LOTRO Store

The following items are on sale from July 20-26th. Below you will find the sale listings as well as our recommendation on purchasing.

Expansion: Mines of Moria

Delve into the dangerous depths of Moria, and try to reclaim its dark halls from the evil burrowed within. Includes Quest Pack: Moria, 2 character slots, Class: Rune-keeper, Class: Warden, and Skirmish Trait Max Rank 15. Learn more!

Store Location: Account → Quests & Content → Expansions
Levels: 45+
2,495
1,996

CSTM RECOMMENDATION: Having trouble finding a retail box copy of Mines of Moria? This gives the extra goodies you’d get in a retail box. The retail boxes are getting harder and harder to find and this isn’t so bad a price to pick up this with the same benefits.

Monster Skills

Upgrade your skills to do more damage, protect your raid group, control more targets, and cause more carnage!
• Upon purchase, skills are immediately usable.
• Get access to better traits, faster!

Store Location: Character → Monster Play → Class Skills
Levels: 10+
395-595
316-476

CSTM RECOMMENDATION: Similar to the monster traits, the ability to buy the skills for ranks that hare higher and will take you some serious time to achieve will only benefit the monster. LOTRO Fanatik wrote to us last monster sale that “Buying the most useful and powerful skills/traits for Ranks you might never see otherwise, is a great alternative to grinding out the millions (yes MILLIONS!) of infamy that’s needed for those high ranks.”

Monster Traits

Enhance your abilities and stats with traits from the LOTRO Store. Then visit your Monster Class bard to slot your new traits.
• All monster classes can update class and racial traits in the store.
• Customize your character for how you play!

Store Location: Character → Monster Play → Class Traits
Levels: 10+
195-595
156-476

CSTM RECOMMENDATION: I don’t regularly play a monster class but I’m told the ranking up of a monster to get the traits is time consuming. This allows you to buy the traits you need to survive and even conqueror those nasty free peoples without the wait. You can earn these in game but the time saved in earning will most likely pay off in a much more enjoyable moors experience from the start.

Trait Slots

Customize and make your character more powerful by unlocking additional Virtue, Class, Race or Legendary Trait Slots to use with your virtues, traits, and legendary abilities.

Store Location: Character → Character Upgrades → Trait Slots
Levels: All
95-195
76-156

CSTM RECOMMENDATION: First it’s important to note that this is only for free and premium players. VIPS have access to all their virtue, class, race and legendary trait slots, however they unlock at specific levels so it may not look like they are not available to a VIP at first.

These may not be an important buy at the earlier levels but those nearing end game will want to consider buying these. They are like equipping additional stats that otherwise you’ll be missing out on. I’ll make a guess and say they may start coming in pretty handy around the level 40+ range.

Slayer Deed Accelerators

Increase the size of your quest log, earn virtues, titles, and even Turbine Points by completing deeds! Earn double-rewards for slaying Goblins, Spiders, and more for 30-60 minutes! Single & 5-stacks available.

Store Location: Buffs & Boosts → Advancement → Deed
Levels: 5+
75-450
53-315

CSTM RECOMMENDATION: These are great ways to finish up deeds quicker and reduce the grind. If you’re like me and find the idea of killing 320 wargs to earn a virtue a chore than you will definitely like these little boosters.

See Merric’s Store Explorer post on the Slayer Deed Accelerators.

Are you sure about that Moria Expansion declaration, that it’s not the actual expansion? It says right in the description that it includes Warden and Runekeeper. In fact, the Expansion Quests: Moria pack is on sale right NOW for 1196, down from 1495.

The expansion in Lotro store lacks 30-day VIP which boxed copy has in it

Given yesterday’s dev diary on Monsterplay, and especially the changes in costs, surely the Monster skills and traits should be thumbs down? Unless you desperately want them now it’ll be far cheaper to wait till RoR.

Yes and no. Getting those r14-15 traits now is still a good idea, considering how unlikely you are to reach those ranks anytime soon. Unless of course you’re totally against p2w.

I don’t really suggest buying r6 and below skills/traits though, unless you have the tp and really want them right now. Come RoR it should be considerably easier to acquire your lower rank skills with the adjusted commendation costs. (Note how I said should. I exercise my right to be sceptical. :D )

I might get a skill or trait for my warg, my defiler is pretty much set, but I have no intention to buy anything for my spider, WL, BA, reaver whom I rarely if at all play. But to each their own. ^^

Did they do away with the freebies of the week?

I didn’t always grab them up, but they were a nice gesture.

Might be linked to monster skills sale but the store also has minstrel mentoring skills on sale at the 20% off.
