New Rohan Fly-Through Video and Screenshots

June 20, 2012

LOTRO News, Videos

Today Turbine released some more Riders of Rohan goodies for us including a beautiful fly-through video of Rohan landscape.

The eastern plains of Rohan are divided into six, diverse areas ranging from the rolling plains of the croftlands to the shadowy eaves of Fangorn Forest.

There was also a whopping 20 new screenshots shared! Again these screenshots are showing the different regions of the eastern plains of Rohan.

The score is beautiful and perfectly suited to Rohan. The landscape is, as always, breath-taking. Nonetheless, I will be happier when they release some more in-depth footage of mounted combat!

I agree wholeheartedly. Even though we’ve seen most of these structures and artwork used elsewhere in the game, the new score elevates it all to an entirely new level.

I also noticed how the profusion of “fringe” (grass, flowers, ground cover) brings the plains to life. I usually turn this feature off entirely because it completely obscures quest objects (and some small enemies) on the ground, but I might actually turn it back on just to see it animate as my war-steed runs through it.

However, with only six “areas” (opposed to Dunland’s ten), I wonder how the landscape will be “twice” or “three times” as large without just spreading everything apart further. If that’s the case, I won’t complain. I’m actually quite fond of running uninterrupted over the plains from one horizon to the next.

    ROI had 3 areas.
    Dunlands, Gap and Nan Curunir.

Rohan will be 2x so 6 areas make perfect sense.

    (music is awesome)

I’d hazard a guess that the warsteed zones will be the larger geographical area as the horses are reputedly faster. Faster travel shrinks zones once you’re moving from a to b rather than stop starting across them.

    Beautiful.

Makes me almost forget that embarrassing other “trailer”.

Is that the ingame music already?
Calling this a film score isn´t too big an exaggeration. Well done Turbine.

I have to say – they really captured the feel of the plains I always imagined characterized Rohan. Looking forward to it, for sure.. still, do I pre-order? *thinking thinking*
