A powerful sorcerer from Angmar seeks to drive the frozen winds of Forochel south into Evendim, freezing the lake and allowing a great army to march on Tinnudir….
The sorcerers of Angmar is preparing yet another evil scheme. This time, they wish to freeze Lake Evendim. Perhaps we find it a little annoying to swim across the lake but the lake is the only thing that keeps the forces of Angmar from overwhelming the island. We must stop them.
The Icy Crevasse is the twelfth skirmish we will examine in Pineleaf’s Pictorial Primer to Skirmishing. Here we will discuss the scenario, the enemy, and the encounters you will face as you prepare to battle in the toughest skirmish currently available.

I’ve pretty much decided that I’ll never run this skirmish again unless someone in my kin REALLY wants to.
Thanks for the Primer, though, Pineleaf! It was a very interesting read, as always.

Like attack at dawn I consider this skirmish impossible to do solo depending on your class. You really do need a tank to hold the one billion mobs.

I had a couple of problems with this skirmish. I run all my skirmishes solo.
On my first try, I got the drake optional encounter and failed it the first round. I tried a couple of times and just couldn’t kill it, and then every time I tried to go back through, the drake was on the ground and aggroed me no matter where I tried to run past. I just quit that attempt entirely.
After that, I’ve had awful luck getting the last boss down. I just can’t seem to both do enough damage and keep myself alive enough to succeed in this fight. Any extra boss tips or strategies? Is it just a matter of managing the Chill of Death/Bane of the Frozen debuffs better?

It’s really worth mentioning that the sabercats do area damage swipes. For a Captain, this can be quite a concern if you have a Herald and Soldier in melee range as well as yourself, and all three of you are taking damage.
Since I tend to be in melee range (with a pet also in melee range) on whatever character I play, sabercats must die first! Even before the swarms of Grim.

I died twice, but solo’d Icy Crevasse with with my RK (level 65, yellow-line traited) and an herbalist soldier. I think I got lucky with the encounters and lieutenants that spawned, but I finished it on my first attempt.

I can’t complete this. Although I like it in some sadistic fashion. Oh but best of all, I like the legendary page drops!

This one is indeed a challenge. I have completed it on my Warden, have yet to try it on my Captain.

Are you Premium or are you VIP? If you are premium, then which quest packs do you own? If you have access to Angmar, I suggest you quest there. That should get you a few levels.

My personal experience has been if I enjoy the class, I get through the 40s reasonable quickly and if I don’t enjoy the class, it takes forever. It doesn’t help that if I’m going to have trouble skirmishing with a given class, that trouble will arise in the 40s.
