Turbine is asking for player input on classes and possible changes that could be made to them with the Riders of Rohan expansion.
Riders of Rohan will bring with it a level cap increase. Raising the level cap gives us an opportunity to rebalance classes, add new skills, and adjust old ones that might not be as useful as they should be.
Head to this thread on the LOTRO forums to answer the four questions Turbine has posed. Be sure to list the class you are suggesting for and it’s best if you limit your answers to just the questions and avoid commenting on other’s comments.
- Name 3 things about your class you feel could be improved.
- What skills do you feel are underpowered or of little value to your class? Please limit your answer to 3. Briefly explain why you feel this way.
- What skills do you think could be added to your class to help you better perform your role in groups or improve your solo performance? Please limit your answer to 3 skills and explain why you feel this way. Also include how you see the skill being used (solo or group play).
- If you were limited to only one of your nine suggestions above , which single suggestion do you feel is most important for your class?
Feel free to share your answers here if you wish but remember only posting on the LOTRO forums is where you can submit your ideas to Turbine!

it’s funny to see we guardians share the same suggestions, seems that i’m not the only one with such problems

It’s an interesting request, but after reading many of the posts, you start to wonder if some of these people know how to play their class.
I’m not an expert on all the classes, but after talking with some of my kin members, who I would call experts on their respective classes, many of them were shocked what people were requesting.
It’ll be interesting to see what feedback Turbine takes and implements.

Yeah, like more power restoring skills for guardians…

Which is why I am really reluctant to respond:)
This is my first MMO and I am soloing primarily. So my assumption tends to be that some of the classes of my alts (like the Loremaster) are not broken – I am just not playing them as intended.
I am going to leave it to more experienced players to respond and keep trying to learn as much as I can about the classes I play!

I am pleased to see that most of my fellow wardens identify similar issues.
I am surprised, however, by the number submissions, in general, that sound like they want to play a hybrid of their class and another, ie Wardens with guard skills, Loremasters with Mini skills, burgs with champ skills, etc. Meanwhile, there seems to be a good number of “give me something to make my class distinct” submissions.
Moral of the story: Can’t please everybody I guess.

I’m just confused by the requests, alot of the skills and traits they dont use or like are my primaries and I have good success with them. I guess everybody plays different. I agree that it seems alot want to become more hybrid classes that can do a bit of everything. Hope they dont allow too much of that or what is the point of diff classes
not a clue but I am happy that the devs are asking in the first place

Hmmm…how many hundreds of threads and thousands of posts have been submitted to the Turbine class forums over the last few years from players begging and pleading for every conceavable thing wrong with every class to be fixed?…and now Turbine wants all that content to be repeated on a little quicky, snapshot thread? To me this says they have not been paying attention all this time, and it is rather an insult to those who have already put in tremedous effort at intelligent suggestions and have apparently been ignored. What would be much better is for a dev thread to appear that itemizes all the things that have been said over the last couple of years that they should have been paying attention, and explaining how those suggestions will be implemented. This seems like quite a blunder to me.

well said, and I agree that a summation of the suggestion forum with a poll would have been more fitting.

I don’t see it as that. I doubt they’ll put a lot more energy into fulfilling these requests as opposed to previous ones. I imagine they’ll be taken into account as a whole.
I think it simply makes sense for them to clearly ask this for a few reasons — 1.) it implies they’re actually paying some attention in a public way and 2.) it could get people who normally don’t post a ton in respective class forums to give their opinion.
I see why someone can feel that way, but I’m not sure that that’s the only way it can go.

2 of my minstrel’s capstones don’t feel Legendary and I don’t like any of my burglar’s Legendary traits
the lore-master’s legendary traits…I think I’m the only one without having Sword and Staff and Improved Sticky Gourd equiped at all times (most of the time the 3rd legendary is March of the Ents) Noble Savage is only on with a Bog-Lurker/Eagle too…most Lore-Masters feel that Sword and Staff is compulsory and it HAS to be on
If Lore-Masters were changed, I’d try to balance the Legendary Traits

I am concerned about classdrift-wardens wanting heavy armor, guards wanting more self-heals. I’d prefer WB keep classes more directed to their purpose rather than courting the majority’s opinion… Frankly, I’m more concerned with in-game summoning of skirmish heroes… Now there will be less fellowship experience wben we neef more…

Stuff like wardens getting hewavy armour would need tied into the tanking tree, heavy plus ranged combat would lead to moans from hunters. But doing that would require another gear set in the bank or bags. And wardens have the self buffs for defense so heavy isnt really needed.
I think most classes are working pretty well in balance to each other, only things I can think of are a short reduction to hunters induction times to allow a bit more mobility however that would no doubt lead to potential pvmp moans. Or making minstrels able to join groups as dps and stay as dps, but that requires changing players attitude more than the actual class.
Maybe making the bagpipes actually sound like a set of pipes rather than a digital cat being wrung through a mangle.

make the sound more like the Theorbo (blending together through ballads anthems coda). It’ll still sound horrible, just without the fading after every note
March 4, 2012 at 7:20 pm
The visual style they went for is the scottish pipes but having tried to learn back when I was at school I know they dont sound that bad even in the hands of a novice. A red hot chilli piper I wasn’t.

Let me preface my suggestions by saying I am a founder and a lifetime subber.
I am so happy they seem to be polling the player base for ideas for some new skills. I only have one idea that i am completely certain on so far.
1. For the love of all the is holy give champions/guardians/captains the CHARGE ability from every MMO that has ever existed from the beginng of time. This simple functionality of an short cool-down instant gap closer for heavy melee classes is perhaps one on the most fundamental skills for these melee archetype classes. LOTRO has been out for a long time, there is no reason that this skill should not be in the game.

Forget class upgrades, I want another hobby in the game! We have a hobbit hobby, fishing, give me a dwarf hobby, maybe stonecarving, an elf hobby, something nature related, bird watching?, and a man hobby something with horses perhaps? I don’t know, but this has been a neglected part of the game since the beginning.
