Weekly Store Sales Starting May 27, 2011

May 26, 2011

LOTRO Store

legendary_header

The following are the sales for May 27th – June 2nd, 2011. All items listed are 20% off. The original promotional page didn’t include the sale price like they usually do so I did my best to figure it myself and it should be fairly close but may not be perfect.

Mines of Moria Quest Pack

coin[1]1495
1196

I’m guessing that they meant the quest pack as there is no mention in the description of the premium classes. Quest packs are great things to get on sale. If you are yet to own the premium classes warden and runekeeper, it will be cheaper in the long run to buy the expansion to get those classes plus two character slots.

By all means check to see if the expansion pack is on sale as well and leave us a post if both are available for 20% off!

Legendary Item Slot Unlock

coin[1]295
236

Unlock up to 2 additional Legendary Item Slots via the LOTRO Store. They are purchased from the store only and gives you the option to level up 2 more LIs. It seems like nothing but a good idea to me to buy these extra slots while they’re on sale.

Legendary Item Tome XP

coin[1]90
72

Gain a 25% bonus to item experience earned from killing monsters. This effect will last for 60 minutes. 5 uses. Level 51+

I can see the appeal of these as it decreases the grind and that’s always a good thing. I don’t know if I would personally use them as I am not huge on grinding but I can see others finding this a good buy especially at 20% off.

Legendary Item Services

coin[1]40
32

Save time by accessing Legendary Item actions from your inventory for 1 hour. Services included: Identify Legendary Items, Reforge Legendary Items, Relic Forging, and Deconstruct Legendary Items. This item will immediately begin to decay and can expire out of game. Level 50+

I’ve heard of others using this while leveling up legendary items in big grinding sessions so save them from having to go back to town to reforge. It’s pretty cheap at 32 points but it depends on your playstyle. If you’re like me and don’t really worry about grinding legendary items it’d probably just end up eating up an inventory spot while you wait for the perfect time to use it.

Featured Items

The promo page then lists Legacy Tier Upgrade and Relic Packs as “featured items” but it’s unclear if they are listed just as “hey these exist too” or if they are included in the 20% off sale. I’m going to assume that they are but check to make sure before purchasing!

I honestly have no idea if either of these are good or not. I’ve never purchased myself. Anyone tried and have any opinion on these items?

Legacy Tier Upgrade

coin[1]295
236

Upgrade the Tier of any Legacy on a Legendary Item with this scroll. 1 use. Level 50+.

Relic Packs

coin[1]50-1550
40-1240

Relic Packs are available in the store as single use or stack of five with 4 tiers available so that may explain the large difference in the pricing. Delivers a Relic, which can be desconstructed by a Relic-master for a random assortment of Tier 1-4 (depending on which tier you purchase) Relics. Level 50+.

Legacy Tier Upgrade=The store’s version of a scroll of empowerment.

Bleh. Is there a reason they can’t be named the same? I mean to avoid confusion of simple people like me at the very least!

For VIPs, this is by far the most useful of the current sales items. Scrolls of Empowerment rare and expensive in game and also quite expensive in the store (since you typically need quite a few of them). This seems like a good time to buy a few.

It looks like the cost for “featured items” is not discounted by 20%. I see the cost in the LOTRO store for this “Legacy Tier Upgrade” item at 295 TP.

On another note, I actually purchased one of these at 395 TP on April 19, 2011. Does anyone know when the store changed the base price to 295 TP and whether this is a permanent change?

Consider hitting up your server’s ah section under ‘premium item’ usually we’ve got some LI accelerators in there for 2-5g. :)

Expansion pack is not on sale, just the quest pack (as of 3minutes into the sale cycle)

Way too long since a real quest pack (Moria doesn’t count since it should have been left as an expansion pack until the bean counters figured out all sorts of new ways to make a buck) has been on sale.

Has anyone purchased the legendary slot unlocks? They’re listed as character only in the store but it seems pretty expensive for something that’s not account wide.
