One thing this doesn’t seem to mention is Tier 2 of the Inn of the Forsaken. Anyone have any idea of this is finally supposed to come back or not?
September 26, 2011 at 9:17 am
your right it is
September 26, 2011 at 9:18 am
odd, sorry about that I don’t know what happened. anyway, It is quite long about 48 pages and going to be a good read for when I have nothing to do on my lunchbreak
September 26, 2011 at 9:19 am
“Lucky Horseshoe (a pre-order item) has been updated so that its effect will now last 3 minutes.”
Huh, What??
September 26, 2011 at 9:23 am
Oh, confused… not Elebrandir’s Horseshoe.
Never Mind
September 26, 2011 at 9:23 am
In the notes they said burglars will have a change in their burgle skill. It will be even better now! yay!
September 26, 2011 at 9:44 am
All Skerms now can be run at LVL 80!
September 26, 2011 at 9:47 am
Known Issues:
“/jazzhands and/read animations are causing other emote animations to work incorrectly.”
Are those new emotes?
Also, in Patch Notes: “Tad Leafcutter (outside the reputation lodge in Bree-town) will now accept leftover Anniversary Tokens. In return, he will grant you some Skirmish Marks.” So finally I can unclutter my barter wallet a bit!
September 26, 2011 at 9:48 am
Also, boo for this: “All videos currently play in English for those players using the French Client.” I hope they get that fixed quickly for all the Francophone players.
September 26, 2011 at 9:51 am
They are new emotes to me!
September 26, 2011 at 10:26 am
The /jazzhands and /read emotes must be new. I wonder if they’re available to everyone or unlocked by quests or deeds.
September 26, 2011 at 10:29 am
Don’t forget the store, either.
It might be like Enedwaith where they were faction locked. They are new emotes, but I don’t remember much about them.
September 26, 2011 at 9:51 am
And I do realize I’m spamming your post here now, but this is AWESOME! “The /stuck and /unstuck commands now transport characters to the closest rally point so they stay closer to the front lines! Additionally /stuck and /unstuck no longer share a cooldown with Milestone skills. ”
People who don’t bother to read patch notes miss little gems like “Some players were reporting that the sky was rapidly accelerating towards to the ground. We have investigated and are happy to report that the sky is, in fact, exactly where it should be.” Also: “The typo horde, the bane of all existence and the plague of our time, has been engaged. We continue to battle valiantly, but alas the foe is strong…the battle rages ever on.”
September 26, 2011 at 7:00 pm
Oh yay for /stuck!
It really wans’t very useful if you’d just ported somewhere and got stuck with the shared cooldown. That’s been stupid and pointless right from the start
And yeah… I love those little notes they stick in like that.
September 26, 2011 at 10:03 am
Ok, I told myself I was done, but then I found this line stuck in the middle of the minstrel release notes: “Codas can now be used on players and on monster players. Apparently, players and monster players did not like hearing the end of a musical movement. If left unchecked, this could create “The Song That Never Ends.” ”
I love whoever writes these.
Now I’m really done.
September 26, 2011 at 10:31 am
Hehe, spam all you want. We’re glad that you’re having a good time reading the notes!
September 26, 2011 at 10:25 am
Yeah, trading anniversary tokens for skirmish marks is great! I have a ton of those, and I don’t really like to run skirmishes, so I’m loving that.
September 26, 2011 at 11:14 am
O.o …. I JUST TRASHED MY SUMMER ONES
Sigh.. well in the future this will be nice
September 26, 2011 at 11:58 am
Oh wait, anniversary, not all festival. Nevermind.
September 26, 2011 at 7:01 pm
I’m so glad I’m not the only person that dislikes skirmishes!
September 26, 2011 at 9:55 am
Are the servers back up yet? just curious can’t seem to connect to through the launher..
September 26, 2011 at 9:56 am
Last update from LOTRO was that the patch servers are down currently.
