Cartographile – Eriador Deed

April 25, 2011

Festival Guides

Now that I actually own a map and see the deed concerning the Cartographile for myself I did a little searching to see if I could solve the case of the missing 13 maps.

Eight Maps we know to belong to the Anniversary Festival

I was actually able to find the maps listed in the lore-book and the description accurately listed them as being earned during the Anniversary Event.

Armed with this knowledge I went to see if the missing maps were listed in the lore-book as well. As luck would have it they were and they list which festival they can be earned. So I went down the deed list finding where all the maps can be earned!

Summer Festival

Fall Festival

Winter Festival

Spring Festival

CartographileDeedCollecting all 21 of these maps will result in completing the deed, earning the title “Eriador Cartographile” and obtaining the large wall decoration Map of Eriador and 10 Turbine Points.

These maps are tradable so you do not need to earn each map on your own. Share the task with a friend or your kinship and pass the maps around. Simply having it in your inventory will check off the deed and you can hand the item back to the owner.

Thanks for doing the research, GS!! :) As much of a grind as it is for this festival, I’m still hoping to collect all the maps…I just acquired my first one today – the Angmar map. The horsie is paramount, though! ;)

I’ld also place a bet they’ll be appearing in the Store next month sometime also :P

Am still trying to decide though which map will look the best. Evendim and Forochel tend to jump to mind so far for prettiness sakes.

I’ve gotten 3 maps so far…. Breeland, the Shire and Ered Luin. I’ll grab one more map on my main, finishing his clubber deed in the progress, then start on two alts that won anniversary token lottos. This may take awhile but it is definitely doable. Especially if you end up buying a map or two off the auction house.

lol, “buy a map or two” on AH is easier said than done. At the moment they go for 40g each on Eldar (EU).
      :-D

That is a crazy price. I absolutely agree with you that at that price, getting them at the AH should be off the table. I saw them going for under ten gold here on Imladris, which is why I put in the suggestion. The difference must be inflation on the Euro servers from having no lotto’s infusing tokens. I’m sorry Glompf for your pain.

That is something I’m unable to answer. I do not know what Turbine plans with the maps in the future but I would wager a guess they will be available next year as well. Also know they are tradable so you can make a map buddy and trade them if you’re just looking for the deed. They’re also available on the AH but I’ve heard they’re expensive.

They’ve suddenly increased the tokens through the lottery.. I’m swimming in tokens now through wins..

I think I figured out the map release schedule.

I noticed that all the maps in this first batch were the zones included at ship in Shadows of Angmar. I expect that on the anniversaries of the other zones, their maps will become available somehow.

This means – in theory – we could expect the Evendim map to be released in June, Forochel in April of 2012, Eregion in July 2012, the Moria set in October 2012, and so on.

So, just to be clear, as of now you can get:
    17/21 for the eriador deed
    0/? for the moria one
    0/? for the rohavanion/lothlorien one
0/? for the middle earth map

I’m just a bit pedantic about deeds :)

    Thanks

as of anniversary 2012, you can get (or have gotten):

17/21 for Eriador deed (lacking Old Forest, Archet, Breetown, Annuminas)
      11/11 for Moria deed

you can also get (or have gotten) maps of Lothlorien and Caras Galadhon (from summerfest 2011?) and Mirkwood (fall 2011) but no Rhovanion Cartographile deed opens.

i theorize that opening the Rhovanion deed may require the Eriador and/or Moria deed to be completed first. i have no actual evidence for that, just a hunch. it’s entirely possible turbine hasn’t seen fit to actually include it in the live game yet, for whatever reason.

I am glad to see that the Spring Festival will have the final set of maps that I need for the deed. I was hoping they would appear in this Anniversary event. Thanks for digging up the info.

This spring fest will give us our Eriador maps and complete our deed, finally. Waited a long time for it. Moria map deed was pretty easy to complete tho..

My guess is that The Rhovanion map deed will be the next step. New Festival coming on July,Farmer’s Faire. Will probably give more Rhovanion maps and they might as well unlock the deed in game >.<
