We have an official dev diary posted today about the new event (not festival as this is not tied to seasons like our other events), Buried Treasurer.
Some players got to see a sneak peak of this event when it was live for a few short hours in December. From what I saw there were a few comments for improvements but overall players really enjoyed the event and lamented that it was so short lived!
Open to all players, this event has you digging for treasure. Lucky players will find some special cosmetics, housing items and even mounts (they buried horses??). While not an official guide (we’ll make one – don’t worry) that sneak peak gave us a good look at how the event works and we have pictures of the rewards that were able to be found.
I haven’t yet seen word on when the first run of the Treasure Hunt will be but I suspect very soon as there were lotteries for treasure hunter picks recently. Possibly we could be digging for treasure this weekend?

The event is “seasonally agnostic,” they say? In other words, the event isn’t sure whether or not it believes in seasons? Insert that Inigo Montoya quote about the meaning of words here.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

“Inconceivable!” LOL Great movie.

The word agnostic doesn’t need to have religious connotations.
In this case it means the event doesn’t care what season there is.

Lotro twitter said the event “will be next week and will run for a couple of days.”

Not a bad idea to start adding some mini festivals and events that arean’t season related. I think WoW has a hundred of them, and there’s always something like that going on. (Oops, did I just curse?)

OMG… Did ya see that horse!

So I stumbled upon something interesting today in Starkmoor. Anyone else notice that during the quest “Lost In the Mail”, when you have to retrieve the stolen goods from a small orc-camp south of Avardin, that the horses pulling the cart there appear to be the cave-claw type ones? They look identical to the mount you supposedly get from the treasure event!

As someone who has seen the cave-claw horse before (Bullroarer) I can tell you they are the same. No idea why those horses have that skin, either an Easter Egg or a glitch.

I enjoyed the event when they ran it. Less enjoyable was the fact the treasure picks were destroyed after one use and you had to wait to get new ones (or buy them from the store, but TP for something that has only one use?)
A friend of mine managed to win a mount during the event. So very jealous of him! It was a goat, and did indeed look like the cave-claw horses near Avardin. It looked good when he rode it (despite being a goat) as it trailed coins behind him as he rode around.

Having now had a chance to do this I can say its a fun little event, either run about digging at random or speculate on buying caveclaws to accumulate more tokens. Would be good to see this come back every month or so at random just to give a fun thing to do.
An hour got me 3 emotes, 3 housing bits (1 double), 2 cosmetics and the goat mount. The coin bite emote doesnt seem to be barterable which is good to have a reward rather than a barter grind.
