This week we talk about the Warband information released this week, new music, and all the LOTRO content sales this week!
Goldenstar’s burglar this week went with the Dum group back to Dark Delving and still had difficulty getting that final boss down. She also purchased the Legendary Edition of Riders of Rohan this week.
Merric played more with his Captain in Moria and has almost completely finished the first half of the revamp. He also did a raid skirmish, Storm of Methedras.

Riddles in the Dark
Riddles in the Dark is a bi-weekly podcast series by Dr. Corey Olsen (The Tolkien Professor) and David Kale. Discussion will focus on the themes, characters, and events of Middle-earth and lay the groundwork for intelligent speculation about how the book may be translated to film. Each episode will culminate in the hosts making a specific prediction about the upcoming films, to be proven or disproven when the films are finally released.
More information on RITD can be found at http://www.mythgard.org/exclusives/riddles-in-the-dark/
How will The Riddle Game involving Bilbo and Gollum be handled?
A. Complete: they will not omit a single riddle — much like the account told by Bilbo during The Council of Elrond
B. Partial: They’ll omit some riddles, but those that they keep will be straight from the book.
C. Reinvented: they’ll alter some of the riddles or add new ones entirely.
D. Stripped down: they’ll show only a montage of fragments of riddles

Anduin Martyr
Heya all at CSTM,
A smelly Dwarf guardian from evernight is asking himself a question for a time now.
The question is: How will we get the end-gear in RoR?
Because turbine has simplefied the system too marks, meds, seals but if the armour in RoR can be barterd for meds and seals, than people can just now farm the instances for the meds/seals and basically get the armor when they hit 85. Turbine also could add a specific token for RoR but then they just bring the old system back, they also can do it that the gear will only drop for monsters instead of bartering.
So what are your thoughts on this?
Greetings from the depths of Moria,
Anduin Martyr

Hey goldenstar and meric! I have been listening to your podcast for quite some time now and thought that u guys could give me some advice. Well I play on the riddermark server but nothing exciting ever happens here. Its mostly always landrovel with all the player events and concerts. So my question is, should I change from my server? If yes then to which server do u suggest?

Inwyn of Rohan of Eldar
Hello there and good day.
I have an idea that really tortures my head for last few weeks. It’s all about housing system revamp and the Store. Telling the long story short, the idea is to show Turbine that major revamp of housing in game could be extra profitable for them, so they should work it out.
![]()
Probably, it is a very stupid idea, but still, I want to see some opinion from other gamers and even more from CSTM hosts and writers. Here is the link to the thread I’ve posted on LotRo forums: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?467686-Housing-system-and-the-Store-could-be-friends!-We-need-a-revamp-Turbine!
So if someone from CSTM crew have some free time, please answer me via e-mail, on LotRo forums, or even make some public discussion via CSTM site.
Inwyn of Rohan, from Eldar server.
P.S. Sorry for my English. I have really no skill in writing in this language, shame on me.

~15 major areas, (past Bree) 11 milestones…It’s the ‘pretend you downgraded swift travel’ bundle.. sorta!
July 16, 2012 at 1:11 am
And.. the character name doesn’t seem to match any character on our server, I wonder if they’ve already left.
For reference, I know turbine is testing the ‘return to your old server’ transfer option, …they’re just not advertising it until they’ve got more completions under their belt. But don’t leave unless you’re sure you want to go!

There’s definitely no other things in Rohan at all is there….. oh no.
you will have notice 2 things:
Nah there’s definitely no Argonath, Treebeard, Boromir’s Death, Pippin + Merry getting captured by orcs and definitely no chance of us doing anything cool like helping gandalf. PLUS if u read the lotro.com page properly
-Same flag as bad men in GR so we know what they look like
- Orcs and Uruks actually do fight amongst themselves, confirmed by forums.
CANT WAIT FOR ROR
- PS chance’s youtube name is HUGECHANCE… well LOL xD

We were talking about major game systems (you know like end game stuffs to do). Of course there will be plenty to see and stories to experience. But for gameplay, it appears that Turbine is putting a lot on Mounted Combat.

So given how much I buy through Amazon, I’d be happy to go through CSTM. But given I’m European, I need to go to Amazon .co.uk, not .com. Is there a way of getting to the regional sites while still maintaining the referral status?
July 16, 2012 at 6:17 am
Thanks Ayalinda! Unfortunately our current affiliation is only for the US Amazon store so using our link will not help if you buy from the UK store.
We can perhaps see if we are able to use regional affiliate programs but I’m not certain. It’s tied through our amazon.com account (which for us is for the US store). We can look into it though. In any case, it’s appreciated that you want to assist us!

The Hobbit Movie Countdown… Do I really need to know – to the SECOND – when something happens 150 days from now? It’s absurd. There’s no need to display hours (much less minutes and seconds) until you are within a few days of D-Day.
If there is a way to configure the widget along these lines, I’d suggest doing so.
Good show otherwise.

Thanks for your feedback but it’s kind of an all or nothing deal with the counter. I take it you don’t like my count down to Rohan counter either so I apologize for that as well.
July 16, 2012 at 10:33 am
Blocking certain scripts from running in firefox will prevent things like the countdown timers from appearing.
The one for RoR is quite handy as once it hits 20days I’m planning on moving my 75 into the great river areas to start on that chapter of the epic and give myself a nice run in to the expansions epic storyline.
July 16, 2012 at 3:52 pm
No worries, no apologies needed, I understand “All or Nothing”.
Stupid Widget!
I just think it’s goofy marketing-type hype to track something like a game launch or a movie opening with the kind of precision that NASA uses for a Mars Lander.
I mean, the servers never come up exactly on time, and there are always trailers before the movie actually starts… lol

To comment on your statement, Is Mounted Combat, it? is this the end game? Turbine did say they were working on creating a more solo-centric end game.. this could be it, you can solo it, or group it… but this could be a big chunk of the Solo-centric end game they are speaking of. I myself am starting to get a bit more excited about ROR.. The systems looks great, BUT i will wait to give my final opinion, wanna try it game.
As for legendary items, I like them fine enough, wish there wasnt so many levels 20-30 levels would be good enough for me, why does it that we have to get a new legacy every 10 levels!? how about cutting the levels in 1/2 and giving us a legacy every 5 levels. I do not use LIs on my alts until they get to max level, only on my main do i spend time working on my LI’s to the full effect. I also do not spent time grinding out items like Scrolls of Delving, or scrolls of empowerment on my alts.. when my alts reach max level, they get a 2nd age, and enough runes to level it to max.. and thats it, But then again i do not raid with my alts either.
Great show, wish Rohan was here now!

Ugh, sorry for the mis-spellings and bad sentences, havn’t had my coffee yet this mornin

Having just recently crossing the threshold on my Rune-keeper from the revamped portions of Moria to the unrevamped zones, there are moments in the later sections that are just making me go “UGH” because of the multiple returning to areas I had just visited to get through quest chains.
One example of this is Durin’s Court in the Flaming Deeps. They send you back and forth between here and the area’s quest hub at least 4 or 5 times. I know this is how it has always been (having done this on like five other characters thus far), and that I’m sure stuff like this might be changed around when they are able to allocate more time toward Moria revamp part 2. It’s more the fact that the first half has been revamped that really displays a couple of the annoyances in the second half.
I’ll just say I was surprised at the globsnaga orcs’ Waterworks expansions…now if only they’d go IN the water, they might be able to finally take a bath!
