Spring Festival is running this year from March 22 – April 11, 2011 . This guide is here to help you find all the events available. The currency of this festival is the Spring Leaf. Collecting these can help you buy the goodies listed in the rewards section below.
The quests are mostly broken up into five major regions in Middle Earth. These are where you will find the festival vendors as well as other festival activities.
- Bree Festival Grounds (24.7S, 51.6W Breeland)
- Thorin’s Hall (13.48S, 103.2W Thorin’s Gate) – in the underground Tavern
- Duillond (24.6S, 93.1W Ered Luin)
- Shire Party Tree (29.85S, 71.48W Shire)
What is not included in this guide
The festivals of Middle Earth include certain quests that appear with each and every festival. Please see our guide on these General Festival Quests for help with those events. This would include the
- Dance Quests
- Horse Race
- Inn League quests
- Ale Association quests
What is different from last year?
The festival has had some minor work done to it this year. The flower collecting quests in Bree have been removed. Some new quests have appeared in the Hedge Maze as well as the Shrew Stomping grounds.
Deeds
- Spring Sprung!
Complete the 5 repeatable quests at the Bree-land Hedge Maze (doesn’t include the 2 new quests)
Title: Amazling - Spring is Dandy
This is a check list of 9 quests you must complete. It is all the shrew stomping (minus this years new quests), the 2 horse races, 3 from the hedge maze and Bullroarer’s Advanced Challenge in the Shire.
Title: Spring Dandy - Shrewed Gardener
Defeat 160 shrews in the stomp a shrew event
Title: The Shrewed - Taming of the Shrews
Defeat 400 shrews at the stomp a shrew event. This is opened after completing “Shrewed Gardener”
Title: Tamer of the Shrews
Fortune Cookies
These deeds are completed by collecting fortunes from the Extra Deliciously Tasty Biscuit consumables bought at the festival vendors. The fortunes are tradable so you do not need to collect all of them yourself to complete the deed. There are a total of 50 fortunes to be found.
- Festival Fortunes: Oddly Familiar (Fortunes 1-10)
Title: Same Old Song - Festival Fortunes: A Storyteller’s Snippets (Fortunes 11-20)
Title: The Peculiar - Festival Fortunes: Fateful Foretellings (Fortunes 21-30)
Title: Writing on the Wall - Festival Fortunes: Excellent Advice (Fortunes 31-40)
Title: The Enlightened - Festival Fortunes: An Adventurer’s Song (Fortunes 41-50)
Title: The Poetical
Quests
Bree-land Hedge Maze
The hedge maze is east of the Bree Festival Grounds just past the horse race track.
Great map of the Festival Hedge Maze is available over at The Brasse. It should be a big help in completing the quests although it does not have the new 2011 quests added. Don’t worry, the new quests are simple enough to not have to find a specific spot on the map. Just seeing the layout will help.
New this year in the maze is the allowance of using speed buffs! For those not a hunter and lucky enough to own one, I suggest dusting off your Harbringer’s Cloak from Mirkwood Adventurer’s Pack. I’m sure there must also be some sort of speed boost item available in the LOTRO Store as well. The quests do not require a speed boost to finish them so don’t feel like you need one. I was able to do them all on my regular speed minstrel.
