Links to Pass the Downtime

September 26, 2011

General

Today is the day the servers are all prepped for the big launch of Rise of Isengard for us to enjoy.

From the LOTRO Launcher:

In preparation for the release of our newest expansion, Rise of Isengard™, we’ll be taking the game servers down early in the morning on Monday, September 26. We currently anticipate that the servers will be up and available to players later the same day!

We should be able to start patching later today but what to do in the meantime? I have found some assorted links for you to read and enjoy to help you pass at least some of the time and still keep you psyched for the release!

Love the collection of links. Thank you for putting them together GS!
One quick note, it seems that the Pineleaf peruses Isengard link is actually taking clickers to Pineleaf plays the Warden article. No biggie, just thought you might like to know. :)

    Thanks again.

I’m still at work, so let us know how long the updates take to download, please!

Currently, the game data is 25% downloaded for me, but I don’t want to assume that once it’s updated that we’ll instantly be able to get into the game. It is being processed however, so you can at least start the update for it!

Between that last post and now, I have updated 5% of the game! It’s all downloaded and now updating, so hopefully that gives you an idea of how long that might take.

I’ve been stuck trying to connect for quite a while now:

    X Connect Retry(00:57)

This is normal. I wish I was one of the lucky ones that already managed to get in, but I suspect that hours from now most of us still won’t be in the game. So now I try and stick to a little tradition I’ve developed over the years on ‘launch day’ of any game and expansion:

Spring Cleaning (now with less Spring)! It might be three minutes, it might be seventeen hours. I do my very best to let the launcher do its business and not stare at it (sometimes I succeed) and instead start poking around this room that I regularly ignore in favour of the screen before me. I’ve already vacuumed and filled one bag with stuff to donate!

Okay, almost filled…. I faltered and took the James Herriot books back out. Still not dwelling on the launcher progress though!

    X Connect Retry(00:43)

Grrr… fine. Time to rummage through my ‘junk’ drawer. And my other ‘junk’ drawer. Le sigh.

Got into the game and was met with a splash screen telling me to preorder RoI, I chuckled.

Download for me took about an hour but I was on another mmo at the time.

    Love the new minstrel

The monster play screen has been made to look similar to the Free Peoples screen

currently the LOTRO store is down and the launcher takes a while to connect to the server, but after that there isn’t any new lag

The creeps are winning in the Ettenmoors without any lvl 75

sorry if my post doesn’t make sense