September 26, 2011 at 9:58 am
Okay thank you!
September 26, 2011 at 10:26 am
Under “new primary stat contributions” is “removal of all secondary characteristics.” Does anybody have a clue what that means?
September 26, 2011 at 10:47 am
This is part of the Stats Updates.
For example, in the past increasing your Will would do it’s primary job of boosting your power pool but it also would increase your fear resistance stat as a secondary characteristic. That secondary characteristic is being removed. So if you need extra fear resistance, you need to boost your resistances stat.
September 26, 2011 at 11:18 am
So my agility will no longer buff my evade, and my might won’t buff my block?
September 26, 2011 at 11:37 am
I believe that is correct however being a minstrel I honestly didn’t look at those stats specifically
There is a stat for evading and a stat for blocking that you can choose to gear up for if those are stats you wish to have.
The caps on Block, Parry, Evade, and Incoming Healing, have been increased from 15% to 25%. Also, Offence ratings for all classes have been modified to use their primary stat * 10.
Listing of current (pre-isengard) stats: http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Character_Stats
September 26, 2011 at 11:50 am
I am a warden! (Ok actually I am 3 wardens). BPE is a big part of my life. I didn’t even look at this in the beta so now will have to do some serious review of my build(s).
Not to mention my mini Merriegold who just hit 64, and will also require Deep Thought!
September 26, 2011 at 11:19 am
I have to admit that I STILL don’t understand this system perfectly. I feel dumb about tha, but whatever lol
So all resistances just pull from a single pool now? So if I have 2000 resistance, I have 2000 against fear, 2000 against poison, etc?
In theory that sounds really nice.
September 27, 2011 at 10:47 am
No, the secondary characteristics are the Combat Characteristics section of the passive skills tab.
September 30, 2011 at 12:15 pm
What Robert said. I.e., the passive skills you buy for Crit Chance, Parry, etc., are all gone now, so that the ratings from stats and gear are the only contributing factor. So, actually, having a high Agility to increase your Parry/Evade (or having direct +BPE ratings on gear) is even more important for tanks now, for instance.
September 26, 2011 at 10:37 am
Anyone else find it a little disheartening that they don’t even know the names of the Burg trait lines?
September 26, 2011 at 11:27 am
Some very good random ones (that havent been in dev diaries)
The /stuck and /unstuck commands now transport characters to the closest rally point so they stay closer to the front lines! Additionally /stuck and /unstuck no longer share a cooldown with Milestone skills.
The typo horde, the bane of all existence and the plague of our time, has been engaged. We continue to battle valiantly, but alas the foe is strong…the battle rages ever on. <- LOL.
The caps on Primary characteristics — Might, Agility, Vitality, Will and Fate – have been completely removed. (knew this before, but still awesome)
Dual Wielding and Medium Armour are now available at level 1. (Hunter & Burglar)
Skill: Set Snare: This bleed will now stack from multiple Hunters.
Stance: Strength: Removed the threat and Power use penalties. (Hunter)
The Cloak of the Westfold (Isengard pre-order item) appearance has been adjusted to be whiter. <– everyone on forums was annoyed about this before
Reputation acceleration is now available! This acceleration works similar to rest XP (as you earn "bonus reputation" it is added to a pool which doubles any reputation you earn in the game until it is depleted). See your reputation panel for more details
Bad Things:
Challenge: Samborg: The challenge quest does not re-bestow after failure in a single instance run. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Trait: Strong Draw: Changed to increase the damage of "Penetrating Shot" and "Blood Arrow" by +10%.
That, my friends, is why you read all 38 pages.
Sorry, I'm a hunter, so i didnt feature any other class changes (even though some look awesome)
September 26, 2011 at 11:54 am
I liked these tidbits:
Soldiers: Archer: The Power Restore skill will no longer be used within the first 2 seconds of combat.
Icons for skills with target health requirements will now properly indicate when the skills are usable; i.e. icons will enable/disable correctly.
