GameStop is having a 50% off sale on the boxed copies of the LOTRO Starter pack Mithril Edition. Normally $19.99, you can get this boxed copy for $9.99. I haven’t found the end date for this promotion but if I find it, I will update this post with the information.
I did look to see if the digital version was on sale as well but it doesn’t look like it is at this time but that could change. I know some of our overseas friends are always disappointed when it is only the boxed copies on sale as shipping prices are out of control. We’ll keep an eye on the digital and report if that goes on sale as well.
Just to rehash, the boxed copy of the Mithril Edition includes:
- Exclusive Steed of the Horse-lord mount
- 2000 Turbine Points
- Path of the Fellowship Quest Pack (Trollshaws, Eregion, Moria & Lothlorien)
- Game Discs
- Starter Guide
- Keyboard Map
The Path of the Fellowship current prices for the quest packs are as follows:
- Trollshaws = 595 TP
- Eregion = 695 TP
- Moria = 1495 TP
- Lothorien = 695 TP
Total = 3,480 TP or approximately $35 U.S.
Chances are even if you have purchased one or two of these zones, this is still a deal for you as the Mithril package $30 price tag includes the 2000 TP and horse on top of these zones.
The 2,000 Turbine points converted into the average U.S. dollar would equal approximately $20.
As you can see, the price of the turbine points alone make this sale worth picking up and if you need the quest packs or just like the steed, that’s extra goodness smothered on top.
Head to GameStop to check out the sale!
Don’t forget to enter our contest where you could win a FREE Mithril Edition digital copy!
Special thank you to Dan for emailing us about this sale!

Yeah I’d buy that if it was digital

Again? Seriously? Woow!

I picked up the boxed Mithril Edition at Gamestop about two weeks ago on sale – it was that locations last copy, incidentally – and I noticed that the display copy for the digital edition DID have the sale price as well at that time.
Possibly you need to buy the digital edition at the actual store and not online to get the sale price?

So can I buy this and get the 2000 TP if I already have the Mithril Edition? If I remember the points were part of the Mithril Edition code not its own code and i don’t know what happens if you enter a code for something you already own.

This code will not work if you already own the mithril edition. The points come with the pack, not separate.

I would have loved to see it digital version as I am in EU and can’t buy it boxed (and I missed the previous sale
) . Hope to see it again soon, it will defiitively be a must!
By the way, if I buy it, it can only be used in one account, right? I have a f2p account additional to my vip one and I understand I could use it only in one of them?
August 10, 2012 at 8:43 am
No, you can use it on both but you can only use 1 per account. So you can’t apply 2 codes to your VIP account with the idea of getting 4000 Turbine Points that way. Your VIP account will accept 1 code and your FTP account will accept 1 code. Hopefully that clears it up.

Good luck if you live in St. Louis.
Just this last time ALL stores only received ONE copy. I doubt they restocked so soon.

You can still give the boxed edition away to people overseas, you would just have to open the box and send them the key inside.. they wouldn’t get the physical items, but they will get all the in game items.
This is also a great way to open a second account!!

Is this available in Canada? That would be sick.

It’s a shame that the international postage is so high – not so much of a good deal when you add that in for us EU players. Hopefully there’ll be be a sale elsewhere soon.

Just a little test. Can’t seem to be able to comment anymore…

Okay, that was weird, I got a page telling me I was cheating when I tried to post a comment. Now I can finally post a comment after closing this tab and reopening it again, s o here goes:
Yeah, it’s too bad that the international postage is $19.99. That makes a total of $30.00. That’s kinda ridiculous. I’m thinking about buying the digital edition. Granted it’s a few euros more, but it’s still half of what I’d otherwise had to pay. Just to see if I should wait a little longer in the hopes of other packs elsewhere:
1. What’s the use of the Kayboard map?
2. Is the packed starter guide different from the digital starter guide Lotro gives?
Thanks again for the help!

I get that too. Works for me if you use the back button, refresh the page, then post again. I copy the text of my comment too, because sometimes it refreshes intact, and sometimes it deletes the text .

It is even better with an F2P account because I bought it today and I became premium. So 1 more character slot + money cap at 5po.
