 159: Die in its Mouth

Episodes from 2012, Podcast

ScreenShot00390This week there is a little new information to discuss due to all the conventions happening this weekend.

Goldenstar’s Dum Group this week went to the Halls of Crafting this week and found it super easy compared to their run with Dark Delving the past few weeks. We completed with time to spare so we went to the Vile Maul to complete a deed in there. Then while we were there we made of game of dying to the Watcher. Apart from that Goldenstar did some Summer Festival and fell asleep while fishing and she’s been experimenting with live streaming on CSTM’s twich.tv channel.

Merric is getting his crafters ready for Riders of Rohan collecting the guild symbols to get that faction up. He hasn’t played his captain trying to keep it at Dum levels for when we need him for some raiding.

Drufi Steelsong

Hiya Merric and Goldenstar (and hi to you too baby Hobbit),

Merric nailed Drufi’s voice perfectly in your latest podcast (the ‘hoover’ one). Thats how he sounds in my head when i play him :)

For me Dwarves have a gruff kind of voice that resembles a mix of Irish/scottish-ish sounds.

What you didn’t get right is his name… Drufi is pronounced as ‘Drufee’ (like Ori, Nori, Dori, etc..).

Although…. im Dutch so i could have been mistaken all these years… hehe :)

Great big thanks for reading out my message… its really weird/awesome to have someone read aloud what you’ve written, especially when part of it is RP’ed.

Also, thats at least the second time i got you to read aloud in a dwarven voice … haha :D

Well, off to my next attempt i guess.

Later guys,

Andrew

Hi Goldenstar and Merric,

I don’t know if you have seen this or not but I thought thiswas cool enough to share.

I found this article about a high school sophomore, BlakeBaer, who recreated Rivendell using Legos. Here’s the link to the article:

http://blogs.babble.com/strollerderby/2012/08/28/amazing-kid-creates-rivendell-from-the-lord-of-the-rings-using-50000-legos/

It’s impressive. Blake has other Lord of the Rings themedLego creations. He posted those on his Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/baericks/collections/72157630048680116/

Thanks,

Andrew

Goldenstar and Merric,

I stopped by my local GameStop today to ask about theMithril Edition. They didn’t have any in stock, but the clerk offered to printme out a “Value Shipping Coupon” code which will allow me to buy theitem on GameStop’s website and get it shipped for free. It’s only a savings of$3.49, but I don’t turn down free money, so I took it. I don’t know if this isa thing that GameStop does regularly, or if it’s at the discretion of theemployee, or what, but it might be worth mentioning to people who aren’t ableto get the box copy locally, and don’t mind waiting for it to be shipped.

Rabbitses

Hey guys, Rabbitses of Windfola here! I just got back fromthe Turbine Player Appreciation Party in Seattle and I thought I would send youguys a summary of sorts. I arrived at the venue (the Seattle Gameworks) around6:15, nearly 2 hours before the event. I saw a line had formed outside the mainentrance, and confirmed with some line members that it was for the Turbineevent. However, I witnessed something that made me have second thoughts aboutthe validity of the line. What it was isn’t important, but it was enough to getme to do some snooping inside the venue. It turns out the real line was INSIDE,and all the people outside were in the wrong spot. I only told the guy whosaved my spot in line while I went and snooped around, and didn’t see any ofthe folks from the other line come in until later. Apparently Sapience wasaware of this fake line and even tweeted about it. Fun stuff!

Anyways, thanks to my sneakiness (I am a burglar after all)I was the 7th person inside the venue when it opened at 8pm. It was held inthe restaurant/bar area of Gameworks. Upon entry I received a LotRO: RoRT-Shirt, a RoR Pin, and a LotRO 5th anniversary pin! I was also able to snag acode for a perlino steed! Additionally, they gave every person 10 raffletickets. Connected to the tickets was a Gameworks Card with 30 minutes ofgameplay time to use on the games inside the venue. Everyone also got 2 freedrink tickets. I personally don’t drink, so I gave my tickets to some prettygirls and drank soda instead!

There were buffets set up on both floors of the area. On thesecond floor they had the raffle drawing set up. The items that were availablewere: 5 Rohan Banners, 4 sets of Madcatz gaming gear (which included a headset, mouse, keyboard and speakers), a few boxed copies of the Mithril Edition, somereal nice Hobbit movie posters, and several lifetime subscriptions for both DDOand LotRO!! I dropped all my tickets on the lifetime. I didn’t win, but it wasgreat watching everyone come up and get their prizes. Sapience and Tolero (Thecommunity manager for DDO) were both there and announced the raffle winnerstogether.

Of course in between all the excitement there was themingling! I met a lot of awesome people, and had a lot of fun conversations.Sapience was very available and I got to spend quite a lot of time with him. Iasked him about a soundtrack release for RoR, and he told me that just theother day he was talking to Chance and apparently something is in the processof being put together. Sounds like good news to me! I asked him about burglarsin mounted combat, specifically whether there would be any stealth aspects ofit. He told me he doesn’t play a burglar so he didn’t know. Ah well. We alsohad a good chat about the Argonath and how cool it looks, and he spoke veryhighly of the concept artists for the game. And of course I got a picture withhim for Facebook. I’m a pretty happy hobbit.

The folks at LotRO Reporter were set up on the top floor. They were running all the sound for the event. Towards the end of the nightthey hosted their 150th podcast live from the party! I was only able to catchthe last 15 minutes of it and saw them have a fun time with Sapience andTolero. I have never listened to that podcast before, but I got to talk withone of the hosts and he was great. I’m looking forward to checking out theirshow!

All in all, it was a very very fun night. I was overwhelmedto be honest. I want to thank Turbine for hosting such an awesome party;especially Sapience and Tolero. We as a community are very lucky to have such agreat community team to work with. I’m more pumped than ever about Rohan andcan’t wait to ride over the planes and hang out at the Argonath. In themeantime, I have some cool LotRO swag to play with, and a new perlino steed!Really looking forward to next years party!

Okay that did it…. i’m famous now :D

One of these days i am going to write you (Merric) a small RP piece that you will have to read aloud and in character… Like in the old days of radio where you had those hear-plays … Goldenstar can do the sound effects…

Its gonna be a thing… im sure of it. :D

Anyway… awesome show as usual guys :)

The bit about instances for gathering crafting items was really interesting. How can I find out which instances those are?