The Loremaster’s analyze enemy panel will no longer freak out when you resize your game window.
Mounts: Summoning your mount is now faster.
Players are now able to place any piece of armour into the wardrobe, even if they cannot wear it.
Anniversary Event: Tad Leafcutter (outside the reputation lodge in Bree-town) will now accept leftover Anniversary Tokens. In return, he will grant you some Skirmish Marks.
This I didn’t like:
The super-sized shield Frothskold is now normal sized for a light shield.
Hooray!
September 26, 2011 at 12:56 pm
The mount induction change is great. I noticed it right away in beta. It’s 2 seconds instead of 5.
September 26, 2011 at 7:05 pm
Yeah I didn’t like the Frothskold thing either. The size of it was why so many people loved it. That’s going to be very unpopular. It’s not like there isn’t a precedent for huge-sized light shields though – Calenglad’s Shield (quest reward) was massive.
September 26, 2011 at 12:16 pm
Love the last part from this one in the Champ section:
Skill: Improved Feral Strikes: Once again uses the correct animation. The animation issue was an artifact of a bygone stage of development where the skill was going to merge… are you actually still reading this?
September 26, 2011 at 12:24 pm
Couple more fun ones under Champ:
As champions can now only block with their faces, the deed for “At the Ready” has been altered to no longer require block; the skill will, instead, use Ebbing and Rising Ire to advance and will have a greatly reduced requirement.
Trait: Controlled Fury This trait should now add the “Red Haze” bonus effect to the “Controlled Burn” skill. Additionally, we fixed the duration of the “Controlled Burn” skill. It will now last for 45 seconds, as it was supposed to. Let the cry of “Orion sucks! He nerfed CB!” commence!
Trait: Swift to Anger: Now correctly alters “Red Haze” while in Ardour. There is even a handy icon visible to show you that the effect is there…and working…and stuff.
September 26, 2011 at 5:40 pm
Then it must have been Orion who was having fun writing patch notes. Two more good ones for the Minstrel:
There was a terribly strange tooltip that appeared in the Fear immunity portion of the “Fellowship Heart” effect buffs. This has been fixed.. and we blame Comet Elenin.
Fixed a tooltip issue with War-speech. Not telling you what was done. You can figure that out on your own.
September 26, 2011 at 12:25 pm
I hope they got rid of the harsh shadow far away that you could see when playing on DX 10 and 11. That was really bad :/
September 26, 2011 at 12:58 pm
I didn’t see it in the notes and last it seems to still be on their main list of known issues. I honestly just turned of DX 10 Distant Landscape Shadows in the options… it gets rid of that. Obviously it’d be nice if they fixed it, but at least it doesn’t look silly if you turned it off.
They have some work to do on DX 11 Ambient Occlusion too. I love the effect, but there’s a lot of landscape polygons (trees in Lothlorien especially) that wind up looking goofy with it.
September 26, 2011 at 1:07 pm
I note that there is no mention of upgrading the Barter Wallet to contain any of the dozen or so barter coins. They should just rename it the Skirmish Wallet.
September 26, 2011 at 1:27 pm
Hmm, I totally forgot about that. Yeah, that would have been a nice “surprise” update.
September 26, 2011 at 3:20 pm
I’m hoping for it. Between branches, leaves, silver signs, gold signs and whatever else… I’m wasting a whole bag just on this stuff.
If they’re changing them to bind to account instead of bind to character, I might understand. As it is now at least, I really don’t get it.
September 26, 2011 at 7:09 pm
Yeah they really do need to do something about that. As far as I see it, any token that’s BoA (be it a drop like the welcome-back-week ones, a festival token, or a quest/faction/rep reward like the Lorien and Mirkwood ones) should go in there.
October 3, 2011 at 6:08 pm
Totally agree!!! I am desiring that so much! Qith the problem of timing last festival, I got stuck not only with tons of fish but also with festival tokens on all of my characters
September 26, 2011 at 7:07 pm
Skirmish wallet? Oh come on – it doesn’t even hold all the skirmish tokens!
