This week’s poll suggestion was emailed in to us by Doddamer, Farlee, and Grendald of Silverlode (I believe this is one person listing all his alts – I”ll just call him Dodders).
Dodders writes:
I really like what they did with evindim, and i’m curious what people would like to see revamped after Moria.
We’re curious, too! Now for our choices we stuck with the old Eriador regions (listing every region ever was not going to happen here) but if you don’t see your answer as a choice, feel free to select other and leave a comment!
Which region do you think should be revamped next?

Trollshaws is such a beautifull region, and some of the quests are O.K, but there is really no flow what so ever to it, and only 2 and a half hubs (Barachans is a bit of a nothing), and a lot of (I suspect un played content). I wonder if anyone ever does those spider fellowship quests and Giant Valley other than me? Be great to see it streamlined a little more.
May 27, 2012 at 9:38 am
I absolutely agree! It would be perfect if they revamped it to help out in the early 40s because after Evendim, you kind of end up spending the next few levels hopping around from zone to zone looking for somewhere to quest.
May 28, 2012 at 10:28 pm
Yup, I put Trollshaws too, because there is so much unused space. It should be a good place to quest and explore, but it’s just… not. Right now, when people ask me “should I buy trollshaws or (some other zone)” I always tell them to go for the other zone since currently TS is almost completely useless
May 26, 2012 at 2:37 pm
SOMEthing in the early 40s range, to make the gap between Evendim and Forochel {or Eregion} better.
May 27, 2012 at 3:27 am
Evendim quests are lvl 30-40 and forochel 44-50. And Trollshaws really need revamp.
May 26, 2012 at 2:42 pm
I really, really hate Angmar, and all the pre-Moria class quests roll through it. That makes it a prime candidate for a revamp, in my opinion.
May 26, 2012 at 3:45 pm
I agree 100%
May 26, 2012 at 10:06 pm
Completely agree. A mandatory zone. Much as I’d like to see a revamped Trollshaws, it’s possible to skip it except for the Epic.
May 27, 2012 at 3:04 pm
No joke, I ended up spending 6+ gold to buy the drops I needed from the AH in order to complete my champ class quests. They should consider making it a little bit more solo-able. Just a little.
May 26, 2012 at 2:54 pm
Great Poll. I voted Trollshaws because every time I go through that zone I think ‘is that it?’ I think there’s so much potential there but the flows seems all missed up and there’s a lot of space that’s not really used as well as it could be.
May 26, 2012 at 2:54 pm
In all honesty, most of those zones are skippable now. You take Evendim to 40ish, run around a bit in Angmar, MM or Forochel to 45, then hit Eregion and Moria.
I honestly don’t recall the last time I did any North Downs quests, or Trollshaws for that matter. For the record, my vote is ND.
May 26, 2012 at 2:54 pm
Trollshaws!
May 26, 2012 at 2:57 pm
I voted trollshaws, nothing wrong with it really but the travels there are annoying like getting to thorenhad + like said before everyone probably uses it as moria was used before: get in and asap out on other side. While the graphics and music here are awesome and nobody hardly knows.
May 26, 2012 at 2:57 pm
Misty Mountains. There’s such an annoying leveling gap in the early 40s, and I’d love to see the Misties make more sense, provide a more coherent story, and involve less back-and-forth with Rivendell. Forochel is such a great zone, and I’d love to see LOTRO’s other wintry zone have just as much visual and quest interest.
May 26, 2012 at 2:58 pm
I’m down with the Shaws too. I think it could make a nice alternative to Evendim to cover the 30-40 range or to Angmar to cover the 40-50 range.
Heck, Trollshaws for 30-40, Misties to cover 40-50 and Eregion then picks up at 50 and rolls into Moria. It’s not *quite* a perfect Fellowship path, but, eh.
May 26, 2012 at 3:05 pm
Forochel please. all it really needs is more swift travels. Angmar just isn’t miserable enough to be enjoyable, so that would be my second choice
May 26, 2012 at 3:26 pm
My vote is for Angmar. It is still the only zone of it’s size that really *feels* like an epic zone. All those elites roaming all over the place. I understand it’s no longer even close to an end-game zone, and that the game has moved away from such large areas requiring good fellowships to make it through, but at least give us *something* like this again.