- Misplaced Companions
Quest Giver: Saelthalel (24.75S, 50.87W)
Quest Level: 1+
Rewards: 1 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Daily
Six of Saelthalel’s friends are lost in the hedgemaze and she wants you to find them! - A Laugh at the Lost
Quest Giver: Gísi
Quest Level: 1+
Rewards: 1 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Daily
This trickster dwarf wants you to hang up fake directions signs to keep the people in the maze lost a bit longer. - The Chicken Dash
Quest Giver: Buttercup North-took (24.78S, 50.88W)
Quest Level: 1+
Rewards: 1 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Daily
There are loose chickens inside the maze that Buttercup wants you to catch before they escape. This quest is only available approximately every 45 minutes. A broadcast about chickens being loose is sent to the entire Bree-land area. That is the signal that this quest is available. - The Cloven Track
Quest Giver: Gil Plover (24.79S, 50.85W)
Quest Level: 1+
Rewards: 1 Spring Leaf
Repeat: No
You are challenged to make it through the maze in under 15 minutes. - A Speedy Errand
Quest Giver: Gil Plover (24.79S, 50.85W)
Quest Level: 1+
Rewards: 1 Spring Leaf
Repeat: No
Same objective as above to get through the maze in under 10 minutes. - A Fool’s Errand
Quest Giver: Gil Plover (24.79S, 50.85W)
Quest Level: 1+
Rewards: 1 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Daily
Same objective as above to get through the maze in under 3 minutes. This one becomes your repeatable daily quest. - The Green Challenge
Quest Giver: Tob Sandyman (24.80S, 50.86W)
Quest Level: 1+
Rewards: +700 with the Inn League
Selectable Rewards: Spring Leaf (x2), Inn League Sinister Keg
Repeat: Daily
This quest giver will only speak with you if you are a member of the Inn League! This one can get tricky because after finding the artifact requested you are slowed and are given 3 minutes to find the exit before ported away (as the Sinister Keg is known to do).
This still puts a speed debuff on as part of it’s quest and will remove any speed increase you add such as hunter speed buffs. I did test this with my Harbringer’s Clock and after turning it in the Harbringer’s Cloak buff did return so it didn’t waste a use of the cloak. - Terrible Tweens *NEW*
Quest Giver: Emma Greenbush (24.8S, 50.8W)
Quest Level: 10+
Rewards: 2 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Daily
Tweens are younger hobbits (normal hobbit size NPCs) running about shouting and generally disrupting normal maze activities. They tend to spawn in a dead end of the maze and run to another dead end where they de-spawn. Rings will appear on the mini-map for their location. There are many of them and you only need to catch 4. There is no timer. Just grab one as you find it. - Disorientation *NEW*
Quest Giver: Birdie Thornthicket (24.8S, 50.8W)
Quest Level: 10+
Rewards: 2 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Daily
You have 10 minutes to find and drink 6 dire brews that are scattered across the maze. These are simple mugs of beer that spawn at random points in the maze. Almost like an easter egg hunt. There’s a twist though. Dire brews are strong and will cause you to pass out and wake up in a random portion of the maze.
Duillond Stomp-A-Shrew
In the mail you will receive “An Invitation to the Spring Garden” which sends you to Duillond for the Shrew Stomping. Reward is 1 Spring Leaf.
Entrance to the shrew stomping ground is behind the gazebo where the dance lessons happen inside a cave (24.7S, 93.2W).
Inside you’ll find an arena type area where probably there are a bunch of people running around frantically if a game is going on.
There are several levels of the shrew game you can play, each one just a bit more difficult than the last. You can chose one pesky shrew type (leisurely, practiced or challenge) and the enormous shrew quest before the round begins. Each round last 3 minutes with 5 minutes between games.
Added this year was some new collection/travel quests as well.
- Stomp-a-shrew for the Leisurely Gardner
Quest Giver: Maengamiel (Leisurely Gardner)
Quest Level: 10+
Reward: 1 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Can participate in each game session.
Drive away pesky shrews (10). There is no need to kill all 10 of the shrews in one round. You can take it easy and stomp a few here and there and finish in however many turns it takes.
- Stomp-a-shrew for the Practiced Gardner
Quest Giver: Brangloth (Practiced Gardner)
Quest Level: 10+
Reward: 2 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Can participate in each game session.
Drive away pesky shrews (10). Must complete this task within one round.
- The Stomp-a-Shrew Challenge
Quest Giver: Logethuil (Elite Gardner)
Quest Level: 10+
Reward: 5 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Can participate in each game session.
Drive away pesky shrews (10), Plant seedlings in the soil (5) Must complete these tasks within one round.
