Steed of the Jester Added to LOTRO Store

LOTRO Store

This horse was available as a random reward from the flower collection quest in the Spring Festival. I was not lucky enough to win this horse while the festival is on so this is an option for me. This horse will be available to purchase from July 13-26, 2012.

This light-pointed bay steed has a contoured saddle pad in vibrant red, orange and yellow hues with a matching embroidered breastplate and hindquarter strapping adorned with small beaded tassels. Steed of the Jester goes jingle, jangle!

This steed has 250 health and allows you to travel 68% faster than running on foot.

The price of this horse is actually happily lower compared to other horses with similar stats! Cost is 995 Turbine Points according to the exclusive steeds list. Hopefully it is not a typo as horses with these stats are typically 1995 TP.

Note: This horse jingles when it runs. It’s not loud but something to note in case you’re sensitive to such things.

Not a typo. The 995TP is live as we speak!

Does it apply to account or to only one character?

The is a per-character purchase, so only applies to one character. If you look under uses in the store for the steed, it will read “Character.”

Another way to tell is that you can only see store-exclusive steeds if you log into a character (that doesn’t already have it). Trying to do it from the character selection menu will give an error message.

Mike is correct. Turbine has only ever once made account wide steeds for sale in the LOTRO store. Trust me if it was account wide and 995 I would have made it flashing huge text with fireworks shooting out of it :D

If you’re interested in an account-wide horse, consider the Steam Pack which is currently on sale.

It seems that the top stat horses are a lot easier (cheaper) to come by recently. I wonder if Rohan is going to bring a stronger/faster horse into the game?

The war steed coming with Rohan are indeed faster and stronger but those can only be used in the new area’s maybe they finally realized that more people will but it for a lower price and that might even surpass their 1995 tp sales.

Turbine has actually said that the War Steed can be used in the entire game world (sans moria, of course)… but you can not use mounted combat anywhere outside of the new zones.

but you can totally just ride the horse.

Turbine also said that you will be able to re-skin your warhorse to appear like any of your store-exclusive steeds you have already purchased. So this could be a jester horse of war, how cool is that? -lol-

Given that criteria I highly doubt they will introduce a faster horse. The warhorse might have more Morale though, that would bake sense.

Good deal. Usually a 68 Horse sets you back a lot more. It will take a lot to replace my Steam Steed however (the colors and the snorting smoke effect are just too cool).

    Sigh…

    Why should I bother anymore?

I ground those damn flowers to get that horse, and now just anyone can plop down money to buy it outright, without doing the work. I know it’s fluff, but it still makes me mad.

Glad the 995 TP is wonderful.

    Thanks for the heads up!!

I worked like a dog to earn the money I spent to buy the TP to buy the horse. What’s the difference? :)