I’d love to see something the size and scope of Angmar instanced and scaled. Can you imagine what it’d be like trekking across the landscape to the Rift at 75 if the zone scaled accordingly?
May 26, 2012 at 3:27 pm
I half suspect that ND is in the works as we’ve had the recent fornost tweak. That said I reckon it’s a tossup between there and the shaws.
Angmars only real downside is a lack of travel points to some of the quest hubs. Similarly trollshaws could really do with a rejig of the taxi’s and their paths. Rivendell to anywhere in eregion takes just a wee bit too long for most people.
May 26, 2012 at 3:38 pm
First of all thanks for using my poll Goldenstar, you guys are the greatest. I voted trollshaws for a complete revamp staying at 40-50. Double the quests and make our similar to what they did in evindim and that would be great.
May 26, 2012 at 4:22 pm
The ETTENMOORS
May 27, 2012 at 3:39 am
Ettenmoors?! It’s a place for pvmp not questing and leveling!!
May 27, 2012 at 9:40 am
If we’re talking PvMP, I’d much rather see a new zone than a revamp of the same old area from 5 years ago. :/
May 27, 2012 at 2:11 pm
Yep. Would be great if thete would be ruined city like annuminas
May 26, 2012 at 4:30 pm
I went for the misty mountains, it seems a shame to have several zones bunched up around the same level (a hang up from shadows of Angmer I guess)and maybe they could push the level up a bit and provide a complementary zone to Moria – but with daylight.
And perhaps get a few more Hobbit links in to tie in with the upcoming film.
May 26, 2012 at 4:33 pm
I voted North Downs, but I wouldn’t mind them going Lonelands, Trollshaws, Misty Mountains…then Northern Mirkwood, Lonely Mountain…
That would be great, but it just doesn’t feel like we will ever get those areas.
May 29, 2012 at 5:42 am
Lonelands? But those already got a great revamp… :-/
May 29, 2012 at 10:14 pm
I like Lone Lands too. All the quest hubs are connected and flow well.
May 26, 2012 at 6:13 pm
Trollshaws, because I don’t own North Downs or Misty Mountains, all 3 want a revamp. the epic quest doesn’t touch Evendim until book 8/9 and through the 30s, It’s in the North Downs
after North Downs it goes to the Trollshaws which is bearable (but mostly underleveled for MM)
I never got to the right side of the MM until I did that IL/AA quest (can’t remember which)
May 26, 2012 at 6:24 pm
Trollshaw! Its such a big area with no real flow at all. I skip this trollshaw cause of this. If they would fix and revamp this place, Id do it!
May 26, 2012 at 6:37 pm
Forochel is my favorite region. The ONLY thing wrong with it is that it is too far removed from everything. It has a great story, and a good quest density.
The other 3 do need revamps, but for me it’s a toss up between Angmar and Trollshaws. Angmar has a lot going for it, but it’s a lot of 3 man content that is just too hard to fill with a thin population at that level. Trollshaws does not have a lot going for it. There is not much content, it’s spread too far apart, and it is way too hard / long to travel between the quest hubs.
May 26, 2012 at 6:38 pm
The North Downs, too many group quest chains that go on forever.
May 26, 2012 at 7:25 pm
To me it should be Trollshaws or Angmar. I lean toward the former.
There’s so much cool stuff that can be done there, even with the areas they’ve already built and just super underutilized. The Guaredain area, for example, has a whole section of ruins and you have zero reason to ever go into it.
I also think it could help ease what a pain it is to get Rivendell rep.
May 26, 2012 at 8:53 pm
I was a little torn between Trollshaws, Misty Mountains and Angmar.
In my opinion, the Trollshaws really needs a revamp most. It needs a better quest flow to fill in those huge gaps, and at least one more stable-master (Barachen’s Camp anyone?). It should be *the* place to work on your Rivendell reputation.
Misty Mountains isn’t quite as bad, but could certainly use some work. The quests are spread a bit thin and you don’t have a whole lot of story linking them.
Angmar needs some love too, it seems to have plenty of quests, they are kind of spread out and there is no good ‘reason’ to do many of them – many give no rep, and the rewards leave a bit to be desired.
Regardless of which area is revamped, I’d love to see the gear rewards adjusted for the new ‘class stats’.
May 26, 2012 at 9:48 pm
There’s no Lone-lands? or has it already been revamped before I joined? but anyway I voted for Angmar because it is awesome and a revamp would make it even more awesome!