- Stomp-a-shrew — An enormous shrew
Quest Giver: Dinedhrin (Infuriated Gardner)
Quest Level:10+
Reward: 5 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Can participate in each game session.
Use the Enormous Boots to stop the Enormous Shrew (Only one of these spawn per round, so only one player can accomplish this per round.) Will not fail this quest if not done in one round. Can keep it in your log until you actually find and kill that big bugger of a shrew.
After accepting your quest, you need to go pick up your Boots of Quite-Imaginable Power from nearby crates. You must pick up the boots each time. You do not have to put them on your feet but you will need to put them in your action bar so you can use them.
When the game starts you must target and stomp nearby shrews for credit . For the challenge you will also need to plant the seedlings while stomping shrews to oblivion.
More shrews have been added to the games this year so it should be easier for everyone to get quests done.
A Shortage of Boots *NEW*
Quest Giver: Santmereth (Worried Gardener)
Quest Level: 10+
Reward: 2 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Daily
First run of this quest you’ll need to visit Deluraw in Duillon (near the ovens) to get 3 sub-quests to collect flax plants, twine from the Celodim docks and cherry wood branches. On the repeat of this quest, there are no sub-quests, you just go out and collect the same 3 items.
- How the Shire Shoos Shrews *NEW*
Quest Giver: Bodo Burrows (Know-it-all)
Quest Level: 10+
Reward: 2 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Daily
This quest leads you back to the farms of the Shire to get advice from expert Shire farmers on the best way to remove pesky shrews. Visit Cotton Farm, Sandson’s Farm and Samwise’s old Gaffer on Backshot Row. Be sure to read the text from the Hobbits
A Proper Festival *NEW*
Quest Giver: Forlad (Annoyed Gardener)
Quest Level: 10+
Reward: 2 Spring Leaf
Repeat: Daily
I believe this quest is intended to be a clever reminder that all the Bree flower collecting quests have been removed. Forlad is annoyed that all there seems to be to this festival is stomping shrews and requests you go collect followers for the stomping ground flower pots. The flowers can be found outside the shrew stomping area near Duillond. Once collected, return to the shrew stomping grounds to place them in the flower pots.
The Shire Bullroarer Celebrations
Most of the Shire quests are one time only quests. Meaning if you did it last year, you won’t get the quest again this year. Only repeatable open is the Bullroarer fence running challenge.
- A Hobbit Among the Hedges
Quest Giver: Sorrel North-Took (29.84S, 71.55W)
Quest Level: 1+
Rewards: None
Repeat: No
This quest is simply to move you towards Bree for the Hedge maze. You will not get this quest if you’ve already been to Bree and done these quests.
- A Celebration at the Greenfields
Quest Giver: Sorrel North-Took (29.84S, 71.55W)
Quest Level: 1+
Rewards: 1 Spring Leaf, 42 copper
Repeat: No
Quest has you go visit Sigismond North-Took in Brokenborings
- Bullroarer’s Brew
Quest Giver: Sigismond North-took (27.23S, 67.71W)
Quest Level: 6+
Rewards: 90 copper
Repeat: No
You are asked to go pick the needed clover so more Bullroarer’s Brew can be made for the celebration. Head north into the Greenfields and look for glowy patches of clover on the ground. Creatures around this area are level 11-13 so fairly safe for most.
- Paying Your Respects
Quest Giver: Sigismond North-took (27.23S, 67.71W)
Quest Level: 6+
Rewards: 90 copper
Repeat: No
You are sent to the deliver the clover to the Golden Perch in Stock. You take it to Gunderic Grubb(31.98S 63.79W) and instructed to return to Brockenborings to place a tankard of ale near Bullroarer’s statue (just return to Sigismond). After placing your brew and talking to Sigismond again you’re instructed to go visit Tobias Brockhouse (27.24S, 67.25W) east of Brockenborings. He’s standing on a little stage.
