This week we invite Ketani and Elborigorn on to discuss the Riders of Rohan expansion offers and their differing opinions…. or so we told them in order to get them on the show for a much more important reason.
Goldenstar’s Dum Time we attempted Attack at Dawn skirmish with five and then dummed it up at the end. We then picked up a friend and headed into Grand Stair and completed hard mode for more Moria tokens. I used up my gathered tokens and got 3 pieces of the Moria set.
Merric did epic long weatherstock broadcast with Goldenstar.
Ketani is leveling a new warden, getting my champ through Moria (loving the revamp!), working on deeds for my burg…
Elborigorn led his Kinship, Endeavor, to it’s first kill of Saruman T2 in Tower of Orthanc, Pestered creeps to no end. it’s good to be a warden, Enjoyed doing horse sessions daily in anticipation of RoR.

Riddles in the Dark
Riddles in the Dark is a bi-weekly podcast series by Dr. Corey Olsen (The Tolkien Professor) and David Kale. Discussion will focus on the themes, characters, and events of Middle-earth and lay the groundwork for intelligent speculation about how the book may be translated to film. Each episode will culminate in the hosts making a specific prediction about the upcoming films, to be proven or disproven when the films are finally released.
More information on RITD can be found at http://www.mythgard.org/exclusives/riddles-in-the-dark/
Prediction: How will Gollum in The Hobbit compare to his portrayal in The Lord of the Rings?
A. He will be portrayed as more sympathetic, perhaps by showing flashbacks or emphasizing his kinder “Smeagol” side.
B. He will be pretty much the same.
C. He will be seem less sympathetic and more wicked and threatening, consistent with his long possession of the Ring.
D. None of the above. Corey and Dave just lack sufficient imagination when it comes to brainstorming answers.
Andang’s Response
If you listened to the show then you know Tolkien Prof. opened it up to include all sorts of crazy ideas and so here is a crazy one.
I am going to go with “D” and here is why…
Andy Serkis forgot which impression he was suppost to do and so he did a seagol voice instead of Gollum. He actually just gives the ring to Bilbo without any riddles or anything. Since he is also a director, everyone thought it was correct and did not mention it to him. They do not notice the mistake until after they already sent the theatrical release tapes to theatres. This will be corrected by the DVD release but could confuse auiences in theatures, and rightfully so.

Dear merric and goldenstar,
I was listening to your podcast about the riders of rohan release, and you said a few things about a proposed new city called snowbourn
. When i heard that it would be a town that got built as people completed quests for the npcs there, I became extremely excited. I also began thinking of the Warfronts in Rift.
So here is my idea: Snowbourn gets rebuilt by level 75-85 players doing the quests, and every so often when it nears completion, there is the lotro equivelent of a Warfront. Hundreds of badies, including some bosses and Lutentants-of-the-enemy, start attacking. Some will be scheduled, others will be randomly triggered when it gets close to a certian point of completion and there are enough players in the area to defend it. Skirmish soldiers would be allowed within the city without purchasing landscape time until the attack is done. Certain buffs, such as experiance and morale bonuses would be awarded by keeping control of certain parts of the city.
I wanted to tell you guys and all your listeners of my idea so that a critical mass of players would be asking for something similar that turbine would listen.

Dear Goldenstar & Merric,
I remember you saying that the two of you met in an MMO. I thought you might be interested in my story…
My boyfriend and I met in LOTRO, and it was because of CSTM. The first time we met in game, it was during the first Fellowship Walk charity event (the one that went to Rivendell). I don’t recall if we spoke much at the time, but I remembered the incident enough to introduce myself the next time I saw him in game, on the Bullroarer server. We ended up running a few raids together there, and kept in touch from there. Soon, we were talking every day and before either of us realized what was happening, we were in love. The first time we met in person was at PAX East. We spent three days walking hand-in-hand around the convention center pretty much oblivious to everything except each other. At one point we’d circled around the Turbine booth enough times for Sapience to notice and comment, “Not all those who wander are lost.” That was the best way to sum things up, in fact. I felt like I had finally found my place in the world.
Now, over a year later, I can’t imagine my life without him. He is my best friend and the love of my life. And now I’m hoping for your help in asking him a very important question…

Big congrats again to you both!
Wedding cake looking like the tower of orthanc with a little cappy and warden holding hands on the top?
I had a feeling GS was hiding something she was trying really hard not to let slip. From the sound of the voice “super excited” doesnt quite describe it.

I just want to add my congratulations to those of my fellow listeners above. Still grinning I have to confess
.
As all have said, that has to be the best Player Achievement ever
.
Well done for keeping it secret too, especially with the ‘cliffhanger’ of the unexpected call to work