May 27, 2012 at 9:32 am
Lone Lands are actually pretty nice compared to MM, Angmar or Trollshaws.
May 29, 2012 at 10:15 pm
I think it was revamped not long after f2p came out
May 26, 2012 at 10:17 pm
i kinda like angmar as it is, easy lvling, quick quest chains and eerie ambiance that makes your skin crawl. I voted Trollshaws because its so lackluster and erm.. boring. You just do it to get thru it and never go back.
May 26, 2012 at 10:30 pm
i can’t believe you guys have all forgotten that Angmar just got a total quest overhaul a few years ago… seriously, i really wish every single person that voted for Angmar could have seen what it was like when the game launched… lol, you think it’s dismal now?
I also voted for the Trollshaws (although the Misties would be an easy second choice for me). there’s a lot of great space going to waste in that zone, and i agree that we need a better alternative than Angmar for the 40 to 45 range, if you opt out of Angmar (or don’t own it), you run out of things to do before you’re ready to hit Forochel or Eregion… i usually end up having to skirmish to get to 45, and that’s not right.
May 26, 2012 at 10:59 pm
I went with North Downs mostly because it feels like the most clearly forgotten region with the most potential. THe storyline possibilities with the history in and around Fornost, the core group of Rangers in Esteldin, the fact that its the only region where all three races have a base camp ALSO lends itself to the most possibilities on a revamp.
May 27, 2012 at 12:47 am
I am split between Trollshaws and North Downs, but I think Trollshaws needs that more. There are just too few quests in there, and they send you running (ro riding) to and fro all the time. The mobs near the road just make that even annoying. And it seems no one even go the the North Trollshaws to do any quest there. North Downs also has some challenging fellowship quests, but my problem with that is that I can never find anyone to complete them with.
May 27, 2012 at 12:49 am
None of them.
They are fine the way they are from my perspective.
After correcting their cowardly and shameful error from 5 years ago, they should be working on new content and bug fixes.
May 27, 2012 at 1:53 am
I voted Trollshaws. I completely agree with the previous comments. Trollshaws has so much potential that it simply doesn’t live up to. I find myself generally avoiding it altogether.
For what it’s worth, I absolutely love Angmar. It is by far one of my favorite zones and if it ever does get revamped, I sincerenly hope that it isn’t changed too drastically.
May 27, 2012 at 2:28 am
leave em alone I like em all.
May 27, 2012 at 2:32 am
Rather than revamp a zone, I’d like to see them tweak Lorien, Mirkwood, and Enedwaith to reflect that they’re no longer ‘endgame’. A lot of the structure in those zones only makes sense if there’s nowhere else to go.
They should (now) be set up to let players wrap things up and move on, rather than push players to come back day after day. Scale the instances, remove (or deemphasize) repeatable daily quests, and have the mobs drop rep items (ala Well Kept Mathoms) for the local factions.
May 27, 2012 at 6:57 pm
Definitely agree with this. Trollshaws and North Downs need revamps, but so do these former end-cap regions which never get changed after the level cap is raised. Lothlorien’s bizarre grind for silver branch tokens makes no sense when you can simply outlevel the region and barter items so quickly and easily.
May 27, 2012 at 3:30 am
I’m seconding the vote for the Moors. Beyond generally pvmp gripes, which I won’t be getting into. Since I doubt we’ll ever get a new pvmp map… It would be nice if the current one was upgraded. It’s a lovely area and the content there could really use some attention. I might be alone, but I think it would be fun to have some better storylines behind the actions we take.
May 27, 2012 at 5:54 am
Ettenmoors would be my personal choice as I spend so long there and it has never had any proper changes.
May 27, 2012 at 10:42 am
Angmar. Noone goes there anymore. Too many fellowship quests, on levels when everyone is heading to Moria.
I like to have alternatives, and I would like to finish Angmar, but it’s hard to find group for questing.
May 27, 2012 at 11:12 am
I fear a major revamp of Angmar would break it.
More quests in the southern part? Sure, why not. Trash the fellowship quests and build in a few more solos. But *please* don’t touch anything else!
Angmar is by far the only region in the game where you actually witness how powerful Saurons evil forces have already become. Dol Guldur feels kinda dark and scary and Isengard does not feel threatening at all.
