This week’s poll is fairly straight-forward I think. We’re curious if you play MMOs other than LOTRO (we assume if you pay attention to this blog you at least play LOTRO). Either pay for or other free-to-play titles count. Feel free to explain or discuss your other MMOs in the comments section!
Do You Play More Than One MMO?

I play two consistently, but I have 7 installed.
July 7, 2012 at 2:52 pm
I’m currently playing LOTRO and Age of Empires Online. Very rarely, I’ll pop in to SWTOR, but that sub has been cancelled and will probably stay that way.
July 7, 2012 at 2:55 pm
I’m for the most part playing LOTRO (of course!), and have also recently picked up SWTOR again to see what’s changed. On rare occasions I will play a bit of Rift, but my subscription runs out in a couple of months and I probably won’t renew it this time.
July 7, 2012 at 3:10 pm
I play Lotro primarily, occasionally <1xwk I'll pop into STO to A.)queue up a few Duty Officer mission & collect the previous queue's rewards or B.) Pass the time while Lotro's down/patching.
July 9, 2012 at 7:18 am
I must say I do the exact same thing. I love the duty officer system in STO, it’s like XP by remote control! Even when you aren’t playing the game!

So I’ll pop into STO every weekend and Duty Pfficer up while Lotro is launching then I’ll play a few hours in middle earth before leaving my poor hapless toons standing in the middle of some field or swampy marsh with a slightly glazed look on their faces and their mouths gawping open slightly as their pupet strings are cut untill the next play session.
Lotro is my main and I must admit I forgot totally about STO over the last two weeks worth of holidays when I finally bought Evendim and played my hunter main to level 40 there and loving every moment of it
But hey, it’s now back to Senior High School and reality
July 7, 2012 at 3:17 pm
I barely even have time to play one computer game, which right now is Star Craft 2. I settled on that because I can play it for an hour at a time and feel satisfied, and it’s purely skill-based–i.e. I don’t need to grind to make my character better through gear. LOTRO is still my all-time favorite pc game (and its community and my kin/friends on Landroval rock), so I’ll be back eventually once my RL craziness settles down.
July 7, 2012 at 3:28 pm
I only play LoTRO really, but I did try out Star Trek Online, and it was ok. I have toons in DDO too, and I played WoW for a few months, but LoTRO captured my heart.
July 7, 2012 at 3:31 pm
I play a bit of Eve in addition to LotRO. I
July 7, 2012 at 3:32 pm
Somehow hit enter early there! To finish, I like that Eve lets you level up and train skills while offline. It’s nice not to have to grind out levels.
July 7, 2012 at 4:01 pm
I still wander back to City of Heroes every now and then but that’s really the only other “traditional” MMO i play. I guess you could count games like Team Fortress 2 or League of Legends as “massively multiplayer online” games… but for the sake of the poll, i didn’t.
July 7, 2012 at 4:18 pm
Aside from LoTRO I still play DDO every now and then. I also installed The Secret World this week until I discovered that my computer can’t handle it, which I too bad because I was looking forward to it.
July 7, 2012 at 4:21 pm
The only MMO I play with regularity is LOTRO. I have DDO and SWTOR installed, but almost no desire to actually play them.
July 7, 2012 at 4:34 pm
I love Lotro. I like Rift. I’ll try GW2. And probably Neverwinter when it comes around. Currently not playing anything with any regularity. I would be still playing Lotro 7 days a week if it weren’t for Turbine’s bs.
July 7, 2012 at 4:35 pm
I’ve been playing mostly SWTOR lately, but I’m resolving to get back into LOTRO a couple of nights per week between now and September so I’m ready for Rohan.
It’s bad enough when I switch from one class to another that I have to remember what each button does, but switching games really messes with me!
July 7, 2012 at 5:01 pm
You mean there are others? ROFL! You guys are so silly!
July 7, 2012 at 5:02 pm
I only play 1 at a time but LOTRO is not my first rodeo
Having done more than 1 at a time we learned that it’s not the best use of our time, energy and money so we only do 1 now and commit.
July 7, 2012 at 5:03 pm
I occasionally pop back into City of Heroes now that it’s F2P. That was my first MMO and my husband and I had a lot of fun with it. But far and away most of my MMO time is spent in LOTRO now. I don’t really have enough time to commit to more than one.
July 7, 2012 at 5:12 pm
Is Day Z considered an MMO? Me, my friends and the zombies makes for a massive number.
July 7, 2012 at 5:56 pm
I play LOTRO 90% of the time, but my husband and I still have our WoW subscriptions and hang out there once in a while. Hey, that’s how we met!
Plus we want to be pandas. *ducks*
July 7, 2012 at 7:35 pm
I know what you mean. When I quit wowi told myself I would only go back if I could be a panda. Lotro changed my mind though!
July 7, 2012 at 6:07 pm
I play several different ones but lotro and battlerstar galactica online are the ones i play most
July 7, 2012 at 6:31 pm
I play well over 20 but LOTRO is my favorite by far
July 7, 2012 at 6:33 pm
Besides LOTRO I’ve been playing DDO. I also dip my toes into Guild Wars, Star Trek Online and Champions Online occasionally.
