Win a Hand Forged Blade from My Middle-Earth

June 26, 2012

Outside LOTRO

You’ve heard of cupcake wars right? Bakers told to make fancy cupcakes to wow judges for prizes. Ok totally forget all that sissy girly cupcake stuff (I totally love cupcakes too) because My Middle Earth is broadcasting Arctic Fire 2012. We’re not making cupcakes here, we’re making weapons!

Arctic Fire is an invitational gathering of some of the most talented bladesmiths alive that is being held June 26 and 27, 2012 in Anchorage Alaska. The goal of the gathering is to help raise general awareness of the art and craft of bladesmithing, and advance the craft by inspiring others to try their hand at making a blade.

There are seven expert bladesmiths using three open forges and each turning an Alaskan Rail Road spike into a knife in sixty minutes.

Forge Wars! Sounds awesome, right?

Even better is that three lucky live viewers on the My Middle-Earth video stream can win an actual hand forged knife created in this competition!

How do you win?

Watch the live broadcast Wednesday June 27th at http://arcticfire.mymiddleearth.com/live-broadcast/ and at some RANDOM time, host bladesmith Dave Stephens will announce the contest.

He will then ask a trivia question, and the first 3 people to  email the correct answer to minstrel@middleearthnetwork.com will win one of the 3 blades from the forging competition!!!

The broadcast runs from 1pm EST to 9pm EST on Wednesday the 27th – stay tuned for that question!

To enter, you must be a member of MyMiddle-earth social site and be at least 18 years old.

I don’t usually like things like that, collect any kind of weaponry or have anywhere to display it…but I want one! Somehow it would be like owning a piece of the books or movies…even though it really isn’t. Really cool idea to get people to watch!

Another thing to keep in mind, these are three blades that are one of a kind, and never to be made again! One of the forgers is Dave DelaGardelle who made Heimdahl’s sword for the THOR movie! http://cedarloreforge.mymiddleearth.com/thor/

Amazing contest; I will definitely participate, although I’m aware that chances to win are really slim.
