MMORPG was kind enough to give their fans a video recording of their interview with Turbine. While there is a lot of the same information I think seeing a Turbine employee talk about the product and to hear the tone of voice really helps calm the nerves about the expansion. One thing I would like to point out was the confirmation of more levels for your legendary item. I am glad they are expanding the max levels for this after a while of being stuck at level 70.
Another interesting part was when they talked in depth about mounted combat and being able to see the excitement on the faces of both the interviewer and interviewee. All in all I think this has made me much more comfortible with my purchase of the expansion.

I did hear one thing that made me jump: ARGONATH!!!!
June 11, 2012 at 10:06 am
Yeah that made me very happy to hear because I completely forgot about them putting that in game. I am looking forward to see just how big they are in person.

I’m quite excited to see Turbine’s version of the Argonath.

That AND Rauros falls of course.

In all the interviews i’ve seen so far, i’m missing a very important question me thinks… What happens to the LM and Cpt pets? when you mount now they disapear, but ofcourse to engage combat you dismount and they re-apear… this time, you stay mounted to fight, will the benefit of a Pet stay? or will everyone just have a Companion in Rohan, and thats the horse?
June 11, 2012 at 10:07 am
That is a really good question as my captain is wondering that too. I hope that the buff stays but I am sure they will balance it reguardless of what happens.

I would guess that captains will emit some sort of aura while on their horse, almost as if the horse was carrying the standard. I would love this to be true, as having a cosmetic banner on a captain’s mount would be awesome, assuming they give us that option.
June 11, 2012 at 10:15 am
That would be really cool and makes me even more excited to get my hands on this expansion.

Actually, Captains are going to run around on foot, but the Heralds will be given a coconut shell that they can split in half and bang together.

Monty Pyton for the win!
June 11, 2012 at 2:33 pm
@Scott- Indeed
June 11, 2012 at 5:24 pm
Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?!
June 11, 2012 at 2:21 pm
Hehe- that’s awesome! We’ll probably have our banner up like other banners.
Maybe LM will be able to have there pets out and enter combat with you. Giant bears and Aurochs plowing down the mobs. Eagles picking up the riding and flinging the off. Sabre cats finally able to shine more with their speed and attack/dismount skills!
And the mighty white rabbit launching itself from your steed viscously attacking any enemy it comes in contacted with. Sending the orcs running in terror!
June 11, 2012 at 2:35 pm
@Flosiin- This has to happen because it would be so epic to see anything like this in the game. I now hope that LM soldiers get to stay with them for mounted combat because your comment makes it seem like a no-brainer that would be silly to leave out. It might even make LM’s overpowered for a change which would be very nice.
June 11, 2012 at 2:31 pm
@Joshua- I think now no matter what they come out with I will be disapointed because having that reference in LotRO would be so epic!
June 12, 2012 at 9:56 am
Thats it, going to have to call my horse Patsy now
June 11, 2012 at 9:37 am
if we can use our most iconic skills from our mounts does that mean i can ride around using shing shing?
June 11, 2012 at 10:08 am
That would be really cool….it will be interesting to find out.
June 11, 2012 at 2:00 pm
I just want to take my Loremaster out and use Light of the Rising Dawn while riding. Gandalf anyone?
June 11, 2012 at 2:32 pm
That would be awesome and I hope that they have something like that with mounted combat because I would create a LM just for that.
June 12, 2012 at 2:57 pm
Nerd alert: why are our mounts Mearas? I thought they were pretty rare and only could be ridden by the Lords of the Mark (and Gandalf).
Oh well. I bet they can’t go into Moria, though.
June 12, 2012 at 5:04 pm
You found out their secret…turns out all the players are Lords of the Mark (or Gandalf)…just kidding
Seriously though I think that for mounted combat to work they needed mounts with the speed of Mearas to make the mechanic work. Then to make it work from a lore point of view they used this answer.

Mearas… The “Descendant” of an unknown line of horses. Son of Shadowfax, anyone? I really like that we get to customize the color and tack of our mounts; that said Mearas were almost exclusively grey/silver….
