Weatherstock IV Wrap-Up

June 18, 2012

Weatherstock

Another year of fantastic friends and music is the best way to wrap up how much we enjoyed Weatherstock this year. The bands were all excellent and I loved how they all approached Weatherstock with their own particular style.

Weatherstock IV

I didn’t hear what the final tally of players that attended this year but it is reported on the forums as “about 500 people, 1 chicken and 1 horse”. It certainly seemed larger than last year from my perspective. For example, this is what my screen looked like if I turned names on.

A big kudos definitely goes out to the Lonely Mountain Band and all who helped organize this amazing event. I will say with certainly the small editions they added such as a transition band really did helped keep the flow of the event going. I really enjoyed the flow and can’t imagine how much work must have been put in to make it all happen.

Weatherstock IV

Of course I cannot talk about Weatherstock without at least mentioning the awesome new theme song created by Aegthil called “Weatherstock Forever”. I’ve been humming ever since. Download your copy of “Weatherstock Forever” here!

As for the results of the Battle of the Band contests being held, here are the winners!

  • Light in the Dark – Andunie
  • Free Peoples’ Choice – Mornie Alantie
  • Lonely Mountain Band Cup – Songburrow Strollers

While we did broadcast the whole event live on Middle-earth Radio, we did not record the event for podcasting so I do apologize if this is something you were hoping for.

Having the twitch feed as well as the podcast one made things more watchable for those that turned up late.

Congratulatory slap on the back to the members of the organising crew for such a great job.

And a disciplinary slap in the face to the GM who told the singers to stop spamming general chat.

And of course adulation to the performers who produced some fantastic compositions and variations of well known tunes.

Awesome awesome event as per usual!! Many thanks to all the bands and to Harperelle, the LMB, and any of the crew (Tinki and company) for all their efforts in organising this great event.

It was sad to hear about the warning haded out by a GM to a band member. I sure hope they appeal the warning to get it removed from the account. Turbine should be ashamed of themselves for not prepping the GM staff on this annual event. Considering the amount of coverage the WeatherStock event gets, they really shouldn’t be going out of their way to gain yet more bad PR with the fallout of the ROR fiasco fresh in air.

I couldn’t attend this year but listened to the live broadcast until the songs started all sounding the same to me (sorry guys but one key and pibgorns… ugh).

Anyway, congratulations to the Bands and to those who set this whole thing up! *popping hope*

My main PC’s power supply celebrated the jubilee with it’s own fireworks display. My old PC cannot run LOTRO so I couldn’t be there “in person”. However listening to your live show helped to make up for the disappointment. Many thanks!

Many thanks for the mention of Weatherstock Forever. Woo Hoo!

Let me add that the audio production was by Floradine, while the voices were done by Mithrilfist, Kaerri, Floradine, Lennidhren and Harperella. Lyrics were by Aegthil and Harperella. All these people are members of the Lonely Mountain Band, with the possible exception of Aegthil once Harperella reads his Weatherstock report.

I don’t suppose anyone else recorded the livestream? Would love to get my hands on it even if someone just recorded through their WMP or something.

Looked and (for the most part) sounded awesome. Thank you for transmitting it. Andunie was the best so glad they won!

I wish we could find a few good kins to hook up with in Riddermark.

We need to make such awesomeness non-exclusive to Landroval. It would be nice to be able to participate in some of these events on our own servers. :-D

Hey, that’s me on the first photo. The elf gal in sea blue. She answer to the name of Lucindë, event enthusiast. Oh, now I feel like I was on TV or something, lol!
I tried and tried but I never found Goldenstar. It was like finding a hobbit in a… How it would call a band of haflings, when they are all dancing and jumping around in a very small spot? Weatherstock! (forever)
Well, it was the first time for me, and I spend a great time there. I was amazed how long it was, like 5 hours or more!
Thanks to the organizers and the broadcasters!

This was my first year at Weatherstock playing in 2 bands, which was interesting! (I’m on the “stage” in the first screenshot up there.) Now I’ve been part of a winning band for 3 years running, which is quite a privilege. Long live Weatherstock!
