This poll suggestion idea was sent to us by Tosaf of Silverload concerning the older systems being enhanced for a cost (similar to the barter wallet). Tosaf suggested a price point of 995 TP but I modified his question to just ask if you’d be willing to pay for enhancements.
I am a double lifetime account holder and would be willing to pay for most of these if they were available. I don’t have a rank 9 toon so that is probably the only one that I wouldn’t buy at this time.
Which of these older systems would you be willing to buy an enhancement from the Store?
- Housing Revamp (55%, 556 Votes)
- None (15%, 152 Votes)
- Kinship Revamp (10%, 103 Votes)
- PVMP Skirmishes in either new or existing skirmishes (9%, 95 Votes)
- Mail Revamp (7%, 68 Votes)
- "Elite" (rank 9+) PVMP Map (3%, 28 Votes)
- Other (Leave a Comment) (1%, 15 Votes)

I’d be willing to pay for a housing revamp, if (and only if) it gave access to more neighbourhoods. I wouldn’t pay much though, perhaps the equivalent of a Quest Pack if it offered something more than new neighbourhoods.
July 28, 2012 at 9:45 am
As later posters have said though, we shouldn’t have to pay for it. But if it did occur, I might pay a small amount for it, if it’s cheap or goes on sale.

From the STORE????? None!
Update the old features for free for ingame money.
July 28, 2012 at 9:21 am
Perhaps I don’t understand the poll question. It sounds like things we shouldn’t have to pay for. Revamp for everyone or leave it alone.
July 28, 2012 at 10:40 am
The thing is: they aren’t going to invest time and energy into these optional systems unless they can somehow monetize them. I could see them doing something similar to the vault system: you purchase a house, and are automatically granted a certain capacity (say, the ability to display 20 items inside). You can then purchase extra capacity in the store (unlocking an additional 20 display items for 40 “slots”, 60 “slots”, etc).
The same could be done with housing storage.
I also advocate dumping the hook system and going for a grid system, where we have more free-form placement of items.
July 28, 2012 at 5:13 pm
Grid system sounds better then the current system, i like this idea
July 28, 2012 at 9:36 am
I’d definitely pay for a housing revamp. The system as it is now is ok for those who don’t care so much about housing, but us cosmetics/rp/decorating crazies it would be nice if we could buy a more advanced version of it in the store. It would be nicer, of course, if it were free, but I’m not expecting Turbine to put all that money into revamping an ok-system for free (and I wouldn’t really mind paying 995-1500TP for it if I happened to have the money)
July 28, 2012 at 10:40 am
I’d be willing to pay something (the amount depends on the nature of the revamp) for a housing and a mail revamp.
July 28, 2012 at 11:00 am
Both kin and housing. If only one kin update.
July 28, 2012 at 11:00 am
I’d be willing to consider paying for a housing revamp, *if* it gave free placement of items akin to EQ2 and they increased the amount of items available to place. LoTRO is an excellent game for non-combat activities and I would count the housing system as one of those. However having experienced the systems available in other games it’s a rather poor system in an otherwise very rich game.
Of course they could tie in a new painting hobby so people can craft pictures for others – something like that insanely popular finger-drawing app that some of my friends have on their phones…

Other, NEW PVMP MAP for EVERYONE >.<
July 28, 2012 at 11:26 am
None of the suggestions on the list interest me, but I’m sure there are things that I WOULD pay for; I just can’t think of anything right now. I did purchase the upgraded barter wallet though.
July 28, 2012 at 11:29 am
First of all I would pay for a revamped AH with unlimited slots (tired of having to switch alts just to put my goods on the market).
Other than this I would probably pay for free mail.
And if we talk about true revamps house and (eventually) kinships.
July 28, 2012 at 11:38 am
I wouldn’t pay for any of them, but I think that Turbine really should revamp housing, kinships, mail, and the trollshaws.