So my vote goes to Misty Mountains. With the hobbit movie coming december this year, I think a lot of people would love to visit this area and honestly: There’s really not much there worth seeing.
May 27, 2012 at 11:41 am
We need a new free region, and a revamped North Downs would be nice…
May 27, 2012 at 2:09 pm
Angmar, but with a light touch, like Moria, not heavy-handed like Evendim.
May 27, 2012 at 2:48 pm
The other bit. When revising Angmar, #1 best thing they could possibly do.
Make CD & Uru into scalable skirmishes.
May 27, 2012 at 4:46 pm
The North Downs was slated for a revamp but was put on hold for whatever reason. I think it will be the next, especially since they made Fornost scalable and broke it up into three parts. I agree with many of the previous posts, Trollshaws and Misty Mountains need a revamp as well. I really like what they did with Evendim, let’s hope they continue in that vein.
May 27, 2012 at 6:24 pm
I voted Angmar mostly because what I really want the devs to revamp next is the instances. Carn Dum, Urugarth, and The Rift of Nurz Ghashu could be awesome if they were broken up and made level 50-75. The actual questing in Angmar isn’t bad, except they do need to add more explanation about the line of instant death. I read quest text, and I still didn’t figure out what killed me until I died twice!
For just questing, I agree with the majority that Trollshaws needs work. The only good parts currently are Bilbo’s stone trolls, and the quest chain that ends with a Gollum encounter. It would be great if they could do more with those trolls, maybe some kind of flashback instance with Bilbo in honor of the upcoming movie. And the quest chain that ends with Gollum is so long and boring, that I expect a lot of people never make it far enough to see Gollum.
May 27, 2012 at 11:20 pm
While I know Trollshaws is the region that lacks adjust the most, I would love to see a new, epic Angmar. This is such an important place to Middle Earth..
May 28, 2012 at 9:59 am
I’d vote for either Angmar or the MM. Both are spots you need to head to get your epic books done. I think MM would be better to do as Eregion is another option for the pages you can get from Angmar.
I know you can go to Forochel instead of MM, but that area is so painfully bleak and you already need to hit MM for Book 5 anyhow. It’d also be nice if you could pick up class items for the 45 quests somewhere other than just Angmar. I’m all for keeping the third stage stuff in Uru and CD though.
May 29, 2012 at 8:10 am
Trollshaws, for sure. I can’t stand it. I’ve just taken my mini in there for the book quests, and I’m already busting to get out.
Other than that, Misty Mountains. Again, not a fan. The solo content there is fairly light, so it’s no problem to skip. Again, I’ll only just go in there for the epic. Gah, that epic, dragging me through, face first, all the zones in the game.
May 29, 2012 at 11:06 am
I voted other, Bree-Lands.
Don’t get me wrong, the area is great to quest.
I just wish there were more quests in the far north-east and east. I recall finding a big orc cammp in the east, when i was questing there 5 years ago, and then searching for quests to do in there because i liked the camp so much.
May 29, 2012 at 10:20 pm
There is an orc camp by the horse farm that does have quests that is northeast. There is another one more middle east by Midgewater Pass that has quests, but they are from Lone Lands.
May 30, 2012 at 5:56 pm
I feel like the trollshaws needs to be revamped quest wise and maybe get 1-2 scaleable instances but angmar really needs an instance update because they look so cool but no one seems to play them because there is such a narrow level range. I would also love if in the trollshaws the added more level 40+ quests because it’s hard to jump from tal bruinen to erigion, also the random level 50 angmar guys are way too close to tal bruinen, there only 60 meters away and they are so close that they will kill an unsuspecting level 40!!!
May 30, 2012 at 7:25 pm
I was torn between Misty and the Shaws, and ended up voting Misty. Travel in Trollshaws is irritating, and the space is definitely underused, but Misty is even worse. I finished most of the hubs in Trollshaws (except the group quests – I think those are the ones that bring you in the northen area by the undead? and the giant quests…), but I couldn’t get out of Misty fast enough. Pity, because it’s pretty there! There’s just no flow and so little story.
I actually liked Angmar, for the most part!
May 30, 2012 at 9:30 pm
I would rather see a new level 50-60 zone, for those who do not want to run Moria again… i have been trying to level my 2nd toon with skirms and dungeons… but its slow going… would love to see an alternative zone..
