Just had to share this. As seen on The Mary Sue, there is a 12-minute The Hobbit cartoon directed by Gene Deitch, whom old folks like me will associate with Tom and Jerry cartoons.
The cartoon is cute and lovely to watch melding some old style cartoon nostalgia as well as Tolkien magic for me. I can definitely see the Tom and Jerry art style in the film and it makes me smile.
Although not 100% following the story (where’d the princess come from?) I found the cartoon short very cute and worth sharing.
There is more to the story as to why a 12 minute short of The Hobbit even exists. Read more about this story on The Mary Sue blog.

A friend posted this the other day, it is a fun take on the story. It’s very different as you say (the dragon battle is way different too lol), but still enjoyable.

It doesn’t 1% follow the story.
As far as the style goes, it gets a whopping great ‘meh’ from me.
Clever man to make cash from it though.

Anyone who has a problem with Peter Jackson’s take on Middle Earth shouldn’t watch this. They’ll have an aneurysm.

That was rather cute. It’s not going to thrill the lore types much but I bet young kids would love it.

This reminds me of the frostbuff theaters take on Bilbo’s leaving party. A legend that has been corrupted over time similar to the Troy and the wooden horse story.
