Tier 7 Stat Tome until March 29th

The tier 7 stat tomes were available back in January and they have returned until March 29th. It is important to point out here that this is not a sale, just a limited time release.

I was unable to check if they were included in this week’s stat tome sale but this release is longer than this week’s sale so my guess is no. If you can see the tier 7 tomes in the store, please feel free to comment if they’re listed on sale!

Like the other tiers of stat tomes, tier 7 tomes are 295 Turbine Points each. They are not included in the tome bundles you find in the store.

On Sale until March 18th

50% off Green Dyes and Golf Emotes in celebration of Bullroarer Took Day. Very fitting sale given the occasion!

They however not very needed even at 50% off. Friendly neighborhood scholars can help you with green dye and the emotes can be earned in game.

Golf Drive and Golf Putt require kindred with the Grey Company (Enedwaith barterers) and can be purchased for 5 silver tokens of the wild and 5 golden tokens of the wild each. Golf Chip is earned by completing the deed “The Long Road of the Hobbits”.

To see what the emotes look like in game you can check out our video on the free to play emotes.

Weekly Store Sale

The following items are on sale from March 16-22, 2012.

Stat Tomes

Trolls pounding you into submission? Friends defeated because you can’t heal them fast enough? Then it may be time to upgrade your character’s Agility, Fate, Might, Vitality, or Will stats. Don’t worry, there are many easy ways to upgrade these stats! Level up your character. Get better gear by completing quests, crafting, and using the auction-house. Or use permanent stat boosting tomes that are dropped by enemies or purchased through the LOTRO Store. Food and drinks acquired in-game can also provide temporary boosts to your stats. Check out the details on each stat tome type here!

Levels: Varies

236

Stat tomes are always popular items especially when on sale. These tomes can drop in game but they seem to be a bit on the rare-ish side. But it is an in-game option if you want to check the Auction House first. Note that you cannot apply a tier 2 stat tome until you’ve applied a tier 1, etc. I learned this when my Burglar won a tier 3 will tome in a lottery and wasn’t able to apply it.

tomesMilestone Skills

Set multiple instant-travel destinations! Unlock an additional destination skill to bind at Milestones. 5 additions available! Milestones, or “homes”, are locations that you can instantly travel to from anywhere in the world. Players can bind to one destination at a time for free, and purchasing additional Milestone Skills allows players to access more than one destination at a moment’s notice!

Levels: All
350
280

CSTM RECOMMENDATION: I have not purchased these and really haven’t seen a need to. My game is unchanged to how I’ve been playing it for years with just the single milestone. I can see how they would be desirable and do not fault anyone for buying them. Typically I hear that folks like to have two and past that it’s a bit excessive. One for where they are questing and one for where they craft.

Simple Rally Horn

Travelling throughout Middle-earth can be time-consuming, but with a Simple Rally Horn you’ll spend less time waiting for your friends and more time adventuring with them. Yes, less really is more! Summon a member of your fellowship to your side with the Simple Rally Horn!

Store Location: Travel & Housing → Summoning Items → Fellowship
Levels: 15+
95
76

CSTM RECOMMENDATION: This is totally unnecessary for game-play but as someone who has benefited from being summoned to the group I can tell you these are pretty darn nifty. Not necessary so much for those enjoying dungeons and skirmishes with the instance join panel but if out questing with groups of friends this could save time.

    Great summary, as always!

May be worth explicitly mentioning with the additional Milestone skills that they do not have a separate cooldown; I’ve only bought two on any given character, and those at least share the same cooldown. If they were indeed separate, I’d say this would be a definite must have… but as they don’t, meh. :)

If you’re going to get an extra milestone skill, get the 30 minute cooldown passive skill as well. That’s the only way it’s remotely worth the purchase.

That being said, I do have 1 extra milestone on my minstrel, which is set to the ox-clan camp. No running through orcs for me.

I think the 30 minute option is worth it either way.

I did the same thing with my second milestone on my main, though. If only that camp had a stable point.

I’ve found the extra milestone to be fairly useful for a couple of my characters; crafters that are too low level to have useful fast-travel options to Esteldín use one there and one at their current questing hub.
Also, it’s a timesaver when doing Volume I of the epic quest (unless you’re a hunter), since you often have to return to a place you haven’t been for a while that isn’t easily accessible, like Echad Candelleth or Gath Forthnír. And of course one for Rivendell for all the junk you need to show Elrond.

So I’d say the extra milestone(s) are most useful from the time you enter Rivendell to the time you enter Moria; level 35-50, perhaps?

Leaving a milestone at Echad Candelleth is almost worth the purchase by itself; I’d rather wait out even an hour cooldown than take that eternal horse ride from Rivendell.