Might eventually try out DC Universe Online.
July 7, 2012 at 7:29 pm
LOTRO is the one I always come back to; currently enjoying The Secret World while waiting on RoR… Played SWTOR a bit but sub is canceled now.
July 7, 2012 at 10:54 pm
Yeah, I got a SWTOR char to cap and then just lost interest. Too bad, but it just turned out to not be the game for me. As you say, I always come back to LOTRO.
July 7, 2012 at 7:33 pm
I said just one but I have had more than one going before. I started playing everquest when I was eleven and read the Hobbit soon after. When I saw you could be a halfling I was psyched. Really wished there was a lotr mmo. Now there is do I don’t believe I’ll be playing another one!

Technically I do play 2 MMOs, LOTRO and Myst Online: URU. But MO:URU is just a multi-player game, not “massivly” multi-player, and I only spend a couple hours a week at best with a fiend of mine. LOTRO is my game, but even that is now mostly playing with the music system and exploration when new areas come out… I am not a fan of skirmishes, instances or raids.
July 7, 2012 at 7:53 pm
Hey I played Guild Wars in the day a lot and sometimes still log on to see what’s up. Lotro is fun and chilled (you know a game is good if you play for 5 hours strait and it felt like nothing) but its the most money hungry game I’ve ever played and their excellent in luring you in for more. PS (BUY GW2!)
July 7, 2012 at 8:03 pm
I voted other as I usually play a few at a time, but right now LoTR is my only one still active. Currently participating in betas on emerging MMOs as I am looking for my next big addiction, but in the meantime will continue on with LoTR in a diminished way, finishing up storylines and characters.
July 7, 2012 at 11:38 pm
I have a large collection of video game titles. The vast majority of my PC titles are either MMOs or The Sims series. I play a new MMO every month, but rarely stick around longer the the first 30-days. I’m currently playing The Secret World. Next month will be Mechwarrior Online. AFfer that it will be Guild Wars 2 until Riders of Rohan comes out. Lord of the Rings Online has been my primary MMO title since June of 2007.
July 7, 2012 at 11:40 pm
When we finished the Isengard content, most of my kin went to SWTOR so I followed (I’m a first generation SW fan.) So I hop between LOTRO and SWTOR. I am mostly on SWTOR but will come back with a vengeance to LOTRO with Rohan.
July 8, 2012 at 12:48 am
A similar thing happened to me. I played LoTRO from Siege of Mirkwood until Rise of Isengard. I tried SWTOR at launch (December 2011) and I was instantly hooked. I guess I needed a break from the fantasy world. I came back to LoTRO about a month ago but it didn’t last very long (1 day haha!).
P.S. Even though I don’t play LoTRO anymore, I still listen to CSTM. This podcast is that good.
July 8, 2012 at 1:35 am
Right now I only play LOTRO, but I’ve have previously played other MMOs and it’s not out of question that I may return to play them again.
July 8, 2012 at 7:16 am
Right now my main MMO is Final Fantasy XI. Always wanting to play that game I went back about a month and a half ago having tried it back in 2003 and seeing that the amount of time needed for that game was crazy. Now its actually soloable and much faster to lvl. I still do play Lotro but I do it mostly with my wife as a family activity and we play in a casual manner. We just recently got to moria and I’m really in no rush to reach end-game. We even bought Isengard last year and we’ve yet to get there :p
July 8, 2012 at 7:50 am
My mmo time is spent with a mix of Lotro, startrek online, guild wars (soon to be replaced by gw2 so working slowly towards HoM stuff) and most recently the secret world.
STO is mostly just to get a space combat fix as the ground stuff isnt that great and the “endgame” group stuff is plagued by elitists that put me off it years ago. Also suffers from having the interesting/fun content placed behind a time-gating system so it’s very hard to log in and do what you want to do.
Only issue I have with TSW is that for the persistant pvp zone my fps drops and a lot of the time you die having met a band of sword wielders spamming their aoe button due to their fps being just as bad. Loving the infiltrate and investigation missions in it though.
Could also chuck champs and swtor into the mix but with champs the crafting system got altered and I really dont like it and swtor is just running down on time having been unsubbed. Do have DCU on my ps3 from when it came out but not gone back since it went f2p.
July 8, 2012 at 8:39 am
I used to be a full on MMO addict, playing everything that came out and beta testing everything I could. Circumstance and disillusionment have forced me to trim the fat from life, regarding MMOs anyway, and so I’m strictly a LOTRO player right now.