September 28, 2011 at 12:51 pm
Ha that’s true I’d forgotten that. Makes it even funnier that it didn’t get touched.
Here’s hoping they do something in the post-release patch that will contain the new RoI instanaces I guess. =\
September 26, 2011 at 2:25 pm
any know if they are still down? when servers come back up can someone let me know?
September 26, 2011 at 2:50 pm
They have reported the servers are back up.
September 26, 2011 at 4:10 pm
The Twitter is saying that they’re seeing a lot of demand, so many can’t connect in the launcher. They say they’re adding more patch servers to help.
Personally, I’ve not been able to connect. But considering it wasn’t even supposed to be out today, I can’t complain lol
September 26, 2011 at 5:46 pm
I’ve heard from kinmates that some have it patched and are in while others are waiting to connect, I started my client this morning and left it running in hopes that it would be done when I got home but I’ve also heard that that isn’t working for everyone and some will need to restart the client.
*crosses fingers*
September 26, 2011 at 6:15 pm
erm…how do i restart the client? I really have no idea when it comes to technical stuff.
September 26, 2011 at 11:18 pm
I would just leave it trying to connect. It should eventually make one.
September 26, 2011 at 10:05 pm
Hey, All I did was restart my computer, and it worked. Good luck everyone.
September 26, 2011 at 3:12 pm
I think my best laugh in the many pages was this:
“It is now safe to use Pipeweed while mounting/dismounting your horse. You will no longer be stuck in the smoking animation.”
I’ve never used pipeweed, but the image was hilarious.
September 26, 2011 at 6:10 pm
Okay so I am a PC moron. Are teh servers still down is that why I can connect and get an error? Also, I see someone says something about restarting the client…what does that mean and how do I do that?
September 27, 2011 at 12:10 am
I cant connect to LOTRO. It keeps saying connection failed and it loops through the 60 second timer over and over again. After the update I cant play. I am paying money for a game I cant play. Can someone help me?
September 27, 2011 at 3:17 am
are the servers back yet?
September 27, 2011 at 7:16 am
I was able to log on at about 8 PM Eastern time last night. I started the launcher, then went to dinner and when I got back about two hours later, it was ready to go.
One thing that came up in the middle of gameplay was the there was an issue with the LUA coding and people who were running plugins kept having the client crash. I never turned any of my plugins on, but one guy in my kinship who did would log on, turn his plugins on, then the game would crash and he would then have to wait 20 minutes to go through the login queue to come back on.
September 27, 2011 at 8:04 am
I had issues with Palantir (specifically using the potions portion of it), but Tonicbars and Sortpack seemed to work fine. This is a definite downside to plugins; they tend to break on updates.
This comes from the author of Palantir:
RoI has introduced a change to the API that will cause the client to crash-to-deskop upon clicking an inventory item that’s equipped in a curable slot. Until a solution can be found, please remove all inventory items from the curable slots to avoid this issue. Besides that, there should be no further issues with Palantir in RoI – including using skills in curable slots.
An update will be released as soon as the cause and solution can be determined.
September 27, 2011 at 10:01 am
So finally got into game last night about 11 pm EDT, and would like to note one thing not mentioned in the patch notes: Half-Orcs *all* had a graphical make-over, even as far as the Lone-lands. One I very much approve of.
September 27, 2011 at 7:23 pm
Fake patch note#678
Minstrels have gone through a huge overhaul. Recommending avoid grouping with them for 5-7 days :0
October 3, 2011 at 6:13 pm
I haven’t seen anything on the known issues list about the game crashes, which my husband and I started experiencing when crafting and that made me search in the forums. Aparently there are many problems with this, especially in specific places of the new areas, and some of these were already reported on the beta.
Anyone knows something about this? Anyone else experiencing game crash while crafting?
