Call me crazy, but I don’t see how Celestrata’s gender identity has any relevance to the community update. Making an issue out of it while she’s trying to tell us about the game is in rather poor taste.

I don’t see her making an issue out of it.. Someone asked and she explained. End of story.

I don’t know about anyone else, but this is the first time I’ve seen Celestrata in person (as opposed to in text form). So the question comes up, and she answers it, which I think is very decent of her. It’s not unlike how certain other video updates spark debates about the law-tro vs. low-tro pronunciation. They’re totally off-topic, and I hope that kind of thing dies down as we get more used to these video announcement dealies.

I try not to read YouTube comments as a rule, unless they’re from the uploader. It only leads to heartache. ;)

To be clear, Celestrata is clearly not the one making an issue of it. But a bunch of YouTube commenters, someone on the LOTRO forums, and two people here have brought it up. It’s very, very tacky of them to do so, in my opinion.

Jouster type mob is what I am interested in seeing. That will be fun to combat as a minstrel.

This update was exciting…Seraphina is an awesome ambassador for LotRO. Hanging out with her in the booth for a while at PAX a year and half ago was the highlight of the convention for me. It’s clear she loves the game and has a lot of passion for it and it’s contagious.

Who cares if he/she is an olog-hai troll, or a beauty queen? The fact is a fact: these videos are pointless, amateur, silly, ant can’t convice me to buy the expansion. We need a good, long HD video with actual ingame footage and professional commentary. That’s all.

Actual in game footage that we can actually see, you mean? I want to see actual mounted combat, a group of people hitting mobs, and at least most of the classes represented. I’d like to see much more than that, of course, but considering the mounted combat is their main seller for this expansion, that’s the only video they should really bother releasing, well maybe the one about the music, as well.

So far, none of these videos have really gotten me excited. The closest I got was “The horse has a death animation!!!” but then again, that was never anything I was wondering about, and would have been content, and probably happier, to find out about that live in-game.

I wish they would just do these 10-second teasers (because that’s the amount of time that actually has information I care about) in text form. Save their time (money) from taking time off to do these, type up a whole page of teasers to be posted every week or a few times a week, and spend the rest of the time doing more important stuff, like fixing stuff, polishing, creating new things.

Totally off topic, but I’ve been noticing, I am totally in love with commas!

I was confused about the Warband System. The Warband is what they call the conjunctions creep side. I hope they come out with a new name so that I’m not so confused!

I thought warband was the equivalent of fellowship for Creeps?

    • Nusnogard Says:

Warband is the name of mobs FM’s also, not just creeps. Think of the Lieutenants in Fil Gashan, always yelling that they are doing a Warband Maneuver then holding the FM pose. I do hope they change the name.

Warband Manoeuvres are what FM’s (Fellowship Manoeuvres) are for creeps (and a few NPC’s), so Warband = Fellowship for the evil folks. Given it sounds like they are going to have multiple mobs with different abilities acting as a cohesive unit, Warband seems to be the logical name.

I thought it was a nice quick update. I would have loved to see pics/video but I was lucky enough to see some of that at PAX this year.

By teasing the combat as much as they are they’re running the risk of having someone leak footage from closed beta as it’s looking to be the only way to see a decent length of actual combat.

Guessing that the jouster type will ride about and charge if they get lined up to do so. The others mentioned sound more like from the regular trio of roles.

    OFF TOPIC…
Save the infantile yootoob style comments from somewhere thats not cstm, please. You’re bigotry tars us all with the same brush and shows how shallow a mind you have if you cant apparently listen to a person without focussing on their appearance. Game is rated as 12+ so we should all be well above that age where we tug a sleeve and go “oh look mummy that person looks funny”

This is a fantastic blog and I often point people towards it when I meet a new player and they’re after a good source of info. Nothing will disuade them more than the negative comments they read here, such as the gender bias ones.