- Bullroarer’s Challenge
Quest Giver: Tobias Brockhouse (27.24S, 67.25W)
Quest Level: 6+
Rewards: 90 copper, 5 pints of Bullroarers Brew
Selectable Rewards: Wooden Keg, Bullroarer’s Tankard, Clover Patch, Greenfields Hat, Bullroarer’s Brew (x5)
Repeat: Daily
Behind the stage where Tobias stands you’ll notice a thin fencing. You are instructed to toast to Bandobras’s Health with the mugs near by and then walk the length of the fence without falling off. Don’t sweat it if you fall off as you can try again in about 20 seconds. You receive your rewards from back at Sigismond (not Tobias).
Also if you’re curious as to what the Greenfields Hat looks like, Sigismond is wearing one. The clover patch looks exactly like the patches you picked up off the ground. I went with the tankard myself!
There is also the “Bullroarer’s Challenge – Advanced” quest which is the same except you must cross the fence in under 20 seconds! The rewards for this version are a choice of Inn League Kegor Bullroarer’s Brew (x10).
Thorin’s Hall
While still a big hub of Ale Association quests, I found nothing specific to Spring Festival here other than the dance quest.
Festival Mounts
The quest and method to obtain the festival mounts is the same as other festivals. See General Festival Quests for information on that quest and how to buy your new mount. However, I wanted to share pictures of the mounts available so you can decide if you need them!

No new costumes other than the cloaks? That’s a little disappointing. I like the new horse though.
The blue roan one has always been one of my favourites because it looks so very different from all the other ones, being grey/blue. I think I’ll go get that on all my chars now the horses are affordable.
BTW, not sure if you know, but if you fellow-up while doing the shrews, the deed advances when one of your fellows stomps. I’m not sure if it was a bug or not last year but it was fairly useful when killing enough was hard because of the number of people fighting for shrews.
March 22, 2011 at 10:09 pm
Suggest making the +5 ooc runspeed jewelry if you’re having problems
March 22, 2011 at 10:13 pm
Sweet… finally the return of the /fishslap!
March 22, 2011 at 10:26 pm
Thank you for having this up already and with such detail!
March 22, 2011 at 10:39 pm
I want to note that if you eat the extra tasty delicious biscuits, you get a fortune. There are 50 total, and getting 10 of each kind gets a neat title.
March 23, 2011 at 5:55 am
Oh you are right! I forgot the fortune titles! Thank you!
March 23, 2011 at 10:10 pm
I’ve had fortunes rolling around on my characters for a year – finally got rid of them last week, forgetting they from this and not the summer festival. Shoulda waited.
March 22, 2011 at 10:51 pm
This is my first Spring festival and I am part of Laurelin-EU.. Have to say I am mildly shocked that there is such a thing as stomping small animals to their deaths as part of festivities. And I definitely don’t see elves of Tolkien ever being part or supporting a thing like that
Nobody’s asking me, but I definitely don’t approve of that.
March 23, 2011 at 6:15 am
See the original dev diary on the shrew stomping event.
http://www.lotro.com/gameinfo/devdiaries/650-developer-diary-spring-festival-of-2010
“Disclaimer: No shrews were harmed in the making of this game. Stomp-A-Shrew is a challenge loved equally by humanoid and shrewish participants alike. All shrews are present of their own accord, and are free to leave the game at any time. The stomping boots given to the Garden’s defenders have been carefully crafted by the Elves of Duillond to ensure that shrews are only knocked out of the running, and are not actually squished at any point during the course of the game.”
March 23, 2011 at 10:10 am
Thank you for that info, Goldenstar, I looked at it. Still don’t like the idea. Killing things is part of the game, right, but is is a “job”, a duty to rid the Middle-Earth of evil. This is supposed to be “entertainment” as part of the Spring festival, and in that way it just seems wrong, regardless of the disclaimer of the devs
…
Because, what’s the message then? That killing things is pure joy and fun? Doesn’t seem right to me.