I did beta The Secret World and was not impressed, but that’s neither here nor there
July 8, 2012 at 9:50 am
I play LOTRO, DDO (sometimes), WOW (as F2P), and SWTOR. The main two are LOTRO first and SWTOR second the other two are once in a while
July 8, 2012 at 1:59 pm
Ive played Lotro since open beta, and it’s been my only MMO…until Swtor came out. I’ve loved SW since the first movie came out, so I was really excited to play it in a super MMO. I max leveled a toon, taking my time to do all the content, and then subsequently–and quite sadly–got bored. It became all about endgame gear upgrade grind…and really boring. The people in my guild were great (they came from Lotro) and that was the most fun. But the game was boring it seemed. There is soooooooo much more to do in LotroBesides leveling another alt!!! Yes, you can raid, but you can do music, you can deed, skirmish, pvp is easier to get into as a lower rank or experience, decoration of housing, festivals, etc. The feeling I have in Lotro is that there is always something to do and I don’t have enough time to do it all….which is really great bc I like picking my options when I log on. If Swtor was like that, I might be there. But this Lore that Tolkien developed is really really good.
July 8, 2012 at 2:14 pm
I’ve played LotRO, WoW, EQ2, STO and Fallen Earth, and GW2 Beta. LotRO is the only one I’ve played extensively, but GW2 is looking very good. The release date is a week before Rohan, so I doubt much work will be done in september
July 8, 2012 at 2:44 pm
I play a lot of MMOs, but I’m assuming this poll is supposed to be MMORPGs. I’ve tried several MMORPGs in the past 10 years. LOTRO is the only one I’ve stayed long enough to get a max level character.
Thinking about getting GW2, but I will be still play LOTRO. I have put way too much time into it to just move on to another game all willy nilly
July 8, 2012 at 4:19 pm
LotRO is my primary MMO/game I play currently. That could change by the end of August though with GW2 coming out. I also play other games from time to time. Just started TF2 recently. Also play some Borderlands and GW every now and then.
July 8, 2012 at 4:51 pm
Lotro is my primary and first MMO (leading to first blog and podcast following – CSTM). I have recently started trying Star Trek Online since it is free and I watched the original show and several follow up series. However, the transition from pony and sword to starship and phaser has not been kind as I have to admit I am pretty lost in that game – just used to the way Turbine leads you through the game with the areas, quests, leveling etc. If anyone has some recommended sources for new players to that game (CSTM in space ?
)it would be appreciated. Bottom line though, LOTRO is my main for as far as I can see.
July 8, 2012 at 7:04 pm
No others worth playing
July 8, 2012 at 9:58 pm
I play Vindictus when I feel like smashing stuff up and Atlantica Online when I feel like strategizing.
July 9, 2012 at 6:09 am
I started MMOs with UO and I still play it though not with any regularity. Of course, due to young kids I don’t play anything with regularity. I used to play WoW but realized it was so addictive that it was pissing me off when I couldn’t play enough. LOTRO is helping me get over that addiction. I feel that LOTRO is more complicated to learn how to play at the top end but I don’t feel like I HAVE to get to top level and I love the atmosphere. So mostly LOTRO now and occasionally UO.
July 9, 2012 at 11:31 am
I play SWTOR and LOTRO but every now and then I dabble in Pirates of the Burning Sea. Love the ships, conquerable ports and economy but the rest of the game is poo.
July 9, 2012 at 10:07 pm
I have lifetime subs for LotRO and Star Trek Online, and I’m also currently subscribed to Fallen Earth. I only play two of the three at a time.
July 11, 2012 at 4:32 am
I play LOTRO and SWTOR… also some Diablo3 (but dont count as a MMO) and Torchlight (same).
I do get asked to try out all kinds of other MMOs (latest is The Secret World) but i hold off on most of them since being married and father of 3 little boys i dont have alot of time on my hands for gaming as it is anyway
We need more hours in a day!
July 11, 2012 at 8:35 am
LOTRO is the only MMO I play, but I also love Skyrim. I’ll give Elder Scrolls Online a shot when it comes out but I’ll definitely stick with LOTRO until we get to Mordor, the Grey Havens and beyond.
July 11, 2012 at 10:08 am
i’m on a break from lotro that’s been lasting a few weeks now. tried LOL but the community is just awful, it’s a shame because the game would be pretty cool.
i’ve been doing lots of solo stuff like AC revelations or crysis 2, and i’m really looking forward to the warframe beta, it should be pretty good.
what got me off lotro in the end was the endless greed of players. once i became more involved in raids, i really got to see that side. if i do ever return to lotro, it will be just to hang out with nice people and help lower levels. i think it’s clear that one way or another, raiding’s off the menu.
July 12, 2012 at 3:37 am
I put down only one, but I am expecting to be playing two when GW2 comes out. We’ll see if I can manage my time between two games, I’ve never done that before. Not going to be easy, especially considering that Rohan releases the week after that.
July 12, 2012 at 11:02 am
Though Lotro Curently has my attention I play when in the mood at least 2 others. One being Runes Of Magic The Other ALLODS. But LOTRO is the one I’ve spent the most on (For a free-to-Play game, Point, Expansions and such(well Worth it)
July 13, 2012 at 2:56 pm
I *play* two MMOs (LOTRO & SWTOR), but I also have Star Trek Online and The Secret World installed at the moment.
