The $99.99 for one-year of VIP subscription deal is back. This is something we’ve seen a few times and always for a limited time. There is no listed date as to when this special ends.
This is cheaper than the current multi-month subscription that equates to $9.99 per month. This special is a yearly savings of $19.89 (or almost 2-months free VIP time compared to the $9.99 per month plan). The single month plan is $14.99 so would be even a better deal if you are switching from that plan.
Comparing the $99.99 yearly cost to the other subscription plans:
- $9.99 / mo = $119.88 / year (16% savings)
- $14.99 / mo = $179.88 / year (44% savings)
While it is quite a bit in up-front costs, this is a good deal if you plan to be playing LOTRO for a while.

Fingers crossed that they will have a Lifetime Subscription offer during the anniversary period. I think they did last year, although I could be mistaken.

selling lifetime subscriptions is extremely bad for business, so i doubt we’ll see anything like that on a large scale anytime soon.

As our friend Crell points out, if they’re willing to sell 23,000 Turbine Points for $200 and you can essentially buy all of the game content and have a F2P account, isn’t that like a lifetime account?

Yes true, I forgot about the new TP packages. My mistake was passing on the $99 Lifetime Account offer they had roughly 2 years ago. I still get wife aggro over that….

If you are able to buy every quest pack, skirmish and have all your virture/class slots available, the only thing you are really missing out on is PvP. Otherwise you are a Lifetime member.

Except the current lifetime subs include a monthly allowance of 500TP (6000TP per year).

I’d pay $200 a month for a “lifetime lite” subscription that has all of the VIP content (zones, quests, skirmishes) and features (no gold cap, character slots, destiny points, etc.), but without the 500 TP a month.

European players can have a deal at 89,99€ for one year when upgrading from f2p/premium to a subscription plan, if going for the 12 month plan. That makes one months at about 7,5€.
Not too sure if it is temporary or exclusive to upgrading or available even to new accounts.

Interesting. They will sell/market some lifetimes to websites,
but not to us for a game that almost died under subscription only and is now 5 years old. As someone has already said, you can buy almost every facet of the game besides the little sandbox with a merry-go-round called the moors. You can play there for free with the underdogs “like never before”.
Not biting.

You miss more than just PvP if you’re not paid. You get rest XP as a paid player. Which helps with leveling. You also get to use all those destiny points that F2P players get but can’t spend. I’m sitting on 40k of destiny points I can’t use for anything but monster play which doesn’t interest me at all. For a F2P player you have to use TP to get those same buffs. In my opinion, the biggest thing about being a paid player is being able to use those destiny points and getting rest xp. The monthly TP rations aren’t bad either.

Thanks for posting about this, because it caused me to go back and take a look at my payment options. I had been paying $14.99/month, and while I don’t think I am ready to plunk down $99 for a year, I did change to the $9.99/month option, so that will be a tad more cash in my pocket.

I may just do this, I don’t plan on going any where soon, I’ve tried just about every mmo out there and I always keep coming back to lotro. May as well save a few dollars.