March 23, 2011 at 10:14 pm
Actually I agree. I also thought that putting it in Duillond wasn’t the best idea as Elves are known for their love of nature and all animals. Having the shrew event in the Shire would have been more appropriate because there are other quests there involving them, and they’re commented on as being a nuisance with the crops.
March 28, 2011 at 1:42 am
Those Shrews are nasty little beasts! They killed my new hobbit the other day! When my hobbit relayed being attacked by shrews at the shrew stomping event, the others there declared a round of vengeance!
Are you also incensed over the quests to kill elk? Humans? Seriously, they’re mean, nasty critters and it’s a game!
March 23, 2011 at 12:41 am
Hooray for new cloaks!
March 23, 2011 at 1:28 am
So, today I saw someone with a “Giant Flower.” It was awesome. The person logged off before I had a chance to ask her where she got it from. I’ve never seen it before, so I assume it is a spring festival thing. Do you have any idea how to acquire such an item? It was a bound item. *crosses fingers that it isn’t a random gift box cosmetic*
March 23, 2011 at 5:54 am
It’s from the gift boxes
March 23, 2011 at 8:09 am
Call me clueless but where do I get the festival boxes from?
March 23, 2011 at 8:40 am
They come in the mail
March 23, 2011 at 10:37 am
Boo! But thank you for confirming that for me.
March 23, 2011 at 11:40 am
I got my giant flower today. I used it to whack a Giant into submission in Enedwaith today…
–Harp
March 23, 2011 at 1:00 pm
You did!? Yay you Harperella!!
March 31, 2011 at 11:40 pm
Harp and I dueled with our flowers…was quite fun!
March 23, 2011 at 10:15 pm
Is it possible to share it between characters, or can it not go in the wardrobe?
March 23, 2011 at 3:25 am
has anyone managed to do the chicken dash quest? it doesn’t seem to be available for me.
March 23, 2011 at 6:17 am
It is on a timer. The hobbit responsible will only have the quest when it’s announced that chickens are loose in the maze. I did get it and was able to complete the quest last night.
March 23, 2011 at 3:34 am
Yeah, there is a low-level (journeyman?) necklace that gives you +8% run speed (crit version).
March 23, 2011 at 10:55 am
Just to clarify, here are the necklaces that give you run speed boosts:
ApprenticeAgate Ne
March 23, 2011 at 10:57 am
Apprentice Agate Necklace (of Quickness) +5% / +8% critical
Artisan Adamant Necklace (of Might) +5%
Supreme Khazad-Copper Necklace +8%
March 23, 2011 at 9:02 am
Interestingly enough, I was given the quest A Fool’s Errand right off the bat this year, since I’d done the earlier quests in the line last year. Maybe they expect me to remember my way through the maze, but I sure as heck don’t. Haha I’ll be running the other quests until I get my bearings back in there before attempting the 3-minute timer again!
March 23, 2011 at 9:07 am
You will fail the enormous shrew quest as soon as someone else kills it. It will not stay in your log, you have to pick it up for each round.
March 23, 2011 at 9:37 am
Do you have any other information on the mailed gift boxes and what triggers them? Since they removed the flower collection quest, these mailed boxes are the only possible way those of us on new servers can ever get the tart recipes. I’ve gottem one gift box on each character so far but no idea how to trigger more or what I need to do to get them.
March 23, 2011 at 1:31 pm
AFAIK, it’s random. Last year, I got a love note (I didn’t get it then, and I threw it out). I also picked up the flower.
http://masteringlore.blogspot.com/2011/03/from-secret-admirer.html
March 23, 2011 at 10:08 pm
Never seen that flower before, I want one!
March 24, 2011 at 3:37 am
What are the love notes for? I got one.
March 24, 2011 at 6:30 am
They are for fun.
March 24, 2011 at 12:00 pm
They are just for fun.
