There is even more news filtering out from E3. This article comes from Kalamari Kastle and brings to light some interesting points that we hadn’t known about before. A big thanks to Crell for bringing this article to our attention.
The Highlights
- The Gap of Rohan, will be featuring iconic locations from the book including the Fords of the Isen where Théodred defended the northern planes of Rohan against Saruman’s Uruks and Dunland allies.
- “…you will also be able to meet famous characters including Theodred and Grimbold…”
- Players will be able to adventure directly into Orthanc and battle hosts of monsters with the help of the legendary character Quickbeam. (Hooray for Ents! And I guess this means that Goldenstar wins that debate! – Merric)
- Players will be getting access to 5 more skills (Take this as being “in flux”; everything can change, but it’s nice to have a specific number.)
Of course what excited me the most was the description of Dunland:
Dunland will be one of the most trafficked regions where players will be able to interact with craftsmen and create new tier 7 items as well as have access to numerous shops and other important vendors. In addition to being a pivotal location in LOTRO’s epic story Dunland is also by far the most elaborate region of the game being host to every environment imaginable including snow covered mountains, large dense forests, flat and barren desserts, rolling hills, large grassy plains, dark marshes and incredibly large encampments. One of the most breathtaking moments was when our character was on top of a mountain looking down upon a massive Dunland encampment full of life and vibrancy.
I don’t know about you, but I can completely see myself there already. I want to thank Kalamari Kastle for posting this information!

The question is, will crepes be FtP, aka frosted, thoroughly powdered?

Reading about Dunland has me worried about the stability of things. Enedwaith is quite a big resource hog for nearly everyone and another central town a la 21st Hall sounds like a nightmare for loading times.
I’m glad we’re getting back to recognizable characters (hands up from anyone who could tell the members of they Grey Company apart!). I just hope Turbine gets punched in the face by the Tolkien Estate if they’re going to make the writing as terrible as the latest book with the unintentionally hilarious Session Plays. You’d think drawing on one of the greatest works in fantasy writing would lead to great story telling, but it seems the opposite is the case.

Minor point Alds, but lotro has nothing to do with the Tolkien Estate and everything to do with Tolkien Enterprises. If it was up to the Estate, neither movies nor video games would be made.
I personally enjoyed the last book, writing and all, but hey, each to their own. I would agree that there are very high expectations for RoI in general. Unfortunately, I’ve heard nothing of substance about it except the disappointing info that a new PvMP map is probably not in the works for it. And the 24 persona raid doesn’t count because that was technically scheduled for the latest update.