Also, how would paying for a kin revamp make any sense? There are gonna be some players im the old kin and some in the improved kin o.O
July 28, 2012 at 11:47 am
I would pay for mail revamp (OH to be able to forward those bind-on-acquire items from lotteries to an alt.) Or to put multiple items in a message instead of sending them one at a time.
I would also pay for housing. There are a ton of more places to put things that aren’t available. More hooks!
July 28, 2012 at 11:56 am
I wouldn’t pay for a revamp of any of these things. A revamp should be part of an expansion or update.
They could sell enhancements in the store, such as additional mail capacity or more attachments.
And they could sell the ability to own more than one house in the store.
Otherwise, revamping the systems should be included with the main game.
July 28, 2012 at 12:41 pm
I am also a lifer with around 4+years under my belt. I would love to see the mail system updated. It is outright laughable in its current state. I remember though, hearing someone from Turbine answering a question about this recently and saying they would like to do something with it maybe, but they have put other ways to get stuff to your alts like shared storage. This really doesn’t fix it for sending stuff to other people though. I have been watching the ext. Fellowship dvd lately and I feel Bilbo says it best ” Change comes slow, if it ever comes at all…( in lotro) “
July 28, 2012 at 12:49 pm
Yea, a housing upgrade would be definitely worth a few TP’s. As jewahe’s post earlier said, without the ability for Turbine/WB’s to monetize the enhancement, it won’t happen. Lets say you get a ‘premium’ neighborhood, with the ability to add rooms, chests, and a grid system for placing decorations. I’m not sure I’d like Buff’s added (like DDO), but it is a monetizing metric you don’t have to partake in.
Personally, I’d like to see a kinship house have the options for things like farming fields, ovens and workbenches. Only the largest kins could probably afford all of them, but it would be very, very handy. Make the Kin house more of a community rather than a place to shove stuff.
July 28, 2012 at 5:22 pm
Nice idea, to get more kin members to enjoy there own neighbourhoods and socialize better
July 28, 2012 at 1:09 pm
Kinship revamp, without any doubts..
July 29, 2012 at 4:55 am
Yes, have to agree completely. Don’t know if you ever noticed the kinship revamp proposal on the lotro forums, but that in my view is exactly what lotro kinships need.
July 28, 2012 at 1:25 pm
I voted none as to me a revamp means to modify the already existing code. that should be free to keep players in game like a redecorate for an area. I would pay for small additions or perks like say a stable cosmetic, etc. but not for them to fix housing or other areas that have been neglected since the game went live.
July 28, 2012 at 1:28 pm
Housing!! There are so many items and so few spots. And they have to do something to permit us to move the spots around. They way they are organized now doesn’t have too much sense.
July 28, 2012 at 2:53 pm
Things like being able to mail account bound stuff isnt something I’d pay for but adding more slots to send items by mail I might. One is a revamp and the other is an upgrade.
Likewise with housing to get a stable or apparel dummies for my gear/mounts is an upgrade whereas losing the hooks is a revamp of the existing system.
July 28, 2012 at 3:43 pm
All of the above. Seriously. If breaking out the cash is what it takes to get any of those things to happen, so be it.
July 28, 2012 at 3:46 pm
The things I’d like to see revamped, mail and housing, are fundamentally part of the game, and therefore should be done for everyone without additional monetization.
July 28, 2012 at 5:30 pm
Let me see if I can dig out of my memory what was said by a blue name ages ago accurately… hmmm… ow… that hurt ma brain!
Anyway, this is what I remember:
Turbine did not write/create the current housing system, they bought a module and plugged it into the game to make players happy about getting housing.
Turbine does not own the rights to the housing module’s coding and they cannot change it in any way and I think the company they bought it from is out of business so not updating it either.
In order to upgrade the housing system Turbine would have to build a new housing module from the ground up and their priority has been getting new questing content out which I think most of us would agree is higher on the priority list of ‘must haves’ and new housing falls mid range into the ‘sure would like it’ category.
