This week we discuss the latest 7.1 patch, screenshot contest, community Q&A, store sales and more!
Goldenstar did not have a lot of time to play this week. She even missed Dum Time. She did log in a bit for the Spring Festival but not much else. She’s working on a jigsaw puzzle!
Merric didn’t really play at all. He sure has no problem giving Goldenstar grief about puzzles though. At least she actually played LOTRO this week. Am I right?!
Enough with this silly intro that I’m certain very few to no one reads and onto the links of importance!

Hello!
During the Spring Festival, I’ve been working on Inn League and Ale Association reputation. I recently looted a small reputation accelerator. Will it give more negative reputation as well or just give more positive reputation?
I’d be grateful for any answers to this question

Dear Silvers and Lhoss,
This week I actually got a lot done on my main! I cleared out a couple quests node in The Great River, earning Friend with the Riders of Stangard, and managed to complete a couple of the Isengard 3-mans with sub-optimal groups, completing the Pits with a Rune-Keeper, Minstrel, and Burglar as well as completing Dragnakh with two burglars and a Rune-Keeper. I also completed Dragnakh once while actually managing to live through the last fight, something I hadn’t done in any time I’ve previously run that instance.
I also helped successfully kill the Watcher in the Water with a group of kinnies, many who had never done so before. It was rough going at first, despite us all being level 75, but we kept at it and eventually had a great Sushi feast of dead squid, and got a few people their Savior of Khazad-Dum deeds done. I’ve attached a couple screenshots of our group. Sorry they aren’t very good, it’s hard to get people to pose when they just want to get some phat lootz.
During #dumtime, we worked on the Epic storyline. Got Dumidum caught up, and then finished off the Moria quests including 2.6.8. Which is no longer six-man-able! It is now solo/duo only! Poop to that.
So we split into groups of Dumi/Sodum, Hoppy/Laydedum, and me by myself. Then we raced to the end. Laydedum got booted off a ledge and got the NPC killed. Had to start over. Last place. The tank/mini went angry hands and Overpower and crushed for first place. I got second by default.

Belwynne
I enjoyed your discussion on the last podcast. Later it occurred to me, and I’m just sharing my 2 coppers, that I think it will be a voice over (gandalf’s voice) and the first words in the opening will be “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit”.
Tokien invented the words and then had to invent with what the word meant. In the case of The Hobbit, he literally wrote the phrase “in a whole in the ground there lived a hobbit” while grading exams and later had to invent a hobbit; he came up with Bilbo. Those few words started the whole Hobbit/LOTR cycle. I am just guessing Jackson’s team won’t miss such an iconic opening.
It’s fun to speculate.

Hello CSTM,
This is Pinkfae from Landroval. I am writing to you to make two requests. First, I see you have Secrets of Middle-earth listed as one of the LOTRO podcasts. His podcasts are very good, but very few. Were you aware he has a character in the Lonely Mountain Band? I was wondering if you could try to get him on your show.
Secondly, I noticed yo don’t have a lore-master guide at all. I would love to be a guest blogger and put up a series of guides for the lore-master.

Hello Merric and Goldenstar! I have a question about the legendary items panel that I can’t seem to find the answer to. Hopefully, you will know. On the numbered tabs you click to select your item, some tabs have a green and red dot on either side of the number. What does this mean?
Thanks,
Asiralaen

Ok… Hobnanigans…
I got to play it once on Bullroarer. You have two teams, each player armed with a kind of polo stick. A chicken acts as the ball. You used the sticks to knock the chicken across the field and into your goal. IIRC, there was a set number of points to reach. The first team to reach that number of points wins. And the chicken, being a chicken, was just as likely to go flying in a direction you did not intend after you hit it. Of course, it would also try to run away from both teams. It was chaotic fun. Shame the game isn’t available anymore.

instead of turning off exp gain, a level matching system would probably be more useful

Concerning the rangers not being around to guard Bree: this has already been taken into account in the game. Two skirmishes cover what happened as a result of the rangers being away. Alas poor Matt Heathertoes.
I can’t see anything worse happening seeing that Butterbur seemed to imply that the incident in the skirmishes was the worst thing to happen within Bree itself while the rangers were away.

I would LOVE to turn off XP! This way I can do slayer, class deeds, or skirmishes without leveling up. I play almost every day, but have a friend I love to play with who can only play once or twice a month. We like to level up our toon together and be able to do the same quests at the same time. I would love to be able to still play with my toon and get to know him better instead of putting him on hold or leveling up ahead of my friend’s toon.

@ Asiralaen of Vilya,
Your question, “On the numbered tabs you click to select your item, some tabs have a green and red dot on either side of the number”
Those dots designate whether the LI is a WEAPON or a CLASS item.
For example, the dots let me know that it is a Runestone; the lack of dots represent a Rune-satchel.

I wonder how Turbine is going to handle the war steed for Hobbit and Dwarf characters. They seem to have gone to great pains to be lore-appropriate with ponies instead of full-size horses to this point.

You mentioned asking Fr. Roderick to come on your show — never has a better idea ever been formulated! Sliced bread be damned!
