Draigoch's Opening Monologue

October 7, 2011

Videos

In this video we take a look at Draigoch’s opening monologue  and then a brief up-close look at the dragon itself.  Unfortunately I could not progress any further because it requires you to have half the raid stand in one spot to enter the tunnels that lead to the starting event.  We hope that you enjoy the video!

First time, I went in there alone. I heard that voice and the hairs on my neck stood up.

There was one time in there when he moved close and I jumped back. He’s pretty imposing.

That voice is awesome. I think the animations are incredible. The way he puts his paws on either side of the holes, just really, really cool! I am so going to wipe the raid because I’m just looking at him, admiring him lol.

I love the voice! After getting toasted the first time I went in, I figured out the thing with the lights, and managed to work my way down to where I could see him poking his head through. Then I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to get myself positioned for a screenshot with the dragon in the background. I’m not a raider, but hearing and seeing that really makes me want to try!

From what I’ve heard, it’s a pretty good “intro” raid. Being that there are no adds and that he’s already been killed in Hard Mode I think even those of us who are pretty casual have a good shot at doing this raid.

that voice, when it first started, I jumped
is the fire instant death? or is it like the Forsaken Inn’s spikes that do a chunk of damage?

Haha. That is SO totally Smaug. At least they made him sound like and speak very much like Smaug did in the animated Hobbit movie. It’s what immediately came to mind upon hearing the voice and monolog (particularly where the dragon senses your presence and then offers to share his treasure with you).

Looks awesome though! But I would have liked the dragon to actually sniff your presence and then turn and look right at you when you got so near to him. THAT would probably have made me fall out of my chair (especially if I was in game when that happened.)
