Riders of Rohan – Epic Story
We also have some new screenshots focusing on the new epic story that we will be getting with Riders of Rohan.
The Fellowship has departed Lothlórien by the river Anduin, continuing the errand of secrecy that began for them in Rivendell. Their hearts are heavy at the loss of Gandalf, their Wizard and guide, but they have resolved to continue on their path, despite the even greater trials that await them. Meanwhile, the Horse-lords of Rohan look to defend their land against invaders while Théoden, their beloved King, wastes away in the lonely hall of Meduseld. Orcs, Uruks, and Easterlings are running rampant throughout the plains and the Riddermark needs heroes. Discover the fate of the Fellowship and lend your sword to the Rohirrim as you defend this noble kingdom before all is lost.

Great screenshots. I’m torn between wanting to see them and seeing them in-game
. Loved the character descriptions in http://www.lotro.com/gameinfo/game-manual/2241-riders-of-rohan-epic-story.

Interesting look at the trait tree for Mounted Combat. You can see that they mouseover four different traits under the Rohirrim discipline. The first two give general stats related to survivability, whereas the fourth seems to be a “capstone”-style trait that gives special effects based on critting and using certain Champion skills. So it’s safe to assume that there will be at least one class-specific mounted combat trait per discipline tree.

About the epic storyline: how is it possible that we’ll see the breaking up of the fellowship in the game? I mean, our character was definitely not there when it happened. (if I remember correctly, he wasn’t mentioned in the book ^^)
Will this be some kind of session play (but then, who tell’s it?), or will we just ‘see’ it, without being there at all (which would be a first for LoTRO)?

Any past events that we’ve seen so far have been via flashback session play. Don’t see why this would be done any differently than the session plays for the fall of moria or back with the narmaleth/amarthiel storyline.
And with session play you have the possibility to interact with the storyline without affecting the outcome.

Sure, but my point/question is: If this really is session play, then through whoms eyes do we witness this event? Sureley we won’t encounter Aragorn on his way to Fangorn, and he’s like: “Hello, old chap. Remember this secret fellowship that we had? You’ll never believe what happened to us back at Amon Hen. Well, I’ll tell you …” Hmm, maybe we’ll witness the event through Galadriel’s mirror. After all, the epic storyline will most likely continue from Caras Galadhon.
But be that as it may, I thinks it’s also interesting to note that up until now, we’ve never witnessed any important event happening to the major LoTR-charaters in-game (well, except the fellowship leaving Rivendell, but that wasn’t that big a deal …). So this will be something quite special, don’t you think?
