Weatherstock is an absolutely epic music concert held each year on the Landroval server hosted by The Lonely Mountain Band kinship.
If you are new to LOTRO or haven’t had the privilege to attend Weatherstock in previous years, mark this on your calendar! This is not an event to miss!
There are nine talented bands from around the LOTRO universe, including bands from Crickhollow, Landroval, and even the EU’s Laurelin.
Each will play a set and work up to a crescendo with the BATTLE OF THE BANDS! During the battle, all bands will play simultaneously and concert-goers will vote with their feet by standing with their favorite. The band with the most supporters wins the prize of nearly 100G!
Along the way, the Light in the Dark prize will be awarded to the band that gets the most Hope Tokens raised (conveniently supplied by event vendors–look for the hobbits in the tophats!) Oh, and don’t eat the brown lembas…

Individual Concerts
Each of the nine performing bands will have a 3 song/12 minute time slot to perform. In addition, each band may return to the stage for an encore if the audience reaction is favorable enough.
Bring your hope tokens! If you are particularly enjoying the performing band, toss up a hope token to cast your vote for the “Light in the Darkness” contest (details below).
No worries if you forget to pick up hope tokens as Lonely Mountain Band will have vendors on hand offering these as well as pipeweed and ale on a (in-game currency) donation basis.

Battle of the Bands
We will be pitting 9 of the best bands in all Middle Earth against one another! There will be 3 prizes awarded:
Light in the Darkness
This prize will be presented to the band who inspires the most participants to raise “hope” tokens immediately after their performance. Hope tokens are available from our vendors in the gold outfits.
Lonely Mountain Cup
The Lonely Mountain Cup will be awarded to the band judged winner by the Lonely Mountain Band.
Free People’s Choice
This is the most coveted prize, as the free peoples of Eriador will elect a winner at the end of the concert. All bands will return for a final number, while the free peoples show their preferences by standing with the band they prefer.

Freakout Zone
The Freakout Zone will be a quiet place for players to calm down after the craziness of our concert. The location of the Freakout Zone is in the small encampment near the waterfall at the sourthern flank of Weathertop. Casual bands and soloists are encouraged to come and play soothing music to our frazzled guests.
Weatherstock 2011 Live Coverage
Fear your computer will not be able to handle the mass hysteria that is Weatherstock? Well you can retreat to the safety of a freakout zone and tune into CSTM as we broadcast Weatherstock live!
Details of where to tune in will follow but we plan to cover the entire event and there also be several broadcasts of live video for the event as well!

The only question is how are they going to get around the dynamic layers with all of the people that will show up even if you assume the same number as last year show up?
PS. I did not attend last year so I don’t know how many people actually showed up but according to pictures and CSTM it was a lot.

We will definitely have people helping get everyone invited to the same layer!
Our FOZ staff (Freak out Zone) should be able to put you in contact with a Layer inviter that day!

Joining and then leaving a raid in the layer should do the trick i think.

There is a maximum of players by level. At the farewell event on Belegaer even this did not work after reaching a certain number of players. I have no clue how big that number is, though.
June 4, 2011 at 12:55 pm
The maximum number of people per layer was really the point I was trying to get at.

Suggestion for Weatherstock attendees:
Before you enter the area set your game to LOW graphics. You will be glad you did even if you have a beast of a computer it will help. If you intend to take a screenshot, simply return your game to the setting you want.
Not only will it help with visuals it will help your sound. LOTRO music system is not like live music and will clip or get muddy if your computer is having a hard time processing.

Seriously considering attending this year. Big PC upgrade tonight, so I may be able to handle the scene now
Time to get rolling on Landroval, I guess. As soon as LotRO finishes downloading in… 10 hours, 24 minutes.

The Lonely Mountain Band’s own music group, Old Winyards, will also be performing, in between the main acts. And helping with special effects ^_^

Oooh, I can’t WAIT for this!!!!
June 4, 2011 at 12:24 pm
Last year this event was picked up by the BBC network! Our leadership works with the GMs in the game to alleviate layering problems. And last year there was a Weatherstock lotto too!
June 5, 2011 at 10:08 am
I rolled some toons on Landroval recently but haven’t seriously played them yet. I need to level one up for this. Thoughts on which class needs additional representation?
June 6, 2011 at 10:41 am
Don’t need to worry too much about leveling as long as you’re out of the intro. Security team will be handling the local fauna and handling transportation for those in need.

Just a note–the Freakout Zone is moved to Candaith’s encampment, -not- the fellowship camp near the waterfall.

This looks like such fun! I will have to create a character so I can join in.
What time-zone are those schedule times on?
Do the GMs join in with this at all, and am I likely to be attacked by one of the resident crows if I’m not high enough level?
June 16, 2011 at 7:26 am
Timezone is Eastern (U.S)
Lonely Mountain Band has arranged for security to kill baddies in the area for the safety of lower levels.
June 16, 2011 at 4:46 pm
Awww, nice.
Thanks about the times. That runs to about twenty to one am UK time (0). I don’t know if you’d want to add that in to the times or not – we’re five hours ahead of you.
The bands you’ve got listed as being from other servers – is there some sort of cloning thta goes on with chars, or do they all roll new ones just for playing here?
June 16, 2011 at 4:55 pm
They’re all just rolling new toons on Landroval and LMB is helping them learn the instrument skills they need. LOTRO Stylist has offered to help with costuming as well, I believe. It’s all very organized!
June 16, 2011 at 9:45 pm
It certainly sounds like it! I rolled chars tonight to go join in. I’m looking forward to it. Never seen anything this huge before

Hi, I’d like to visit, too!
I’m a German player and now that all servers are managed by Turbine we European players have access to the US Servers, too which is awesome. So I can’t wait for the big happening to come, yay!
If there are more Players from Germany here’s a little hint: US servers are in a different timezone as European servers. Landroval is currently 6 hours BEHIND German time. This makes the start of the show to 22:00 hours (4 PM + 6h = 10 PM)
(I’ve checked this with the /serverzeit or I guess /servertime command)
This will be a looong night, he he.
