In episode 108, I talked about how my burglar travelled with some very exceptionally Dum people into Goblin Town. We hunted down some Trolls as they told me that Trolls drop housing items. We were not lucky enough to get a housing item to drop on our trip.
I head to the mailbox this morning and there was a fresh troll head, wrapped with a bow. A present from my friend Bryandt, who is excellent at capturing dead things (hey – everyone has a skill, right?).
Wonderful! I now have the perfect décor piece to turn my Hobbit Hole into a truly homey house. I had read in Mertha Stewit’s magazine that Troll Heads are the thing to accentuate your décor this fall!
First things first, I ran to Bree to have the head stuffed before it began to rot. Rotting Troll Heads are not so hot this season. The taxidermist did his work quickly and I was off to my Hobbit hole.
Now I wasn’t sure where exactly the best place to put a giant stuffed Troll Head but I settled on the bedroom. Of all the places in the house, it’s one of the top ones you want to feel comfortable and stylish.
I hung up my new trophy to see how it looks.
Er. Um. Very life like. Kind of angry.
But this is in all the well to do Hobbit houses and darn it mine won’t be the exception! Besides my green wall paper really puts a glow into his… teeth.
So for all you style conscious folk of Middle-earth I suggest you head out and get a Troll Head of your own. You may want to get two or three because they are definitely all the rage this autumn.
And I think it may even help you have sweet dreams!
Thank you Bryandt!

Oh, me. I didn’t expect you to write an article about it. Perhaps now is a bad time to mention that you have a Winter Tusk yard decoration waiting in your mailbox now? :S

Oh fun! Thanks!

Nice, I also got one some time ago while soloing some quest in goblin-town, guess I got lucky.
I hung up mine in the wall directly across the front door , so everyone can see it as soon as they enter the house.

What a perfectly ridiculous way to start the morning! Hooray for troll heads!
October 4, 2011 at 8:24 am
Well that’s nice! You know what, you should definitely look into Nornuan’ head, a smoking turtle head would compliment it nicely

We have a matching pair in the great hall of our kinhouse. We just had to have thhem. I think there might be a law somewhere saying its illegal for a Dwarf Kinhouse not to display a dead Troll head. Either way, they look pretty good, a nice backdrop to all the other “stuff we’ve killed” items and beer mugs.

Thanks for talking about this, I never knew those even dropped there! I’m going to help a kinmate go “Down Down To Goblin Town” and I’m going to make sure to hunt those trolls out….
They look pretty sweet on a wall!

A few months back, I was leveling my Guardian in Evendim, and one of the undamaged Warg corpses dropped. That renewed my interest in getting all the trophies, so I jumped on my main and started the slaughter. For the most part, the items dropped fairly easily; however, certain corpses can be turned in to both the Bree-land taxidermist & the Inn League taxidermist. Getting that second drop was a nightmare – especially the second brown bear (Fields of Fornost) & white wolf (Southern High Pass) corpses.
Yes, I even went down, down to Goblin Town in search of a Cave Troll Head. I circled around between three points where a single troll spawned, and managed to get the drop in about 30 minutes.
Of course, I can’t display every trophy, but at least I’ve got them.
I think the only trophies from the Shadows of Angmar regions are the dress from GA,Thorog’s skull, Thaurlach’s Sword, & Fearndir’s skull.

It certainly beats the tired old tortoise head found in so many households. You’d think people would tire of such a plebeian display of entry level raiding, but somehow it remains on that darned wall.

My leveling buddy keeps threatening to steal my Troll Head! I keep it locked down tight although it always hangs a bit crooked.
October 4, 2011 at 1:20 pm
And I’ll get it one day, too

Humpf!
October 4, 2011 at 10:13 am
Love it! Thanks Bryant for sending it, I’m going to go and get one NOW. Also, sorry Goldenstar, but I’m not still not sure if this beats the massive sabertooth in the middle of my living room.

Hahahaha fantastic! I have one and still didn’t hung cause I definitively need a LOT more hooks in my house! (Or another house
).
By the way, it is open to visit but I never get so many visitors… we could do a list of “visitable houses” in your page, it would be fun
October 4, 2011 at 12:11 pm
I have never actually bought a house. I always joke they my Captain is a hobo and I tend to dress him appropriately and all but I may have to have him move on up to a deluxe house in the shire.

That’s pretty sweet! I always thought that the troll head dropped in the Trollshaw caves, not Goblin-Town.
Speaking of undamaged drops, I got super lucky and got 2 undamaged frost antler heads while questing in Forochel without even trying! Can’t wait to hang them up in my house.
October 4, 2011 at 1:04 pm
Gratz! I have YET to have one of those drop!!!!
October 4, 2011 at 1:14 pm
Thanks! I was kind of surprised when I got the second one yesterday. I don’t know if the move I used actually had anything to do with my killing it either, but on the second one I got, I hit the moose with my champion’s horn stunning him for 8.5 seconds, and killed him before he “woke up”.
I don’t know if that had anything to do with the reason why I got it, it may have just been random chance. But the fact that it happened twice in one day and I wasn’t even trying makes me wonder if certain moves will increase your chances of a drop.

I love the troll head. Just getting up into that level range, so I’m sure my husband and I will be spending some time hunting them.
October 4, 2011 at 5:09 pm
I’ll see your dream catcher and raise you one troll head!
October 4, 2011 at 7:21 pm
Very nice, I am jealous.
October 5, 2011 at 8:45 am
I went down to Thundergrot (in G-town, obviously) while listening to the show, as soon as you mentioned it. After killing 100 trolls (might as well work on troll slayer in the zone!), I managed to snag 5 of the cave troll barter items. They make great stocking stuffers (assuming you have one big stocking)!
Thanks for mentioning the potential to find a trophy down in this area that I otherwise probably would have never explored much further than the first couple of rooms, farming goblins for rep items!
October 5, 2011 at 8:53 am
I had the misfortune of grinding deeds in Goblin town, spent hours in there till I was done. The upside was that I got 6 goblin heads, after gifting out one and using 2 in my houses I sold the rest for an exorbitant price on the market. made up for the annoyance of it all.
October 5, 2011 at 11:25 am
I definitely need one of these to go with my pride and joy, the drinking wolf mount
October 5, 2011 at 1:35 pm
I love that drinking wolf! Sometime I need to set aside some time for grinding a few of those undamaged wolf pelts.
