The Treasure Event is now live across all servers! It will be running from now until February 26th and according to Turbine includes 2 new quests and new rewards. If you haven’t been to the event take a look at Ketani’s Treasure Hunt Guide, which will be updated with the new information as soon as we can.
So go get your picks and start digging!

Where did Turbine say are the new quests? I still see only the same two repeatables as before.

Their description on the site said so but I think they just meant there were two new quests to do (since previous versions of this event haven’t been announced). Merric wouldn’t know that since he barely did the event last time.

I wish berries were more common, but it’s not been unbearable. It’s otherwise quite fun. The fact that you can unearth random items in addition to barter tokens is nice… I’ve gotten some of the emotes and equipment that way and was able to save my tokens for other things
Too bad you can’t trade in tokens for picks. Even if they were kind of expensive, it’d be a nice option.

Has there been an increase in drop rate of items in the chests? I did the event for about 3-4 hours last time and only got cosmetics but now I’ve been there in 10 minutes and got 3 emotes and the Cava-Claw horse. Or perhaps “better items” is more suitable.

2 hours and a ton of pics and I’ve found 1 huge site :\ All it had was 12 coins.

Huzzah!!! My Dwarf Champion main was having a horrible streak of luck (Large chests with 3 tokens several times in a row) but I FINALLY got a HUGE chest and found the Goat mount!
Not only is it really funny and cool looking, but being a Dwarf it fits my character perfectly. Finally a bit of luck!

I’m just happy they’re announcing the dates for this event instead of having it just appear for a couple of hours/days at a time and then disappearing.

Got a tactic that seems to work for me, didn’t get the horse but got 7 huge chests in 45 mins, basically use all your tokens buying dousing gems and only use picks with strong readings – I’ve got the backpack, 2 housing items and all the emotes using this tactic
, really want the horse though, maybe better luck tomorrow

Today morning i logged in, put out my cave-claw -> huge treasure (coins) – new round, walk some meters away, cave claw -> huge treasure (the horse with the goldensatchels) – new round -> walked a bit -> cave claw, big treasure (emote), walked a bit – hugh treasure (16 coins).. so 5 things in a row.. then i’ve only found big treasures and when i used my last pick on a big one, i had just 1 dousing over and found a huge trease (but no pic).. for luck, no one else found it in the 5 minutes till the questcounter resets ^^
BUT, you need MUCH luck! Too much imho =/

After running this event two times, full on (meaning cycling thru the alts and spending the day doing it) I am done done done. At first its fun and charming but the whole competing for berries wears down the fun pretty fast.
I already had bought all the cosmetics the 1st event and other than the mounts there was no incentive to come back. They had better add in diff cosmetics, change the berry hunting fights or no one will be back after a couple of these events. I know I wont.
Strategy? if you dont care to accumulate your tokens for future events and have all the cosmetics you want and only are looking for the mounts, then use your tokens to buy dowsing or my fav.. shrews to help narrow down the odds of your searches.
be prepared, even finding the huge sites doesnt mean much, you will still have a very rare chance of the steed. still the tokens you get will help pay for the gems/shrews for the next event.
good luck, and yes, the mounts and housing shrews are great fun

On the flip side, it sounds like you burned through this with a notable amount of characters lol. I think anyone would be tired of any event after doing that.

I managed to get the Cave Claw Horse.. Wow, that’s one ugly arse horse..
Really would like to get the treasure horse to go with the goat…

After a lot of effort I got myself the treasure pony.
Just the mount I wanted! Now just need to get the rich emote and I can be done with this event. …for now. I do hope they keep updating it and adding rewards!

It may be worth noting that there actually appears to be 2 huge treasures buried per round (at least in this iteration of the treasure hunt). I was fellowed with a kinmate in different parts of the same layer, and we both dug up huge treasures near simultaneously. Correspondingly, the layer shortly received 2 back-to-back messages that the round was over and the next would begin shortly. I saw these double round-ending messages uncommonly throughout my play session. My guess is that there are 2 huge treasures buried, but finding 1 of them will end the round. However, if both are found close enough together, they can both be dug up and both will trigger a round ending signal.

I agree. I managed to find 3 huge treasures on Belegaer. In the first two traesures are only Coins and the round doesn’t end. When I managed to find the 3rd huge treasure, iI got the goat, then I got an errormessage, telling me, that I already own the goat (which I doesn’t had before, wether in the horses-layer nor in my inventory) and after that I had a goat in my Inventory AND in my horse-layer.
A little bug i think but there are definitely more than one huge treasure at a time.

Just to add: the goat in my inventory is useless, since I cannot use it and it is bound on character, not on account

Check your skills. If you gotten the goat previously it auto adds to your mount skills, nothing for you to click on. It’s very possible this mount is useless you really do already own the mount and were not aware.

Perhaps there was an issue with the event round you were in as there is only 1 huge chest for each round. This is from Turbine’s dev diary. Each time I’ve gotten a huge cache myself, I witnessed the round ending. I’ve seen the multiple round ending messages. I have to think that it’s a bug, not the normal operation of the event.

Well, I am really shure, that I didn’t own the goat after the first two huge treasures! Why? Because after finding them I bought two faction-horses – completing my herd
– and then, after Lunch I found the goat in the third hugs treasure. In my mount skills list, the faction-horses come direkt after my other horses, then the new goat at the bottom of the list. So after all, the goat was my latest mount. Now I have another one in my Inventory and cannot use it on another char but I am glad, I found at least one of the new mounts 
By the way, there were some other bugs, I think:
- sometimes, I released a claw, but it was never visible, although I got a message, the claw was finding some treasure…but I can’t find the right side, because no sightable hole was there too
- at one time, my claw and another one were going to the same treasure sight. My counterpart was then able to dig
- one time, I recieved an errormessage like “Error 07000xxxx” after digging
But after all, it was great fun digging for treasure and I like the event