March 28, 2011 at 1:45 am
If it’s just for fun, then I don’t get why someone said:
“Last year, I got a love note (I didn’t get it then, and I threw it out).”
March 30, 2011 at 3:06 pm
I just didn’t get that they were collectable, fun things within the game. I tossed it. Not a big deal.
March 23, 2011 at 11:48 am
Doom-shrooms. Nice Plants vs Zombies reference.
March 23, 2011 at 1:21 pm
Just a note…in the Spring Dandy deed, you have to complete the Advanced Bullroarer’s challenge, not just the regular one.
I don’t have the coordination to do it on “hard mode” – I tried for 3 hours last night.
March 23, 2011 at 1:24 pm
I was never able to do it last year, either, despite repeated efforts.
I make a rotten drunk!
March 23, 2011 at 3:42 pm
I got a purple flowerbox from a secret admirer note.
March 23, 2011 at 3:49 pm
Festival Fortunes: Oddly Familiar (Fortunes 1-10) – Quotes from NPCs in game
Festival Fortunes: A Storyteller’s Snippets (Fortunes 11-20) – Quotes from The Hobbit
Festival Fortunes: Fateful Foretellings (Fortunes 21-30) – ??
Festival Fortunes: Excellent Advice (Fortunes 31-40) – Random Advice?
Festival Fortunes: An Adventurer’s Song (Fortunes 41-50) – The Road goes Ever Ever on poem
March 30, 2011 at 1:50 am
I think 21-30 are quotes from the “Magic 8 Ball” and 31-40 are also quotes from NPCs in game.
March 23, 2011 at 3:59 pm
Any idea what the patches of flowers are for? Can’t find any quests that require them.
March 23, 2011 at 5:34 pm
They were used in a quest that was removed. You had to gather a certain number of flowers from around bree, around Michel delving, and around celondom within a certain time limit,
March 24, 2011 at 2:14 am
Anyone have any luck with Spring Sprung?
Complete 5 quests at the Bree-land Hedge Maze (doesn’t include the 2 new quests)
Completed:
# Misplaced Companions
# A Laugh at the Lost
# The Cloven Track
# A Speedy Errand
# A Fool’s Errand
Deed not achieved, nor is there any indication its in progress.
March 24, 2011 at 6:31 am
You need the Inn League Quest. Speedy Errand is just a pre-req to Fool’s Errand and is not part of the deed (Fool’s Errand is though)
Weird you don’t have the deed though. Check your log in the social tab? You should have it at least open.
March 24, 2011 at 8:33 am
I ran all the old quests last year, but never received the deed. I just did 3, and no deed unlocked.
I also bugged what I think is an issue – the counts for the shrew-stomp deed are not incrementing correctly. I went in with 140, stomped the 10 shrews for the deed (got credit for it), but the deed counter stopped at 148. I ran it a second time, and only got credit for 9 (up to 157).
March 24, 2011 at 8:43 am
I noticed the shrew-counting issue last night, as well. I thought maybe I’d REALLY forgotten all the math I learned in school.
Also, it seems that being in a fellowship during the shrew stomping didn’t help speed up the deed, as it did during last year’s festival.
Also also, I was having some crazy screen shaking issue every time I went inside the hedge maze. It looked like a Rift was opening (from the game RIFT) every few minutes.
March 24, 2011 at 9:29 am
I don’t really enjoy shrew stomping personally so I don’t mess with it much. Sounds like there’s an issue with the deed and it’s been reported.
The shaking in the maze is all the people passing out from dire brew. I guess you feel them hit the ground.
March 24, 2011 at 11:55 am
Yeah, then the person is teleported, there is screen shake. I noticed it the other night when a kinmate drank from the Inn League cask in the kin house.
March 24, 2011 at 12:04 pm
I’m not a member of the inn league.; But its not a requisite quest for 5 unique quests in that list; Didn’t realize one didnt count.
