How to be a Monster- Day 5

Day 5

Day five is a very busy day full of many adventures, hobbits beware.  I started the day out trying the warleader for the first time.  It is a fun class yet I like my defiler better.  The main advantages the warleader has include being able to revive others in combat and being able to do more DPS then the defiler.  The downside is that he can’t heal as well as the defiler can and needs to be closer in combat.  I decided that I would continue to level my defiler for now.

I did some solo questing because there were not very many Freeps online at this time.  I did several quests all around the Ettenmoors in attempts to get maps for my character.  That night I acquired several poor maps which allow me to navigate quickly around the zone (and steal more hobbitses’ pies).   We started to get a group together and decided to take outposts since there really were not any Freeps online.

While taking the outposts our group grew to a full raid.  Our crazy raid leader decided to do the most despicable thing a Freep could think of.  Yes that is right we headed to Hoar Hollow the land of the hobbits (and pies).  We started out only wanting pies but the hobbits would not give them to us.  We then asked them with an angry voice GIVE US YOUR PIES!  They didn’t respond so we decided to offer them gold but the hobbits would not take it.  They just screamed “run for your lives big scary monsters are coming.”  This caused the authorities of Hoar Hollow to get involved.

That is right, the selfish little halflings told us that we could not have their pies.  Not only that but they started firing arrows at us with fire in their eyes.  They would not give up their pies so we decided to take them.  We split up into eight groups and killed every single hobbit in their nasty hollow and we would never again be nice to hobbits with pies.  This day alone I personally got around 100 hobbit feet and many more pies.  We sang many happy orc songs, cheerful warg howls and spider um, hmm, and gleeful spider dances?

Then the strangest thing happened.  The hobbitses returned and they had pies as well.  Nasty hobbits with tricky pies playing evil tricks on us “monsters”.  Anyway after that scary time we went into an even scarier place, The Delving of Fror.

While I have talked in previous editions of “How to be a Monster” about The Delving of Fror there are 3 things I left out, the three bosses in Delving.  Today we will address our raids attempt on the hardest boss in LotRO.  This bosses name is Gaergoth the Unbound and has 900,000 health.  He is surrounded by around 20 searing urfons each with plenty of health themselves.  We decided that we were going to be crazy and attempt to take down this boss.  We had to get there first though and we decided to just run through all the monsters of The Delving to get to the uber boss.  This did not work out as well as we hoped because we ended up having to fight a lot of enemies in the lava area where we could run no further without attacking the epic boss.

Once we took care of all of the salamanders we preceded on to fight the boss.  Little did we know that we could not even take out all of the searing urfons.  We tried hard, had plenty of healers yet our tactics were not good enough this time for the boss.  We had a lot of fun though, trying to take out the hardest boss in LotRO.  I have done some research and feel more foolish for trying this fun task.  I found that no group has beaten this boss after the Isengard update (at the time this took place) when Turbine upgraded the boss to level 78 and only a few groups have ever beaten him before Isengard.  Anyway once our leader died he told us to all jump into the lava surrounding the pit so that we could respawn back on topside.

This was the last thing I was able to do on Day five as it was getting late.  As I have said before each day seems much better then the last as it gets more and more entertaining.  I am enjoying my defiler more and more each day and can’t imagine that changing anytime soon.