I believe the same problem haunts the kinships and mail.
July 28, 2012 at 6:12 pm
Hey Merry — If true, that does not bode well for improving these systems
July 28, 2012 at 9:13 pm
Wonder if thats the reason it’s never made it further than a roadmap
July 28, 2012 at 5:39 pm
I’d like to see some more PVP options. Open world PVP doesn’t really interest me, so the Moors aren’t my cup of tea, but if they had some arena-style PVP games (capture the flag, deathmatch, etc.), I’d pay money for those.
I know that some servers, the Moors are a ghost town, but they could have a group finder-like feature that could match players up from all servers for cross-faction or same-faction PVP match-ups.
July 28, 2012 at 6:14 pm
I’d pay Turbine points for this. Fixed 12 v 12 PvMP “skirmishes” like you describe would be a ton of fun, esp. because you wouldn’t have to worry about 12 more people from the other side showing up to ruin the fight!
July 28, 2012 at 7:43 pm
Honestly i just desperately want them to do SOMETHING with Housing. if i have to pay for it, i’ll suck it up… but for the love of god, FIX IT!
July 28, 2012 at 10:19 pm
If they revamp the housing maybe a grid system like the Sims has for decorating. Not sure if I would pay for the revamp itself (it would be like paying for the revamped Evendim for example again or the wallet upgrade that quite a few of people were left with a bad taste in their mouth). But they could however, add store exclusive housing items that I know people would buy and possibly have house chest upgrades much like the vault.
July 28, 2012 at 10:38 pm
OTHER – Security. I would pay to have Turbine implement a two-factor Authenticator option.

Fishing/hobby system. Doesn’t need a revamp, just more content.
July 29, 2012 at 4:46 am
Aye, completely agree. Would be nice to see some more hobbies, like painting or sculpting.
July 28, 2012 at 11:33 pm
I’d maaaaybe pay for housing, but if and only if the lag is fixed and some form of compensation is offered for the past (almost) year of ever-worsening lag issues.
July 29, 2012 at 4:57 am
Most of these proposed changes are ones the player base have been wanting for awhile. My concern is that Turbine will continue to ignore these older systems until the player base grows so desperate that they can be milked for as many TP’s as possible. Many of you might dismiss this as pessimism, and a few months ago I would’ve been among your number, but we’ve seen recent examples of Turbine management being so overcome with Store greed that they’ve used less than the best judgment. The recent apparel dummies implementation comes to mind.
July 29, 2012 at 6:49 am
Very strange poll. Of course, I wanna see House and Kinship revamp, but I think changes of this systems must be a part of any new addon/update but not the feature, that can be bought only in the store, and for which you need to pay even if you a lifetimer.
July 29, 2012 at 1:24 pm
Well, this is just the thing I was thinking about for the month or so. We need (I insist!) to show that we are interested in revamp of old systems, and the only way to show it, is to say that we are ready to put our real money in it. Hope someday this will work.
July 29, 2012 at 4:52 pm
Tough call between Housing and kinships (and having seen it in the comments, mail). In the end I just about went for Kins simply as there are already a number of awesome revamp write ups out there that show what the system could be.
I tend to agree that it hurts to suggest paying to get such features improved, but if its pay or not at all, I;d probably suck it it.
With housing the thing that saddens me is remembering features and hookables available in the original AC more than 10 years ago that beat anything you can do in LOTRO. Kegs show that you can put effects on hookable items for example, but it isn’t done
July 30, 2012 at 11:30 am
I don’t think direct monetization is necessary. You fix some of these things and money follows.
For example, housing. If people actually liked it and consistently used it? There might be more people playing, accessing additional areas (via TP or VIP status) they might not have otherwise bought to do quests and get related housing items. Not to mention, I’m sure there’d be a spike in house item sales to begin with.
July 30, 2012 at 3:15 pm
I would pay zillions of money to get rid of the legendary weapon system !!!
