Steed of the Burglar Now Available!

LOTRO Store

mount_burglar

Released today is the next of the class specific mounts, the Steed of the Burglar. This store exclusive mount will be available starting today until July 5, 2012.

Burglars are at their strongest when moving silently through the shadows and need a mount that can do the same. The Steed of the Burglar is of a dusky colour and wears leather armour of dulled grey, green, and brown, specifically chosen to blend into the varying environments its rider may move through. The Burglar’s Steed has plenty of bag space to carry the implements of its master: picks, marbles, stun dust, and what not.

Store Location: Travel & Housing → Mounts → Store Exclusive
Levels: 5+
1995

This mount is as fast and same morale as the previous store exclusive class mounts and other store exclusive mounts and with the same price tag. The purchase is per character so make sure you are buying it for the character you wish to ride this steed (you know like your Burglar perhaps).

If it is just the stats you are looking for there are in-game alternatives. The Elf Ambassador and World Renown horses for example have equal stats but a different look, of course. If it’s the look of the horse you are enamored with, this is your only option.

I did end up buying this steed for my brave little Dum Burglar so here are some photos to share of the horse in game.

The only thing I can’t figure out is why the evil “I will eat your face off when you fall asleep” red/orange eyes. Admittedly I know next to nothing about horses so perhaps this is common or expected but it certainly gave me pause when I saw the screenshot.

I’ve been so excited to see this one since my main is a hobbit burglar. Thanks for posting the pics! I love it, except for the eyes like you pointed out. And, I do know a bit about horses and have been riding for years, and I gotta say I’m really disappointed in this – there’s NOTHING real about them. It was bad enough that Turbine keeps making horses without bridles (honestly, we’re not all elves that can ride without tack, and if there’s a saddle, shouldn’t there be a bridle? it drives me nuts), but this just seems over the top and silly. Steed of Night is cool…this is supposed to be a “real” horse. I would have said they hit it out of the park except for those darn eyes :(

I thought the Guardian one was great too, but this and the Champion horse are just… meh. I was really hoping that the Champ one would be awesome, but I hated it. Ah well. Perhaps they’ll do better for Minstrel!

The rune keeper horse was quite awesome, and the guardian one was great too. It’s just this and the champ horse…and I hate to say I wasn’t terribly impressed with the hunter horse either. It wasn’t a disaster at least.

I’m still wondering why the Rohan horse has creepy blue goat-eyes.

Ok, I looked deep into my steeds eyes and I don’t think they are red, but the eyelids have a red tinge to them which gives the initial impression of red eyes .. at least that’s what I think.

Unfortunately, the style wasn’t what I was expecting. I’ll be sticking with my free Treasure-laden horse for my burg. :)

So what’s with the mirror-image mount? All of the other mounts have varying and interesting packs, bags, weapons, etc. that aren’t the same from the left side to the right side, why’d they do that with this mount? Sheer laziness on Turbine’s part. Won’t be buying this one.

After the Steam Starter Pack horse being 68/250 and account-wide for 15.99, this is a profoundly bad deal.

This one is the same on both sides! Why did they do that?

I got it for my Auntie Dellica but only because they are making the store skins the Rohan horses, or at least that is the way I read the release notes.

They’ve not said which store mounts are going to transfer to warsteed skins, that I’ve seen. However I would like to think it’s a safe bet that the class mounts will be included in with those.

Which does mean that we may now have a rough timeframe for the remaining class ones to come out. By the RoR release or there’ll be another rstooshy on the forums from the missing classes.

The horse’s tack doesn’t seem burglar like to me. I figured they would have more grey tones/shadowy colors. Plus I would think they would have more simple tack and not something that looks like a knight’s hourse. As far as horse eye color. Horses eyes in real life can be brown, blue, hazel, amber, and green. Coat color and white markings can effect eye color. As for the coat color. Considering there is no black points and the tail is not black on the horse my guess was they were going for liver chestnut which can range from dark-reddish brown to almost black.

    Much like this horse.

The eyes are the thing that bugs me the most. I HATE the eyes. I don’t mind the mount being brown, though some thought it should be black. I don’t like all the green in the tack, and the red is just kind wtf!? for me too. If the thing had less demonic eyes and the green was replaced with a shade of grey and the red was replaced with a darker color, even brown, then I would buy it. As it stands now though I do not like it and can save the money.

It’s… hm. Well, I don’t think “burglar” when I look at this, I think “Hunter II”.

Keep in mind, in the lore of Middle Earth, Sauron is collecting all the black horses he can in Middle Earth. So if LOTRO follows with the lore, finding a true black horse in Middle Earth will be difficult.

I like the muted colors and the sensible tack, but this is one I will pass on.. just too many horses nowadays and I am saturated.
