LOTRO News, Videos

Sapience is featured in a new Community Update Video posted to LOTRO’s YouTube page sharing what is coming up this week in LOTRO information.

Listed in this update as coming this week:

  • New music from Chance Thomas “Boromir’s Last Stand”
  • Aaron Campbell gives a first look of mounted combat
  • Behind the Story Series continues with feature on Chance Thomas.

Also I’d like to take this time to voice that I think this sort of short video update is a really cool idea. I can see this being a great teaser of things to come building up towards the expansion.

Watch the video on YouTube.

I’ve been wondering how am i going to heal on my war steed as a Minstrel. I hope I don’t have to heal players and their mounts…

Ah, Sapience, the man that banned me from the forums for using the reference “Browncoat”, because his own ignorance didn’t know the difference between a Firefly reference versus a Nazi-era “Brown Shirt”. A ban that would stand to this day, despite repeated assurances and explanations, if not for the kindness of another Community Sheep-herd who realized what a complete eff-up their leader had managed to commit and possessed too much hubris to correct.

So… not being familiar with a particular term, Sapience made an honest mistake in the interest of keeping the forums free of Nazi references, but then someone else caught and corrected it? While I understand your being annoyed about this, it sounds like it got resolved the right way. Nobody can ever be perfect, and when mistakes are made, there’s a way to reverse them.

On topic, this video appears to be a step in the direction of keeping the community informed. Turbine seems to have realized that having a small, but regular, trickle of information is better than weeks of silence followed by an overwhelming flood of information (which, more often than not, contains confusing language or errors).

        You are right.
But dont try to argue with someone who feels persecuted.
        Not gonna work.

He obviously wasn’t familiar with the term, as the comment was made in a thread specifically about Firefly and the Serenity movie. Anyone, anywhere, at any time could have found the correlation with a mere 5 second Google search. Instead, despite several patient explanations that it was neither offensive nor out of context, I remained banned until Celestrata came along, FOUR MONTHS LATER.

But you’re correct, mistakes are made — but they can also be admitted and corrected. Sapience didn’t do that, and still hasn’t done that, even when proven wrong repeatedly.

I can forgive mistakes. I don’t forgive obstinate stupidity.

We get you are upset and yes what you went through is frustrating but this post is not a “why we hate sapience” post so lets bring it back into focus a bit. :)

Ok, slowly but surely, I’m starting to get a little jazzed about this expansion. Was never all that interested in Rohan but I can’t wait to see more of Fangorn Forest.

Looking forward to the mounted combat one. Hopefully we get more than the 1 second blips of horses moving about from the last teaser.

I wonder if they’re moving towards dev vids rather than blogs after all the fuss about whats written down vs whats in releases for the game.
