Riddles in the Dark
Riddles in the Dark is a bi-weekly podcast series by Dr. Corey Olsen (The Tolkien Professor) and David Kale. Discussion will focus on the themes, characters, and events of Middle-earth and lay the groundwork for intelligent speculation about how the book may be translated to film. Each episode will culminate in the hosts making a specific prediction about the upcoming films, to be proven or disproven when the films are finally released.

Riddle #15: What role with the Eagles play in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey?
A. They will save the Company from the Wargs/Goblins and carry them to their eyrie before carrying them elsewhere (book answer!).
B. They will save the Company and carry them directly to Beorn’s territory (e.g., his Carrock or house).
C. They will save the Company and carry them directly to Radagast’s house.
D. The Eagles will help the Company in some way other than carrying them out of danger (e.g., killing all of the Wars and Goblins).

Hi,
I have yet another question, so I’m turning to you. I was a little bored and went to duckduckgo to just look up “lotro” and there were 2 sites listed that said “we sell Lotro Gold” – what the heck is that? I can’t imagine Turbine is okay with that. Can you explain?
Thank you,
Kazren

Hi Merric & Goldenstar,
This is probably more of a question for Goldenstar, but I was wondering if you could give me a little more on how your “Dum” group works.
How do you guys decide what content to run together each week? The obvious thing to think of is instances, but those can be few and far between for some levels it seems.
I started a similar group and am trying to figure out the best way of running things. I try to give people a little bit of “homework” each week but I don’t want people to have to do too much stuff solo because I worry that with other alts and mains and real life and whatnot it just won’t be realistic for people to get a lot of things done.
Maybe you could do a special pod with the people in your group, sort of like how you guys did with the roundtables?
I know you’ve mentioned a lot about it over the course of many episodes but it would be great to have 1 episode or even a big blog post about how to run/do a group leveling together.
Anyway just a thought, I’d love to get more ideas for my group.
Keep up the good work, love you guys!

Turbine has not been able to unfubar my old account security and let me back into my old account. As such, I am starting a new toon and account. As I have been gone for so long, what expansions or other store items do you feel would be of greatest utility? I will likely be subscribing for a few months at least.
Thank you, Pinchpenny of Landroval, soon to be god knows who of Landroval, lol.

I have the RTM (final release) version of Windows 8 and have run LOTRO on it, without any problems.
I don’t think Turbine will officially support it until they test it in their Q&A labs, which they are probably doing at the moment.

Just a note, do not ship UPS, they charge amounts automatically. I used to work for Canada Customs at the mail centre. So, you should ship USPS instead. They would not have to pay, we don’t even take in items worth less than $20.00 and gifts, which this would be, up to $60.00 don’t get processed at all, just moved on. However, UPS likes to charge a $20.00 brokerage fee, and collect Tax (5-15% depending on Province) when none would typically collected if you just shipped USPS.
So, there you go, you can still do T-Shirts, just don’t use Fedex, UPS or Purolator.