March 24, 2011 at 12:19 pm
the deed is for the 5 repeatable quests (not including the 2 new ones) at the hedge maze. You won’t see the inn league one unless you are friend status with them. Sorry. I didn’t make the deed.
March 24, 2011 at 12:54 pm
I missed the key word repeatable. Again, my apologies!. The deed probably starts with the inn-league one, which is why it’s difficult to see/troubleshoot without.
March 24, 2011 at 9:41 pm
I got it. It is hidden until you complete it. The various timed quests count as one, and you need to do the 3-min run (map here http://www.lotrolife.com/gallery/spring_festival_2009/hedge_maze_map/).
I didn’t get it until I completed all of the maze quests, but I doubt The Green Challenge is one of the required.
Don’t forget the chicken quest!
March 30, 2011 at 3:07 pm
Just did the chicken dash & achieved the title:
“A new Title has been bestowed upon you, you may now be known as Elahedor Taterlord, Amazeling!”
April 1, 2011 at 6:08 pm
(original comment lost in site-transition) I’ve done the chicken quest, and all the others besides “The Green Challenge” as far as I can tell, it is required, since none of my characters have the deed.. If you somehow manage to get it without this quest please let us know exactly which quests you have completed in your log.
March 24, 2011 at 8:01 pm
For anyone having problems with getting all 560 shrews for both titles (or if you’re tired of doing it again and again and again) I’d like to point out that if you accept the challenge from the Elite Gardener you can stomp as many as you’d like (as opposed to the apparent limit of 10). As long as you don’t plant all 5 seedlings, you can just keep stomping away until the end of the round. I’ve been averaging 30-40 shrews per round and almost have the second title.
I suggest planting 4 of the seedlings at the beginning of each round (each planting takes 7-8 second). Then you have about 2 minutes and 15 seconds to stomp all the shrews you can. When there are about 10 seconds left on the clock you can plant the last seedling and still finish the challenge. I suppose you could also just accept the challenge and purposely fail so that you have all 3 minutes to stomp about, but I want the leaves

I’m noticing that the mailed gift boxes are working from a significantly reduced set of prizes compared to previous years. There are no tart recipes, or any cosmetic recipes. Most of the cosmetics are not present, as well as most of the other items listed in past years’ boxes.
Apparently the new servers are just out of luck and Turbine has decided they don’t deserve the tarts or tart recipes that every other server has had for years.

I got a farming recipe today so there are some from past year.

A friend of mine got a bunny mask from the first gift box she got. A very strange and creepy-looking mask.
March 29, 2011 at 4:39 pm
Yes, I got the bunny mask too. Very Donny Darko!

Just wanted to point out the Green Challenge is required for the Amazeling title. As I was an AA Member, I had to grind out rep to become a member of the Inn League in order to get the title.

North of the shrew cave in Duillond is an NPC named Deluraw that gave me three additional quests:
Flax To Fibre
The Twines That Bind
A Gentle Weapon
Deluraw’s title was ‘Festival Show-maker’ and the quests involved the shrew stomping game, so I’m assuming these are Spring Festival quests.
March 27, 2011 at 7:35 am
Nevermind, I can’t read
It is the boot-maker subquests

I was waiting by Buttercup North-Took 3 hours nonstop last 2 days and no ring there / no Yellow broadcost info. What problem should i have with The Chicken Dash quest? is there some prequest need for it? Today run over whole shire and did all single quest there (chicken runs too, no big one only). And nothing. Any suggestions?
March 28, 2011 at 1:41 pm
There are no pre-requisites I am aware of and I know that it is active as I have personally run it twice since Spring Festival has launched and seen it announced several times. Not sure what to tell you.
March 28, 2011 at 2:52 pm
i wait now by NPC 4 hours without any break. No message / no ring(quest). so there should be something wrong i guess.
March 28, 2011 at 2:44 pm
The chicken runs are at the top of the hour for 15 minutes.
