I’m very pleased to announce that we’ve partnered up with the wonderful folks at My Middle-earth to add our little LOTRO blog to their site through their new site offering system! We already share our podcast with Middle-earth Network and bringing the blog over seemed like the perfect way to tie all our offerings together.
Welcome to
cstm.mymiddle-earth.net
We will be maintaining our www.casualstrolltomordor.com address as well for any folks who have that bookmarked. Also any feeds you are using to get blog posts or podcast episodes will be unchanged. Basically, you shouldn’t have to change any of your habits to continue to get updates from us!
I think you’ll find that the set up here is the same as before but with some additional niceties!
For example, if you are a member of My Middle-earth, you can login with your account and use that to comment on our posts without requiring to fill out a form. While logged in you’ll see the My Middle-earth banner at the top of the page allowing you to see any messages from friends, work with your account or get to some of the other great sites here at MME.
Also it will be a relief for Merric and I not have to babysit our site for outages at all hours of the day. I know it’s super crazy but you may actually be able to see CSTM at all hours of the day. The internet is amazing. MME has a terrific staff of techy smart people who have been helping us migrate our big ol’ blog over and get us set up.
We are super pleased to have made this move and are very grateful to have made such amazing friends here at MME!
Also we accept pie as house-warming gifts. Just in case you wondered.

Only pie? I think pie-cake would be an excellent house-warming gift.

It’s very nice to be automatically logged in. Welcome to your new home! Hooray for all those super techy people!

Congratulations on a successful and smooth server move (I cannot live a day without CSTM but fortunately only had to miss you briefly, the outage time was tolerable). Now where’s the party? I’ll bring stylish pie.

Haha, Smooth?
Are we really that cool? =P

Great news guys! This will make it easier on you to publish new content I bet. Built in blog system and all.
February 10, 2012 at 1:53 pm
Good for you… as long as i am able to check your site at all the strange hours of the day its fine with me!
Teaming up with MME can only be a good thing and i welcome you in your new home!

This is great news, leaving those maintenance headaches behind and getting out to a whole new audience hopefully too.
Where do we deliver the pie?
February 10, 2012 at 2:21 pm
Congratz on the move. May the house of CSTM live long and prosper.

I think this is an awesome move! One main site for all the great Tolkien goodness. Pure win!

Excellent, congrats on the move! I enjoy CSTM, thanks for the great coverage!

But what if all I have is cookies?
Maybe if someone started a pie (or pie-cake) discussion, I’d celebrate CSTM’s new home with pie.

Can’t tell you how exciting this is. I’m with Hobbitmeister…all the Tolkien goodness in one place!

“For example, if you are a member of My Middle-earth, you can login with your account and use that to comment on our posts without requiring to fill out a form.”
Hmmm, how does one do this? I am logged in to Mymiddle-earth, and all I see is this form for leaving comments.

Hello Frandoc,
This function will work, but we’ve still a tweak to do on some of the mapping to the database. Should be working sometime this week.
February 13, 2012 at 12:40 pm
Congratulations. Seems like a perfect match.
Regrettably, I found the sign up process for My ME cumbersome. I don’t consider I should have to give up so much personal info just to comment on any blog. But I’m privacy minded and cranky that way. lol.
So I’ll just keep following you all here.
February 13, 2012 at 2:25 pm
I’m really not certain what you mean. The only thing required for an account on MME is: a username, email and password, name (you can put your character name – I did), and an about me (can put absolutely anything or literally type something like N/A). They are trying to catch spambots by requiring the About Me section so they don’t really care what you put in there. All other fields are optional and can be completely skipped. 5 fields and you have an account … ok it may be 6 as you probably have to type the password twice
It seems very typical for account access to me.
Not that you have to and you have no reason to just lurk. The option to fill out a name and email address is still valid to leave a comment if you choose to not have a MME account. Non-account commenting works the same as it always did. The login is an added feature to those already signed in and not wanting to retype things

I seem to recall a whole lot more info being required when I originally tried to register there, and then it dumped me, which made me extra cranky. lol.
I’ll go ck it out again-it may be that my memory is faulty. I was specifically very cross about the seeming requirement to attach my ME persona with my RL name. I have actually dealt with stalkers in the pass, so while I may be cranky and paranoid, there is an actual reason for it.
In any case this seems like a wonderful move for CSTM, so I’m sincere in my congratulations.
You guys do an awesome job, and hopefully this will make it easier to continue doing so.

Congratulations on the new home. I am sure it will more good and effective. All the best, Goldenstar

I’m still so excited that CSTM is on MyMiddle-earth now – and even more excited that the login/domain issues now seem fixed!
February 16, 2012 at 10:38 am
Yes it does! Yay!
