The release notes for today’s downtime have been posted and they are very short so here they are copy and pasted in their entirety.
- Addressed several unintended game play issues.
- The Mounted Rear Emote was using a “Roar” sound rather than a “Neighing”. Mounts should now be far less scary.
- Using Alt-Tab while running DX10/11 graphics mode should now behave as expected.
You can find the release notes on the LOTRO Lorebook here.

The use of the “roar” had me wondering already what the intention behind that was.
Looking forward to hear what it is supposed to sound like.

That’s the actual release notes, not a condensed version? I’m glad they could elaborate on what unintended gameplay issues were addressed…

They were likely fixing issues that had people had been using as exploits. They tend not to advertise those, even when fixing it so they can’t be exploited in the future.

Wow that’s short. Kinda sad I didn’t get to see any roaring horses.

It wasn’t the horse that roared, but your character. Just type /roar when you log in to hear how silly it sounded.

My mistake. It’s actually the sound from /challenge.

Woo, that alt-tab thing has been bugging me for a while. Glad it’s getting fixed.

I’m curious as to what it was doing? I’ve not had any major issues with alt-tab in DX11… Although I noticed sometimes while switching my frame rate will halve and stay that way. If I alt-tab a few more times it stops.

The advantage of this short release notes : It’s the FORST time i see a maintenance finished BEFORE the fixed hour ! … hehehe

Awwww Man. I won the rear up emote in the lottery and I loved riding up to kinmates and Roaring at them from a rearing horse. It was cool.

i can’t use DX11… it’s not an option?
November 17, 2011 at 3:07 pm
I’d assume that you just do not have a DirectX 11 capable video card… If you know for a fact you do, you may want to make sure your cards drivers and DirectX program files are up to date.

Use two screens so not had an issue alt-tabbing.
I would however, quite like to see a return of the fullscreen windowed option which was removed a while back.

I have my windowed mode options set to my max resolution… and it basically just fits the window to my whole screen (I can still see my taskbar, etc.). Does that not work for you?
