Here at Dannenglor, the enemy holds and interrogates those they have captured in battle. The prisoners must be rescued swiftly…!
You are now in Mirkwood helping the elves to rescue a prisoner from Gol Guldur. While the elves decide on how to proceed after a setback in the swamp, you are asked to rescue some prisoners that are being kept in Dannenglor.
Strike against Dannenglor is the thirteenth skirmish we will examine in Pineleaf’s Pictorial Primer to Skirmishing. Here we will discuss the scenario, the enemy, and the encounters you will face as you prepare to battle in the first of the Mirkwood epic skirmishes.

Enjoyed this very much, as always. I appreciate the insights you offer, and this served as a good reminder that I really need to change the damage type on my Captain’s LI now that he’s in Mirkwood.
Thanks!

Ah the bad old days, when Ruingalad reflected 50% damage. Don’t you miss them?
Read these guides, everybody, even if you think you know a skirmish really well. You’ll miss out on Pineleaf’s droll commentary if you don’t.

I just love Pineleaf Needles! These guides fill a humongous gap for Turbine…he should be on the payroll.
I just want to make sure he knows that some of us are very grateful for the work and effort. I’ll never forget searching and asking on the forums for exactly this sort of thing only for them to appear like a beacon of light. Seriously, I can’t overstate my happiness with these things!
Might I next suggest the Rescue in Nurz Gashu, Protector of Thangulhad, or the Dol Guldur group (actually, one of my favorites groups to do, especially since the Assault on the RW Lair is one of the few I still can’t finish the encounter deed for…dang you Gulheryn!). Breaching the NM Gate, Assault on the RW Lair and Battle in the Tower seem to be more fun to me than the early ones.

Nice guide, Pineleaf. I remember taking part in a raid of this skirmish, and the final boss was pretty nuts. If I remember it correctly, one of the limrafn types would sacrifice heal him (maybe fire) if they got close, while one of the light limrafn would periodically get an eyeball over his head. If anyone was near that guy when the eyeball timer ran up will basically be killed (not sure if it’s an auto-death, or just a ton of damage). I could be wrong about a point or two in this, but a rough guess.
It became important to separate the boss across the room from his adds as best as possible. Now if Ruingalad had spawned during that raid…that would have turned up the heat.