March 28, 2011 at 3:13 pm
Make sure you don’t have any other hedge maze quest in your quest log. There are some quests they don’t allow you to do at the same time. So if you have A Fool’s Errand in your quest log for instance, you might not ever see the ring. Also if you’re not getting a notice at the top of the hour, make sure your chat filters include showing the Event broadcast.

Dear Krucipisek, thank you for your ticket. I have looked into this and it is working as intended. I am unfortunately unable to discuss ingame mechanics and suggest you use the advice channel
I see broadcasts in ered luin for shrew killing – so thats no my problem
i have no other quests in questlog for festival – i see rings on other npcs
i ask on OCC every hour if someone make / can make / made this quest today – no positive answer
I am so pissed about this, asked GM to tell me whats wrong. I only stay by npc and nothing:(
March 28, 2011 at 3:45 pm
5 hours by npc, no broadcast mss / no ring …thx codemasters/ turbine
March 28, 2011 at 5:46 pm
Yeah, The Chicken Dash apparently don’t work in Snowbourn (EU) too. Afk for few hours and not even single broadcast or ring.
March 28, 2011 at 6:27 pm
will be happy for any other clue how to solve it. thx
March 29, 2011 at 5:07 am
There is no chicken dash this year.
See below.
March 29, 2011 at 5:06 am
According to the GMs, the Chicken Dash quest is not active this year.
[10:59] +Gm: The quest was removed from the list. We are only helping players that are stuck with it.
[11:00] Me: Ok, so it’s no longer there? Then at least I have a definite answer.
[11:00] +Gm: If memory serves me was removed almost 2 years ago.
[11:01] Me: All right, thanks for the help. Can I mention this conversation when I tell people that wonder?
[11:02] +Gm: You can tell people, that the quest is inactive.
March 29, 2011 at 5:16 am
(I’m on EU servers. If it’s active on the US servers, please tell me and I’ll complain to the GMs that we don’t get stuff again…)
March 29, 2011 at 6:01 am
It is active on U.S. Like I said, I’ve personally done the quest 2 times this year and last night a kinnie mentioned hearing about chickens while in bree as well. It’s never been removed here. I did it last year as well for the deed.
March 29, 2011 at 8:55 am
And now I must say something on the lines of WTF, because the chicken dash is back and running! If I didn’t have logs (the one above only had names changed to protect the inno… I mean guilty?!!?), I would doubt my sanity.
March 29, 2011 at 5:15 am
We just got a reply from the GMs here in Europe – the chicken dash quest is not here this year and you won’t be able to complete the amazeling deed because of that.
March 29, 2011 at 5:35 am
Vatiel: can u pls write ticket? i am on snow too i allready did 3 times and alaways GM write me idiot replays. Like :
Hello Krucipisek, thankyou for your ticket. The timers are based on your machines time. Please check that your computer has the correct time and date. If the problem persists, please do not hesitate to raise a ticket. Regards, GM +Caligan.
I cant belive that something is wrong and they wont to repair it. That quest really dont work there and i dont know where else should i write for help:(
March 29, 2011 at 7:10 am
Looks like Chicken Dash is working now! Done it few minutes ago
March 29, 2011 at 3:25 pm
Vatiel, what server is that on?
On EU-Gilrain it doesn’t seem to be working, I stood there a lot and no quest ring on Buttercup North-Took nor any broadcasts.
March 30, 2011 at 12:45 am
Doesn’t look like there’s any turbine points to win, this festival?
If so, pity
March 31, 2011 at 5:46 am
Guys, I can’t find out where to get those new cloaks. Festival vendor in Bree doesn’t carry them. Help, please?
March 31, 2011 at 8:15 am
They are on second page in barter window.

Many thanks, for I totally ignored those two small arrows. I blame “billboard blindness.”

Is there any title, deed or anything when you drink spring beverages/ales?
April 11, 2011 at 4:28 pm
No. There are deeds and titles for drinking ales for the Inn League, though.
